Mingling at the Bazaar

Next to the Mall Hotel, a large bazaar sprawled out through the streets. Food stalls, jewelery stalls, plastic surgery stalls...might want to stay away from that last one. But since the bizaar was close by, it served as a good place for the crew to meet up and start their exploration of XaXing.

Kang already knew the things he was looking for. The problem, however, was finding them, and not getting swindled in the process. He'd had some luck already, and he was hoping that the luck would continue, and he wouldn't have to search for more than a day.

This particular stall seemed to have a very eclectic selection: books in a multitude of languages, toys, gadgets, and jewelry. He was picking through the books, in Common/English and in Spanish. He hadn't noticed the woman nearby yet, and he didn't recognize the name Megamind.

She settled her hands on her hips, staring balefully at the selection - though she had to admit this stall looked the most promising.

She stepped back, tapping her fingers to her lips as she glanced around, eyes settling on the stalls other occupant.

"What do you think, huh? What do you get for a science nerd that can probably make anything he'd ever want?"

[governorkang]

Kang looked up, turning to face the woman, "What, me?" He vaguely recognized her from Stacy.

"Sure." She said, gesturing to the items in front of her. "He's a super genius, so shopping for him is nearly impossible."

[governorkang]

"I don't know, ma'am," Kang shrugged, glancing at the other items on the table. "What sorts of things does he like?"

"Roxanne," she says, offering a hand.

"And mostly anything that has to do with electronics - tech, he's very into. Space time continuums and quantum theory." She smiles dryly. Hard to shop for, indeed.

[governorkang]

Kang smiled and shook her hand, "Kang. Well met."

He paused, thinking, "...nothing else?"

First time shaking hands with a dragon man, Roxanne is doing rather well. She doesn't bat an eye.

"Well...music. He's big on music, especially older rock."

[governorkang]

It was rather refreshing, actually. Kang was used to at least a little bit of wariness from most people.

"Would I be correct in guessing Earth music?"

She nodded, settling her hands onto her hips.

"Yes. He's actually not from Earth, but it's what he knows, so..." She's having a moment, here. "Maybe he would like something that's a little out of the ordinary."

[governorkang]

"You could get him some music, then," Kang suggested. "I'm sure you'll be able to find something here that's similar enough, if you can't find the real thing."

[neveradamsel]

"I think he'd like that," she said, contemplating this. "Maybe something off the wall in addition to that, just for kicks." She leaned to pick up a rock that glittered strange colors in the light, examining it. "Something like this. What is it? Besides a rock, I mean."

[governorkang]

"I don't know. It does look interesting, though," Kang took a closer look at the strange rock. He'd never seen anything like it before.

"It might turn out to be useful to him, for some project."

[neveradamsel]

She liked the way the light caught the odd facets on the side. She turned it, letting it glint.

"If anything, it's pretty." She decides on it, nodding. "He'll appreciate the thought, I'm sure. Even if it just sits in his room on a shelf."

[governorkang]

Kang nodded, "That's what counts." Continuing to dig through the books, he focused on those written in Spanish. He was looking for something specific.

She smiled and nodded, satisfied with her selection. Glancing over, she lifts a brow, curious.

"What about you? Are you looking for something in particular?"

[governorkang]

"I am," Kang smiled, setting a few books to the side. "I'm not sure if I will be able to find it, but if I do, it'll be worth it."

"What is it?" She asked, lifting a book in her hand. "Maybe I can help." She smiles. "I'm pretty good at finding things when I want to."

[governorkang]

Kang finished up with one stack and moved on to another, "Something by Leopoldo Clarín. It's a short story called ¡Adiós, Cordera!," He wasn't able to pronounce the Spanish properly, having trouble with the soft sounds (having a snout was more conducive to hard sounds), but he tried, and it was obvious he knew how it was supposed to sound.

"Hm. Well, let's see what we can find, hm?" She moved to root through a neighboring stack, flipping through the books as she perused titles and authors.

"Interesting choice."

[governorkang]

"It's for a friend. I can read and speak a fair bit of Spanish, but I prefer Common - ah, English," Kang shrugged, wings rustling slightly.

"Common? That what they call it where your from?" She picked up a book, flipping through it. Nope, not that one. "I don't speak any other language besides English."

[governorkang]

"Yes. I'm from a world that has humans, but not in the same universe as Earth, as far as I can tell. We didn't even know of other worlds out there," Kang said, moving on to a new stack of books. "I... learned Spanish recently, and Korean, but I also speak Nerakese and a bit of dwarven."
