After receiving the warning the Tapestry had provided them, along the order to begin preparations from Councillor Kang, the crew had been getting ready for upcoming combat with the Ohm.

Unfortunately, the rather vague nature of the warning they received meant they had no particular way of knowing exactly when this battle would occur. Understandably, this put some of the crew on edge, but at the very least they had some prior warning that they would be facing the Ohm, rather than being thrown blind into such a dangerous situation. Combat drills, vehicle maintenance and armory inspections seemed to be regular sights for the week or so following Kang's message. Not much time to prepare, but the crew worked with what was given to them.

Eventually, however, the call came.

||Alert, Alert,|| Stacy called out throughout the ship, ||Priority One message from GIA High Command. All crew members please report to the Obs Deck. Repeat, Priority One message from GIA High Command, All crew members please report to the Obs Deck...||

Stacy kept repeating the message over and over until the crew began making their way towards the Obs Deck to receive the message.

[ooc: As implied by the post, we're assuming the crew's ICly had a one-to-two week heads-up about the battle. It was supposed to be played out, but RL timing prevented this from working out. Feel free to come up with the details of your character's preparations on your own

Allenby nodded sharply. "Yeah. I don't know where I'm gonna end up fighting, but I've still got my two fists and there's no way I'm not gonna use 'em on the Ohm, one way or another."

She looked at Cagalli seriously. "How 'bout you? Ready for the Shrikes?"

"I'm sure if anyone can pound them with just her hands it's you."

She nodded back at Allenby. As much as she wanted to be light about this, take the edge off, she knew what was coming up. "There's not much I'm not ready for."

"Well--you got the Akatsuki, right?" said Allenby. "Kira and Blade Squadron know what they're doing in battle, and if you've fought before in other battles then you'll have a leg up on me from when I first fought the Ohm."

Cagalli shook her head. "I've only ever fought other humans in mobile suits. It's a leg up, but I've still got a lot to learn about this war."

Allenby thought for a moment, putting her hands on her hips. "They swarm," she said. "And when you start taking them out or crippling them, the rest of the Shrikes won't hesitate to use 'em as shields or cover to get at you."

"But just 'cause they're tough and there are swarms of them doesn't mean they're superior. Mobile suit pilots are always gonna be better than them."

"I'm pretty sure I can put my firepower advantage to use with that, and I've got remote weapons on the Akatsuki in case they try to use each other as shields." Actually using the Shiranui will be the hard part, even after practicing with it, but Cagalli has confidence if nothing else.

"Good." Remote weapons would be great against those guys, considering how much their attack relied on there just being too many of them to handle. "Still... tactics and special weapons are good, but it's not all about that. You have to fight with the Akatsuki as part of your soul! That's the strongest weapon there is, and it's something the Shrikes and Leviathans don't have at all."

That's not something Cagalli always got the way some people seemed to. A mobile suit was a weapon like a gun, a land mine... but Akatsuki was her father's gift to her and to Orb.

"I'll put all of myself into it, as much as I can."
