In Which Teen Zetta Cruises For Chicks [Open. I am sorry.]
Sunglasses on.
Engine roaring.
Music blaring.
Accelerator depressed, gears engaged, and he was off.
The 2023 Ferrari Infinity streaked like a bullet through the City, down corridors, across the obs deck, anywhere it could reach, a black blur to those with slow vision, accented by a red streak where the flames of the Overlord's hair trailed far behind the convertible in wind-tossed delight. A smug grin on his face, left elbow propped firmly on the door, the Overlord did what any teen demon -- or, demon de-aged to about 1700 or so -- would do.
He was cruising for chicks.
Ladies, look out; Teen Zetta is looking for you.

Yes, this version had people screaming around in the city.
"Not only that, but the numbers keep changing too! So that means you might hit a blue thing and get...a big fat zero! Or you could just play it safe and find the things that give you points for sure, but if you get really lucky a single blue glowy thing could make you win the game. But I'll win anyway, so this is all moot point really!"

Zetta began selecting his own options, too. Rather than a giant robot version of himself, he was building a robot that practically screamed "war crime"; its weapons were explosive and area-based. Not much focus for a single target, but the mecha would rain devastation on anything in range. Weak little blue dogs and hidden stuff that he might otherwise not see would rack up the massive points for him!

"Actually there's one last thing," she said, having finished with her giant robot. "You know, apart from the fact that we both have to pilot it from inside."
no subject
"Oh yeah? And what's that?"
no subject
The spandex-like outfit appeared from below and grabbed her, a sphere shooting her inside her robot. There was a headset, and a range of cameras that allowed to see everything outside.
Good thing Lash knew how to pilot these things with her Ranger training, huh?
"One will stand. One must fall."
no subject
The Overlord leaped at his robot, turning in midair to face her. The chest cavity peeled open like an orange to accept him into its control room, snapping shut again as the numerous weapons armed themselves with ominous whines and malevolent hums.
He sneered, "Why throw away the game so recklessly, Lash?"
no subject
...Yet still completely within the rules, just like the very first time she had done it in the original game.
"I'm the wunderkind. I make giant robots look good."
The giant mecha took a fighting stance, somehow still able to move with all that gear, its right hand forming a 'come here' motion.
no subject
"I'm the Overlord. I make everything else look bad."
Now Zetta had built this robot with some unusual choices himself, because he was playing to win, and that meant he'd had a particular focus. Ordinarily he went with strength, of course, because in a good ol' hittin'-things fight the best defense was always a good offense. But here, he'd applied a different rule:
Speed is king.
A half-dozen ports opened on the front and sides of his robot, deploying not weapons, but booster jets. Tongues of flame burst out as they all fired at once, launching the Overlord backwards, away from Lash, as munitions and detonation flew outwards to annihilate the surrounding terrain. Buildings, innocent pedestrians, weak enemies.
Lash might WANT to have turned this into a brutal one-on-one, but the stakes were too high for him to play on her terms!
no subject
"OH NO YOU DON'T!" She finally yelled over her intercom into his. "Get back here!" The weapons fired from all sides, projecting the massive frame into the air, and probably hitting a few hundred or so civilian targets.
A building exploded.
If this was going to turn into a game of cat and mouse, then she was going to--
"!!!" Oh look. A glowing blue civilian talking a walk. Yet no match for a pair of giant robot boots. Splat. A few thousand points were her reward.
"Now where was I..." She flickered the remaing parts away and looked down at the controls, seeing if there was a red beep in the circle of blue ones.
no subject
Did that thing even have a fire button, or was it just programmed to never stop shooting?
no subject
"You're not getting away that easy this time," she snarled, possibly enjoying this a little bit too much. The left hand opened and flew into the sky, the fingers separating and forming a hook that attracted itself to the body of the other giant robot, making this one fly towards the other.
"Don't move. I'm coming over."
no subject
no subject
"You and your little robot are going to go splat reeeeeaaaally soon!" A little too cocky. A little too self confident. A little too open for someone to strike her.
no subject
Then the massive jumpjet on the back fired again, its charge fully restored by the break since its last launch.
And then its rear-facing weapons fired just for good measure and extra velocity.

"Hey! Watch we're your pointing that thin-" the metal headplate tore thought the controls, a little on the left of where she was sitting, and Lash moved out of the way as a series of sparks exploded from everywhere (not to self - do not make cockpits like the ones in the zords anymore). The lights started to blink around her with a series of aborts and danger! Danger!
"No fair!" She had planned this a little too well. To be out smarted with simple brawn...

Explosions. Really, really, really big ones.
A fancy glass panel was cracked. A fancy red button was pushed.
"Ten seconds until self-destruct sequence initialized," it warned her and Zetta.
"I'm going to wipe the rest of the field with one massive nuclear explosion in this one hit and you with it! It still counts as a hit even if I'll be dead after that!" Well not really dead. Technically dead. Lash laughed at her utter brilliance. "Tee hee hee, I bet you weren't expecting that!"
Well Zetta, what do you say to that?
no subject
no subject
Undone by a simple technically.
This is what happens when you play in a distracted manner, Lash.
"...oh! OH DAMN IT! FUUUU--"
"...1."
"Have a nice day."
BOOM!
There was a flash of bright light as the robot exploded in a way only Lash could have made it done so; completely over the top and probably exploding that moon in the sky. Debris ran over everywhere and everything.
The points ranked on her side for the near destruction of the entire town, flying so high it was a miracle that game didn't shut down from point abuse.
...Then Zetta got the points for her kill.
GAME OVER.

PLAYER 2 OVERLORDZ = 113929299017285922

Then a fist thrust up through it, knocking aside a layer of metal and stone.
Okay, good, that way was up.
"HYAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" The pile exploded outwards in all directions as mana wreathed around the Overlord. "Know your role, universe! I OWN YOU!"
...wait, where WAS Lash anyway? If she'd gotten herself knocked out as Plan B to avoid the hitting-on--!!
no subject
Lash coughed and a tiny cloud of smoke appeared, before the wind blew away all the debris from her using a fake currents in the sensorium and they were left with a mostly white room again. The explosion might have not have hurt too much physically, but damn if her ego hadn't just been blown up spectacularly like the explosion itself. She looked at the flashing scores above her in disbelief.
"I-I lost?"
no subject
Seriously, if she had unloaded all her weapons on him, even after that headbutt, he'd probably have gone down. She just HAD to go for the big explosion!
Then the realization of what his victory meant hit him. He got such a slow-growing grin. "Soooooooo. Looks like I'm the victor."
no subject
"It's not like I have many changes to blow up like that and still liv-" the consequences of what just had happened dawned on her, watching the Overlord's face light up like a bomb going off, and she took on step back, "-....oh. Dammit. Best two out of three?" Fault her for at least trying to get away with it.

"Hey! I am not Sonja! She would have done this in a much more boring way, I'm sure." But she was defeated. And with nowhere to run really, knowing how fast the Overlord had once moved to his castle. "Okay fine you win. Whatever." Lash was a sour loser just as she was the type to talk a lot about her victories. She'd get over it eventually, Zetta.
no subject
Then he realized to his immense surprise that he really didn't want to be cruel with her or even screw this up. THAT was weird.
It -- it had to be because he saw some of himself in Lash, of course. (And not even in the dirty way, he'll think THAT later).
So instead of something horrible, he just grinned. "So what do wunderkinds like to do for dates, then?"
