The Change [open]
Neither Rachel nor Marco had any real trust in the medical situation they'd both been forced into. It seemed like they had been tricked and betrayed; and it meant that there were instantly a few more people crossed off their list of who they should trust when they escaped. In fact-- it left them at each other, it seemed, when they did escape from medical, two cockroaches slipping out of sight while medical was distracted from them.
Of course, this was compounded by the fact that several communications posts went up shortly after-- one announcing a Quarantine (thankfully they'd gotten out in time for that) and one announcing their abilities to the crew to warn them. And then things got worse-- Marco's morphing began to get weird, and Rachel... literally split into two.
This wasn't going well.
((ooc: As Blue's OOC post said, we need to make sure that only the people signed up for taking the two 'groups' (Nice Rachel and Marco in one corner, just Mean Rachel in the other) to Quarantine are the ones who actually do that. Other than that, feel free to try and do it! Tag under the header for whoever you want to thread with and feel free set the scene, and ours will enter in. :) ))

Wait, that was a stupid thing to say, wasn't it.

Re: Mean Rachel [open]
Aggressive, he was expecting. Outright trying to kill him? Not so much.
There was a moment that he waited for the tentacles to swoop in and save the day but they didn't. This had to be a blind spot in the city.
Great. That would, of course, be my luck, he thought.
Or he would've thought that if he was thinking about anything else other then trying to breathe.
As it stood, one thing was in his favor. It was not his physical strength nor his skill. Oh no, it was certainly not his strength or his skill. It was that by now, after dealing with things like his life as "Harold," and getting beaten up a bunch of times, and fighting aliens, and after all the training with Zuko, his flight or fight response had pretty had the switch flipped from "flight" to "fight."
Both her hands were on his neck, which left her torso completely open. Even if it was a weak punch, a fist aimed at your solar plexus was bound to be a little painful and good at winding you if it actually connected.
Re: Mean Rachel [open]
The hit connected solidly enough, and Rachel felt the breath be knocked out of her as she winced and, consequently, dropped the kid, arms reflexively moving to her stomach from the pain of the blow. "That fucking hurt!" she wheezed out as she tried to catch her breath, voice brimming with rage.
That snot-nosed little brat! As soon as she had her breath back to normal again she was going to kill him! "I'll kill you!" she voiced loudly, growling at him as she tried to recover quickly.
Re: Mean Rachel [open]
"Worse things have tried," he wheezed out hoarsely, trying to suck in air.
Did I just make a badass quip?
No time to think about that.
He aimed a sharp strike at her torso again, this time a kick directed at her lower stomach. If this connected, it'd be painful, as he was kicking with a leg made of metal, he'd actually gotten his stance right for once and was perfectly in balance, and that particular leg had actually gotten stronger than the other because of having to heft a metal leg around (especially since his first model had been heavier).
Re: Mean Rachel [open]
"I'll-- I'll kill you!" she shouted again, though the words were practically choked out, between the attempts to catch herself from the pain. But even as she said she began to bulk up, her size increasing in large bursts as her face began to stretch out, the bones grinding together as they reshaped themselves, teeth growing around her nose and mouth as they melded together-- the starts of a trunk.

That moment was a very short moment, because then he turned and booked it.
"Big mouth! Why do I always have to have a big mouth?!"

< Get back here! > she shouted, in open thoughtspeak, as soon as she was able to. < I'll kill you!>
no subject
"Couldn't just promise to get out of her face, could you, Hiccup, noooo..."
Not that Hiccup knew it, but elephants could charge as fast as 25 mph. Humans could run that fast too, but Hiccup was no track star. He heard the pounding, massive footsteps right behind him, and without bothering to look back, he surveyed his surroundings. There had to be something he could--aha! There was a narrow alley between two of the buildings.
Veering off, he ran over to it and slipped through.
For once, being a pipsqueak served him well--there was no way Rachel could fit through there as an elephant.

She stampeded behind him, working to catch up to him after he had made his head start-- but soon enough he had ducked into an alley, where she couldn't reach him. < Get the hell out of there! > she shouted, telepathically, while she physically trumpeted, the noise echoing. < I swear I'll kill you! >
no subject
Yeah, Rachel, he will, like, totally go out there and willingly get trampled.
Only not, because that'd be stupid.
no subject
< I'll get you! > she shouted in his head, the elephant trunk reaching into the alley, trying to reach him-- which was hard, considering the bulk of everything past the trunk.
no subject
"No, actually, you won't."

He was escaping to the roof. Either Mean Rachel would have to change her tactics or give up. Hiccup was hoping for the latter.
no subject
Maybe she could change to another morph, something else with fire power, that could smell him and get in the smaller spaces...
no subject
"Okay. Okay, you can do this. You can do this, Hiccup. Just like the stuff you do in practice. Just run..."
He started running.
"Jump!"
He jumped across the gap.
And roll.
He tucked and rolled to prevent himself from getting hurt and found himself skidding to his feet as he came out of the roll. He didn't get hurt or anything other than some jostling and light bruises.
"Ha! Ha, I did it! Yesss!"
Okay, one more building.
Then another fire escape, then sneaking down an alley and peeking out.
Coast was clear! He'd left the gray, transforming girl-monster behind!
Hiccup made a run for it, hoping to get to the transport tubes or minimally, a part of the city that wasn't blind to Stacy's sensors.

When she had fully changed, though, she tried to pick up the scent-- where had he gone? As soon as she had a decent idea of what direction to go, though, she was off-- her new form quickly gaining speed and taking after him. She'd find him and kill him!
no subject
"Annnd I'm pretty dead. Yep. On the deadish side."
He was dead. There was no way he could outrun that thing.
no subject
As it got closer, she pulled back, and took a flying lunge towards him.
no subject
Because unbeknownst to the lunger until it was too late, Rachel would find out just how durable a Viking shield can be. It was a damn crazy thing to do and she wasn't sure what they were up against, but without a moments hesitation Astrid sprung inbetween the boy and yellow furred beast, steeled herself and threw up her thick wooden shield and braced for impact, hoping to create a sturdy block.
The thing was certainly fast on its feet. And with that momentum and air lunge one can bet it probably wasn't easy to stop.
So why outrun when you can give it a splitting headache instead?
no subject
Damn, Astrid, way to be a bamf."Don'tkillit, it's really a crazy girl that can turn into things!" Hiccup said breathlessly, skidding to a stop and nearly tripping next to Astrid as he turned around and pulled out his long knife. "Ithinktheone mentioned on the comms!"
He just, you know, wanted to get that out there before any killing was done. Take it as faith in your killinating skills as why he said that before a thank you, Astrid. The thank you would come later if the both of them didn't die.
