Dearly Beloved...
The City didn't have weather as most people knew it, but it was nonetheless a beautiful day - warm weather with a nice breeze, Stacy's sun-equivalent shining in the sky... almost as if it was reflecting the emotions of at least one of the ship's crew. In the middle of the Park, someone had set up a little white lattice archway amongst the hedgerows, decorated with ivy and roses and lilies that looked remarkably real (if they were, in fact, synthetic). In front of the arch were several rows of white chairs, more than enough for anyone who cared to show up.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding.
And frankly, Nanoha needed it. After the chaos and confusion; the rage and terror on Galilee... she didn't think she could ever forget that horrible sense of loss and emptiness when she'd thought that Fate was gone, if only for a day or so. But this would go a long way toward exorcising those demons - a day that she'd dreamed of for years.
Of course, she couldn't go greet anyone yet. She was in her wedding dress, after all! These things needed to be proper.

When Fate turned her gaze towards the aisle, any jittering stopped, along with her breathing. Somewhere in the back of her mind she made a note to congratulate Rein on a job well done, but it was hard to think of anything other than how beautiful her soon-to-be wife was right now. So she just watched as Nanoha slowly walked towards her, each step Taking what seemed like ages.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to both witness and celebrate the marriage of Nanoha Takamachi and Fate Testarossa Harlaown. This is a momentous occasion; its a very big step in their journey together, but by no means is it the final step of that journey. A wedding, while beautiful, is a single event where promises are made. A marriage is a lifetime of keeping those promises day in and day out. It is a series of decisions that have been made, and will continue to be made over and over again, every day, that shows each of their care and concern for the one whom they each love most in this life.
"Now, before these two make their promises to each other, if there is anyone here who believes that these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace." And if anyone did object, Leon felt nothing but pity for them.

"Now, as I said earlier, marriage isn't about making a promise, but it does start with making a promise. One that is renewed daily through a couples actions and a responsibility taken on in the spirit of faith, hope, and love, that can bring comfort in times of sadness and take your joy to untold heights.
"This couple has chosen to write their own vows to each other, to make that promise in their very own words. So, Nanoha..." Leon indicated for her to go first.

"I, Nanoha Takamachi, take you, Fate Testarossa-Harlaown, as my lawfully wedded wife. I promise to stand by you and be your friend and companion for all of my days to come, to have you and to hold you and to care for you. I will be by your side when times are happy, and I will be by your side when times are hard, to support and love you with all of my heart. I will cherish your presence and respect your thoughts and dreams - and I will make those dreams my own."
"I will fly together with you in the bright blue sky." Now the tears in her eyes were real and shining, her expression overjoyed - though she kept speaking, her voice cracked just a tad. "And I will dream of growing old with you - together."
"I promise to be the rock in your life, as you are the rock in mine, until death parts us and beyond."

"I--" Her voice cracked, and she paused to take a deep breath before continuing. "I, Fate Testarossa-Harlaown, take you, Nanoha Takamachi, as my lawfully wedded wife. I promise to stay by your side, through thick and thin, in times of joy and times of sorrow."
She had to take another breath to steady herself, and she could not stop the few tears from slipping down her cheeks. "I promise to be there whenever you call my name, and I promise to protect you with every last ounce of energy I possess.
You will forever be a part of me, just as I am a part of you, and not even death will be able to take me from your side."

"Do you, Nanoha, take Fate to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you vow to love her and care for her for as long as you both shall live? Do you accept her, with all of her faults and strengths, and offer yourself to her with all of your own faults and strengths? Do you promise to help her when she needs help, and to turn to her when you need help? Do you promise to be a faithful and loving companion and to always put the promises you make this day above all else?"

"On Earth, some human cultures believed that there was a vein that ran from the base of the fourth finger of the left hand straight to the heart, which is also located on the left side of the human body. They believed that by blessing the rings, and placing them on that finger, that the ring would carry that love straight to the heart of their lover." Granted, there was a lot more to it than that, but he figured he'd stick with the most romantic notion. "The biology of that turned out to be a little bit off, but the sentiment was not.
"These rings are the symbol of the love the two of you have for each other. As long as you wear it, you'll know that wherever you are, and no matter how far apart you are, that the thoughts, prayers, and love of the person who gave you this ring will always be with you."
He held out the rings for them.
"Nanoha, take Fate's ring, place it on her finger, while saying the words 'With this ring, I thee wed.'"

She took the ring from Leon, taking up Fate's hand, and slid it smoothly on one long, slender finger. Nanoha looked up, meeting her beloved's gaze. "With this ring, I thee wed," she said - a vow, a promise, a beautiful truth.

"By the powers vested in me, under the authority the GIA and Transmigration 9, I hereby pronounce you two married.
"You may now kiss the bride."

And Nanoha couldn't hold it back any longer. She threw her arms around Fate's neck, leaning forward to capture her lips in a loving, warm, grateful kiss as tears spilled from her eyes.
