Lirath - The Coming Storm
After receiving the warning the Tapestry had provided them, along the order to begin preparations from Councillor Kang, the crew had been getting ready for upcoming combat with the Ohm.
Unfortunately, the rather vague nature of the warning they received meant they had no particular way of knowing exactly when this battle would occur. Understandably, this put some of the crew on edge, but at the very least they had some prior warning that they would be facing the Ohm, rather than being thrown blind into such a dangerous situation. Combat drills, vehicle maintenance and armory inspections seemed to be regular sights for the week or so following Kang's message. Not much time to prepare, but the crew worked with what was given to them.
Eventually, however, the call came.
||Alert, Alert,|| Stacy called out throughout the ship, ||Priority One message from GIA High Command. All crew members please report to the Obs Deck. Repeat, Priority One message from GIA High Command, All crew members please report to the Obs Deck...||
Stacy kept repeating the message over and over until the crew began making their way towards the Obs Deck to receive the message.
[ooc: As implied by the post, we're assuming the crew's ICly had a one-to-two week heads-up about the battle. It was supposed to be played out, but RL timing prevented this from working out. Feel free to come up with the details of your character's preparations on your own
Also, as usual, please wait for subthreads to go up before tagging in.
Edit: It's up! Feel free to start tagging in!]

Final Preparations
This would be their last moments of peace before the battle, so final preparations were under way. Supplies and weapons were being distributed, along with Thorn Armor, Stacy's combat-equivalent of the plant suits.
Those deemed noncombatants or those who volunteered were all being ready to be sent down to the planet below to help with receiving the incoming refugees. They were being gathered in the Obs Deck for deployment.
This would be the crew's last chance to say goodbye to everyone that was going down.

Otherwise, he had on his new riding gear on over the armor, something he'd made after Kang's warning, a handgun and ammunition in case he and Toothless were ever downed, and other odd useful sundries for the battle.
It wasn't much altogether though. Compared to how some others might pack their things, he was going light. He needed to. They had to be maneuverable.
There were a few people he was looking for, before the fight. They wouldn't be fighting side by side since he'd be in the air with Toothless. He wanted to talk to them juuust in case.
"Where are you?"

"You'd be guessing right."
He held out his hand.
"I just wanted to wish you good luck. This one looks like it's going to get a little crazy."

Like many of the crew, she was resolute and fought down bits of hesitation, ignoring the pre-skirmish tension in her muscles. She didn't say but she was ready.
Then again, there was a lot to say, wasn't there.

He spotted her, then ran up, looking immediately awkward.
"I just--I wanted to say...be careful out there."
He swallowed thickly.

And pausing, her face softened and she looked over his worried features, her eyes displaying their own silent concern. "Blast them with everything you've got."

Re: Final Preparations
She knew what would happen next - Hoshi was here, and so were the rest of her family and they would tell her to stay out of the fight.
Any other time, she would, but she already faced the Ohm before, before she realized her memories were altered, and she would face them again. Hopefully, if Negi came with her, she wouldn't have to worry about him going mad again.
Re: Final Preparations
She wasn't ready to see Sasami ready for the same.
"Sasami, what are you..." But she hestitated, knowing there really wasn't much she could do to stop her.
Re: Final Preparations
"Aqua-neesan..." Sasami whispered, before turning around, tears welling up. Despite the brave facade she was putting up, hearing Aqua's voice broke it down. "...I don't want you to get hurt..."

She rested a hand on her shoulder and gave her the best smile she could manage.
"Be safe out there, Sasami. Remember that you have people waiting for you to come back here safe and sound."

Re: Final Preparations
"Ssh, whatever happens, we have each other, don't we?" she said, running her fingers through her hair in a comforting way.
Re: Final Preparations
Her hand quickly moved to the side where she was struck. What happens if she made the same mistake again? What if this time, she didn't move in time?

Silently, she walks over to Vivio and puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"I don't get to tell you this often, Vivio..." she begins, "But you're a very strong warrior. Stay alert and fight cautiously, but don't worry about being overmatched."
Re: Final Preparations
She walked over to her friend. "Are you alright, Vivio?"
Re: Final Preparations
"I was there when we first fought the Ohm. It got a little too intense and... one of them got me." she said, still holding her side.
Re: Final Preparations
Great, what was she supposed to do now. It wasn't like she could really keep Vivio from fighting or tell her not to fight. She knew that Vivio would just be way too worried about her and everyone else if she did that.
But maybe, just maybe, she could do something...
And so, she moved closer, wrapping her arms around Vivio in a hesitant, loose hug.

"Vivio..." Her voice was soft, comforting, as she put a hand on the girl's head. "I'll try to stay close to you this time, 'kay? Nothing will be able to hurt you while I'm around."
She didn't just say that to reassure Vivio. Fate was making a promise to herself, to make sure she never had to see the horrifying sight of her daughter being struck down again.

"...thank you." With that, she pulled herself close to her, giving her a hug.
