Meat n' Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.
Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicom. New crew-mates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that) and purple girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.
[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

She frowned though at the mention of her world being gone. It was something that she'd heard already, but she still didn't believe it. It wasn't possible. "Lies," she said firmly, her eyes flashing angrily. "Tortall surely stands. If it had fallen then I would know. I would remember because I would have fought to protect it. I'm needed there." Her friends and family... what had happened to them? Were they okay?
(OOC: I'm sorry. I can't type tonight. :( )

Cedric didn't like the angry look, but he understood it. There was hardly any proof of anything they were being told, and he still didn't know the answer to a basic question such as whether he still lived or not. Honestly, he wanted to believe that it was all a lie too.
"I hope it does," he sighed. "I just don't know. Everyone's saying the same thing, and some say they remember it. I don't know how."

"I'm sorry, Cedric," she apologized, offering a weak smile. "I shouldn't have lost my temper with you."
"Some say that they remember it? Do they know anything else?" she asked, worry creeping into her voice. How could she have been abducted without even knowing that it had happened? How had she gotten into that pod? Her mind was filled with questions, most of which had no answers yet. Not the most pleasant experience of her life. "May I ask where you're from?"

"Some creatures called the Ohm are responsible. They're a bit light on details, but it's all in this thing," he sighed, lifting the omnicom that had started playing the information on its own. "They swoop down on worlds and destroy them, and we're supposed to be the last ones left from our worlds. With some more in the pods, of course."
He lifted his head to eye her curiously. "I was from a planet Earth. I don't know if you're from there, if you've heard of it---anyway, it was a small country called England. It's always raining."
There was more, but he had to be careful about what he disclosed.

At that, the Lioness shook her head. She'd never heard of a country called England. The knight shook her head. "No, I'm sorry. I've never heard that name before now."

And that bothered Cedric quite a lot. What if his family wasn't judged important enough? His classmates?
"It's all right. We must be from different worlds, then."

Alanna nodded slowly. It made some sense, she supposed. Well, it made more sense then a lot of what she had been told since waking. "I agree. That must be it."

He sighed, shaking his head and staring at the window view before them. "Yeah. It's amazing, isn't it? Never thought I'd know about other worlds, and here we are. All that's left from them." It was still a hard pill to swallow.

The Lioness's eyes softened as she watched Cedric. Now that she was watching her companion more closely, she could see the pain on his own face and she felt a wave of guilt for having not noticed it sooner. "Yes, you're right," she told him gently. Amazing was certainly one way to put it, although it wasn't the first word that came to Alanna's mind. Under different circumstances though, she might have embraced the chance to learn more about people from different worlds. Worlds that she hadn't even known existed until now. Worlds that no longer existed. She closed her eyes, biting back the pain that came with that thought. "Well, we'll just have to do our best. There is nothing more that we can do except press on for now."
(OOC: I am so very sorry about how long this response took. If you'd prefer not to continue this thread then I understand. Thank you and I'm sorry.)

Cedric knew that was true, and he was grateful that the others were also saying it. A shared burden was easier to bear. Teamwork would help them to win. "Right! So I'll be training. Keeping in shape, practicing defence...and whatever else I can do. So we'll find something?"
((It's fine, I saw your hiatus notice! I'm going slow these days too, don't worry.))

The Lioness smiled, pleased that her companion seemed to have perked up a little at least. "And I'll do the same. We'll need to be at our best if we're to succeed." Still, she felt lost. As though she was wandering in unknown territory without any sense of direction and, in a sense, she was. What was expected of her? Where did her duty lie now with her homeland gone?
The Ohm. That was the supposedly the name of the enemy. The ones who had destroyed, not only her own world, but the worlds of all those around her, if what she'd been told was to be believed. They had to be stopped before they caused more damage. Even if her homeland no longer existed, she remained a knight of Tortall and she would do her duty to the best of her ability. That would never change. "We protect," she whispered firmly. "We stop the threat before it can spread further."
(OOC: Thank you. :) )

It was what was owed, that was all. All of those people deserved the chance to finish their lives, to thrive and discover and learn. "So I suppose I'll see you out there? Wherever we're fighting?"

"Goodbye, Cedric," she added. "I'll keep an eye out for you. Please stay safe."
