Xander found the selling memories guy too creepy. The only memories he would consider selling would be those fake ones from the fake older Xander guy who helped up screw up his first wedding. And he was trying not to think too much about the second wedding, even though he had been helping the Winchesters with the home improvements. Sam was still mostly clueless, and he was getting tired of Dean's glares.

At least there's another shore leave with plenty of housewares shops with supplies for guys who like to build. As long as you got the dough. Still the allowance Stacy offered helped a lot with getting much needed equipment for his shop. There were some fun power tools in one shop that looked promising. Also a socket wrench set that would make the Tool Time guys weep with joy.

"Yeah, Buff knows a little about that kind of thing," he agreed, and then his brain short circuited at Sam's next comment.

"You know? You mean you know-know?" Oh god, oh god, he's screwed. Here we go, another big rejection, you'd think he'd be used to it by now. After all, just because he asked Willow about gaying him up years ago means it really works that way. Tara, and Andrew both explained how it really worked in their own way. Plus, the less said about what happened between him and Mas...Dracula? The better.

Sam straightened, walking over to Xander. "Yeah, I know." He kept his voice down, trying not to spook him. "It's kind of embarrassing to have to be told somebody has a crush on you by an outside observer."

Seriously. He should have known about that on his own, not had to have a Yeerk tell him.

At least he sounded a bit bemused rather than mad.

Xander stood still with a clear deer in the headlights expression still. He gave a weak laugh though.

"And here I thought I was just being all ninja about it."

He snorted, shaking his head. "No. I'm just that clueless."

Sam shifted, balancing from one foot to the other for a moment. "Look. I'm...not good at this," he said after a moment. "I mean, the whole people having crushes and stuff. We never really stuck around anywhere for it to matter."

"No, no, it's all right, I kind of figured you're not into that thing, and you just want to let me down easy right?"

He shifted again, slightly uncomfortable for a different reason. Still, Sam looked up and looked Xander in the eye. "I never said that."

Xander stared back at him with his eye, and gulped audibly.

"Ok then what are you saying?"

Sam took a breath and let it out slowly. "It means...I don't know where this is going. If it's going anywhere. And maybe I need to think about it a little more, but...I don't want to say no, either."

It was all confusing, but it was hard to keep people at arms length on the ship.

Xander blinked. Blinked.

And then blinked a few more times.



"Sorry, I think my brain just hit the wall, what was that? Was that a yes or a maybe?"

Sam ran his hand back through his hair. "Honestly? It probably wasn't very clear." Looking up again, he shook his head. "Right now, it's a maybe. I'm just...not ruling out a yes in the future. Okay?"
