Dearly Beloved...

The City didn't have weather as most people knew it, but it was nonetheless a beautiful day - warm weather with a nice breeze, Stacy's sun-equivalent shining in the sky... almost as if it was reflecting the emotions of at least one of the ship's crew. In the middle of the Park, someone had set up a little white lattice archway amongst the hedgerows, decorated with ivy and roses and lilies that looked remarkably real (if they were, in fact, synthetic). In front of the arch were several rows of white chairs, more than enough for anyone who cared to show up.

It was a beautiful day for a wedding.

And frankly, Nanoha needed it. After the chaos and confusion; the rage and terror on Galilee... she didn't think she could ever forget that horrible sense of loss and emptiness when she'd thought that Fate was gone, if only for a day or so. But this would go a long way toward exorcising those demons - a day that she'd dreamed of for years.

Of course, she couldn't go greet anyone yet. She was in her wedding dress, after all! These things needed to be proper.

Mindy had come toward the ceremony rather than at the beginning, so she'd had to stand for the most part. She'd never heard of two girls being able to marry, but this was Stacy, so anything was possible. Besides, with the way those two were staring at each other, she would dare anyone to say they couldn't: it was love, right? And love was blind and conditional or whatever.

She shrugged, sticking around to get some refreshments, siding alongside a girl she didn't know.

"Some party huh? Know those girls?"

Einhart blinked, before nodding. "Yes. I know them. One of them is my friend Vivio's adoptive mother."

Actually, both of them were, but apparently that part wasn't really official until just now. Maybe. Who really knew?

"Adoptive-oh yeah, makes sense, since they're both girls and all. Gotta wonder what that Vivio is like though."

Oh wait, she totally met Vivio before.

"That uptight chick in the library, that's right. So...this happen often, these kinda ceremonies, in your world?"

Einhart nodded. "It's common enough. I haven't been to any weddings before this one though. And Vivio does work with the media library."

"I mean between two girls," Mindy replied. "It was kind of a huge deal back in my world. They didn't want people of the same gender with the same rights as people who were a man and a woman together. Supposedly its a religious thing."

It was bullshit secluding in her opinion, really. They could pretend their God was shaking his finger at them all they wanted: she didn't buy it.

"I know. That's what I meant," Einhart answered. "But that's really somehting I can't understand hearing though. I guess those of us from my world are lucky then..."

"Well, whatever. If you find someone you can stand to be around who can actually kick ass enough you don't have to worry about them dying, I'd say you're lucky."

She shrugged "What's your name anyway?"

... Ouch. That really brought up unpleasant memories. Hearing about things like that. Not that the memories were hers or that any amount of power that Olivie had would've kept her alive, but still. "... That's true."

"My name's Einhart Stratos. What's yours?"

Did she hit a nerve? She imagined she did: she could see what she said certainly had an effect on what she said to this girl. Hit Girl didn't just stay by herself not paying attention.

"Pretty neat name. I'm Mindy Macready. So you're from their world. I guess it means you have powers like them, right?"

Yes, yes, changing to subject. Good. Good idea.

"Yes, I do. I'm not as strong as the two of them are though."

Oh, she could tell the change in topics was welcome. Hell, this topic was actually much more interesting to her anyway.

"What can you do?"

"Well, I can use wind magic along with strength and age enhancing spells," Einhart answered, moving over to grab a drink. "I'm more focused on using my power to enhance my martial arts rather than using spells though."

"No man, I totally get using martial arts." She actually understood it more than most people, considering that she had a foot in magic and how she fought.

"What do you do, with your martial art? What do you utilize?"

"Mostly punches and blocks," Einhart said. "My style isn't that heavy on using kicks. Though one of my magic spells involve using wind magic to catch another mages spell blast and throw it back at them."

"So magic and fighting: that's an interesting combination."

Yeah, sure, MINDY would just be striking conversation about this casually. "How quick are you, with that stuff?"

Einhart blinked. "Do you mean how fast I can move, or how quickly I learn?"

"I meant your speed," Mindy said. "I've always been curious about stuff like that. It's kinda my comic book geekery in play."

"My speed's alright," Einhart answered. "It's pretty average for someone who's been training. There are quite a few people I know about how are faster than me."

"Really." Crap, she HAD to go and meet this girl outside of her costume, that was just a pain in the ass. "Well, what if there was someone that wanted to train with you? What would you say to that?"

Einhart looked over at the girl for the moment. Did she want to train with her? "I'd be alright with that, depending on what they already knew. I'm not the best person to start training a beginner."

"Nah, I wouldn't say she's a beginner, not from the way she talks about it. I would say, though, that she kinda wants someone to test each other's speed on. She'd probably tell you herself, but she doesn't come to stuff like this."

"I'd be alright with sparring against her sometime," Einhart said. "Tell her to contact me on the Omnicrom to schedule a time."

Mindy grinned. "I'll let her know. She really likes fighting. She'll get in contact with you pretty soon, trust me."

Einhart smiled. "I'll be looking forward to it."

"Good." She said. "I'll let her know. In the meantime, why don't we go get something to eat."
