cityship: (Meanwhile...)

It's The Final Countdown

This was it. Endgame. The crux of the battle, the turning point, those crucial moments that would decide if the crew won or lost, that would decide if the Ohm would reign victorious or go running with their chitinous tails between their legs.

Did the crew have enough grit to win? Could they defeat a full Ohm fighting force?

With the flagging confidence of the GIA forces, it'd be up to the crew to turn the tide.

And one of the crew would pay the ultimate price to make sure the others walked away alive.

[ooc: everything is up!]

Medbay itself was a circus due to all of the events happening on the ship and elsewhere. The casualties were steadily rising and Rapunzel was needed almost in every general area whether with retrieving supplies or tending to wounds with bandages or stitches. It was a process she was learning as she went along, not the best method of training but with so few numbers actually helping, any hand was better than none.

Skittering past a group of doctors surrounding someone, Rapunzel paused and tried to peer through the group to get a good look at who they were fussing over. Once her eyes caught sight of a familiar freckled face somewhere in between the bodies, her face nearly went white and the collection of items she was carrying was immediately dropped to the floor. Yet even the loud clamor of items did not disrupt the doctors and nurses from what they were doing.

It never crossed her mind the entire time that somehow Hiccup would wind up in here. In fact, she never imagined for a second that he was capable of even getting nearly hurt as badly as the patients here. Maybe it was her own confidence in believing he was capable of taking care of himself or the simple fact that so much was happening that she barely gave it a passing thought. But to see him there with the commotion around him made her that much more aware to how serious this b battle was. This was no game; even her friends were capable of getting hurt.

"What happened to him?!" She exclaimed while rushing over to his side, pushing past some of the doctors that were already tending to him. None of them seemed willing to let her through, however, and she was met instead with a little pushing back of her own.

"Just stay back, you’re not familiar with—"

"No, I can help him!” She yelled, unwilling to let them simply pull her away. "Just please, let me help him!"

"What are you capable of doing? You're familiar with this line of work. It’s nothing you're—"

"Just let me TRY!"

It was those nearly shouted words that silenced the doctors and other medical practitioner around him up. What was the worst that could happen? On this ship, there were so many forms of healing that if she had any of that, there was no reason to stop her now. As the doctor's all stepped aside for her to get through, Rapunzel quickly rushed over to Hiccup's side.

"Hiccup! Hiccup, can you hear me?” Rapunzel asked, placing a hand on his arm while frowning at the amount of blood seen. "Stay with me, okay? I'm going to help you!"

He was trying to get up, actually. He was that out of it.

"Astrid. Need to--Toothless's'not back yet. He was supposed to bring her--bring her here. I dunno if she's okay. I dunno--" he slurred.

Of course, given his condition, he wound up just slumping dizzily back into the bed.

"I need to find Astrid."

Being shot apparently wasn't the foremost of his worries.

It was moments like this that she almost wished Eugene was around. He normally had the answers for this type of thing, not to mention the extra hand to potentially seek the ones Hiccup was speaking of. What would he do in a situation like this? Better yet, would he be able to help at all? There was nothing she could do about the two that he mentioned, and sadly she didn't have anyone else with her who could potentially do anything about it. The only one capable of rescuing those that were important to him was Hiccup himself, but he was obviously in no condition to do it.

Unless...

Even if it meant the secret was out completely, she didn't care anymore. Holding back what could save everyone would only be selfish. And she wasn't about to see that happen, not at the risk of Hiccup's life or anyone's.

"Hiccup.. stay with me. I'll fix this quickly, okay?" She reassured softly, then grabbed the ends of her hair and began to lightly wrap it around his arm. Any part of the body would do since it was apparently the injuries were near fatal and perhaps in other areas, too. She couldn't tell, she didn't want to think about it. All she knew was that she had the capability to fix it for good. "Just stay ... stay still."

A softer look was given before her eyes closed, and once more before the doctors and anyone else surrounding did she call upon the flower instilled within her hair with a few magic words.

On that cue alone, just as the words described, the roots of her hair began to suddenly glow and slowly traveled down the length of her hair as the words of the song continued to flow.

His eyes had been rolling back into his head, but as the glow filled the room and traveled down the ends of her hair, he felt...something warm welling up in the pit of his stomach that fluttered through the rest of his body and cleared his head.

Blinking his eyes open feebly, his jaw dropped slightly, the golden glow lighting up his face.

The bullet wound was healing up as she sang, and so were a number of other cuts and burns he'd acquired during the fight.

"Okaaay."

Those around her were perhaps as equally stunned as he was, but Rapunzel kept focused and continued to sing the words to the melody. She knew this was not without questions and perhaps even a bit of bewilderment to anyone within earshot of the situation. Her words promised to by . Thus every injury, every infliction, and even the energy used in battle was restored back to it's original order. may have been changed here, but she at least

And all the room could do was watch and stare as she performed what would probably take doctors twice as long to mend.

[identity profile] flowerglow.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 08:38 am (UTC)(link)

At those final words, the glow that filled the room gradually began to die down, and the power instilled within her hair grew dormant once more. She hated this part, the part that always was met with the weird stares and—yep, that was happening. Once her eyes had opened again, she was of course met with a number of different eyes on her, some confused, others surprised, and a few that just didn't know what to think of it.

With a sheepish grin, Rapunzel only gave the meekest of shrugs. "I guess ... I forgot to mention that. Heh. Oops?"

[identity profile] i-saw-myself.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hiccup sat there for a moment staring at her, and then lifted his arm, the hair slipping away from around it, and moved it, feeling out his shoulder.

It didn't even ache.

His mouth moved like he was going to form words a few times in silence.

Then he finally said, "Sooo." He made a clicking noise with his tongue. "Magic hair, huh? That'd explain the freaking out about someone being after it."

[identity profile] flowerglow.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
She waited a moment as he tested his strength again, aware that this was likely going to be followed with questions. Nervously, she tugged at a few strands of hair and averted her eyes elsewhere.

Yet when he did finally say something, she noted that it was a completely different reaction from how Eugene reacted. He didn't even seem the least bit freaked out, more like amused.

An odd look was given his way. "You mean ... you're not even remotely freaked out by it?"

[identity profile] i-saw-myself.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Nope."

Explaining, he said, "You do realize there's a girl on the ship that can heal with water, right?" He quickly vacated the bed with a nod to the doctor, showing he was okay. They likely needed that bed for someone else hurt worse. "She healed me once."

He pointed to a nasty, nasty scar across his chest, one that Rapunzel might notice now that she wasn't caught up in the urgency of the moment. There was a surgical scar there, bisecting most of his torso, and an area that looked like the skin had been torn away and replaced with another patch of skin.

"One of my best friends can shoot fire from his hands. Another friend's a lizard-man who can do magic. I told you before, there's lots of people on the ship that can do amazing things."

He rolled his shoulder more, making sure he had full movement, his eyes scanning the crowd in case there was a familiar head of braided blonde hair among the people here.

"And that was pretty amazing, don't get me wrong. But I don't think it's weird at all. If anything, someone like me that doesn't have any special powers or skills is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb."

He gave her a very warm smile, as he shrugged the top of his plantsuit on again.

"I'm just grateful. Thank you. I've been injured before--"

He drew the plantsuit shut over his chest.

"--a few times. It'll be nice not hurting and being holed up in Medbay for ages for once."

He looked regretfully at his leg.

"I guess the leg was too much for it, though."

Or too old a wound. Or maybe the metal dock being in the way had made it impossible to heal. Maybe it was the spell itself. What had been hurt already healed, what have been lost had been regained thanks to the automail.

Maybe, too, it was the fate's design that he lost his leg.

[identity profile] flowerglow.livejournal.com 2011-08-28 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
Rapunzel's smile only grew, this time a little more softer and genuine without the note of suspicion behind it. "Quite a few people told me about how this ship has a whole wide range of unusual abilities. I guess ... I've just been so worried about what that would mean if I told anyone."

She frowned and looked to her hair, then turned back to Hiccup again when he made note of the leg. She frowned at that. Perhaps her hair wasn't nearly as powerful as she thought it was, or maybe it was just too late for it. "As long as you're fine now, that's what matters the most." She noted with a reassuring tone. Even if limbs were still missing, she was grateful just knowing he was alive.

The smile wavered a bit when memory suddenly dawned on her that there were other urgent matters that needed to be addressed. They weren't out of the storm yet. "What about this Astrid person? Where are they?"

[identity profile] i-saw-myself.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
"She's my girlfriend."

Hiccup immediately started looking around the Medbay.

"She might be here, if she was hurt. (Oh, I hope she's not here). Toothless is looking for her everywhere else."

[identity profile] flowerglow.livejournal.com 2011-09-08 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, girlfriend?" That bit of knowledge came as a bit of a surprise for Rapunzel. Hoping to be of help, she followed after him.

"What did she look like? I've been in here for most of the day!"
