Lirath - The Coming Storm

 After receiving the warning the Tapestry had provided them, along the order to begin preparations from Councillor Kang, the crew had been getting ready for upcoming combat with the Ohm.

Unfortunately, the rather vague nature of the warning they received meant they had no particular way of knowing exactly when this battle would occur. Understandably, this put some of the crew on edge, but at the very least they had some prior warning that they would be facing the Ohm, rather than being thrown blind into such a dangerous situation. Combat drills, vehicle maintenance and armory inspections seemed to be regular sights for the week or so following Kang's message. Not much time to prepare, but the crew worked with what was given to them.

Eventually, however, the call came.

||Alert, Alert,|| Stacy called out throughout the ship, ||Priority One message from GIA High Command. All crew members please report to the Obs Deck. Repeat, Priority One message from GIA High Command, All crew members please report to the Obs Deck...||

Stacy kept repeating the message over and over until the crew began making their way towards the Obs Deck to receive the message.

[ooc: As implied by the post, we're assuming the crew's ICly had a one-to-two week heads-up about the battle. It was supposed to be played out, but RL timing prevented this from working out. Feel free to come up with the details of your character's preparations on your own

Guns holstered at his sides, Jr. made his way toward the Obs deck as fast as he could, which was pretty fast when he was really in a rush. He was far too used to Stacy calling certain members of the crew, or a more mellowed announcement to come up the deck. Alert. Something serious was up, and Jr. had a gut feeling he knew what it was. Coming back and hearing about what happened with the Tapestry ... weeks or months, was it? Of course it would be sooner than later.

The red-head was up on deck soon enough, brushing off the side of his jacket before glancing around to see who else snapped up there like he did.

"Good day," Lupin said politely, as he strolled up. He seemed calm, but his wand was out, though at his side.

"Remus!" Jr, gave Lupin a quick smile in greeting, before his expression fell back into a more serious one. His eyes flicked to the wand in his hand for a moment as well ... Jr. had never actually seen him use it before. He wondered briefly if the spells cast from it were anything like the speed of a bullet.

"Looks like we're in for some fun, huh."

"If there is a place for us on the battlefield." He had no illusions about his personal effectiveness on the field -- and even if he were to set aside all his morals and ethics and begin firing Killing Curses into the foes' ranks, he knew he hadn't the mindset to make them anywhere near effective.

Hopefully a wizard trained in Defense Against the Dark Arts could serve in some other way.

"I have a feeling there will be. From the sound of it, what they predicted was coming was going to be big." He reached into his pocket to run his fingers over the device in there, more as a comfort than anything. At least if he needed it, he'd be able to summon his E.S. craft to him.

Jr. glanced up to where the screen usually lit itself into life to give them the information they'd need (sometimes, too little, sadly). It was still eerily silent, so he figured he'd do some question-asking. He never knew if he would run into Lupin at any point during this conflict. "What kind of spells can you do with that wand, anyway?"

"Quite a few. But in terms of slaying Ohm or whatnot I fear there is very little I can do." He turned the wand in his fingers, looking down at it. "Protection and defense, though, perhaps might be better."

"Hey, they're helpful." He gave Lupin an encouraging smile.

"And don't forget using your environment works pretty well sometimes, too. When it comes to attacking and stopping them."
