Mingling at the Bazaar

Next to the Mall Hotel, a large bazaar sprawled out through the streets. Food stalls, jewelery stalls, plastic surgery stalls...might want to stay away from that last one. But since the bizaar was close by, it served as a good place for the crew to meet up and start their exploration of XaXing.

[[ooc: This is just a general mingling post guys, so jump in and start threads, tag into other people's, whatever you want!]]

"Oh, you're the gal with the 'Gundam fights' and stuff! Right, right..." He coughed slightly, remembering everyone's reactions to the Gundams of her world. Especially Setsuna's- that was a good laugh.

"Well, different strokes, I guess. Nobel, huh? What kindsa weapons it got? Howsit fight? Don't recall I've seen ya at a Starfighter Training session yet," he mused as he piled the questions on, pulling a spring-like contraption from the junk pile, considering it, and tossing it back again. "Jeez, a million and one parts and they don't got a compact generator for a handheld beam device? Some universe-wide marketplace."

IDK but it took me about five tries to load this /punts Russian hackers

"Yeah, that's right." Allenby was a touch defensive about that. She still didn't understand how anyone who'd seen a real war could say that the Gundam Fight was worthless. And as far as Setsuna, he just seemed like a self-righteous snob.

But any inclination to argue evaporated when Duo started asking about Nobel's systems. That was more like it! "Well, I don't like the Sensoriums much," she said, which was an understatement. "Nobel Gundam's armed with a beam ribbon and vulcans, and she's great at hand-to-hand. Most Gundams in the Fight are melee fighters like that."

She picked up the widget that Duo had tossed back and then began digging through the pile. "A handheld one? Ya mean like a beam sword you could keep on your belt? That'd be real handy around the ship!" Maybe she could find some stuff to make it from scratch....

I gave up on tagging for a few days ;___;

While Duo didn't always agree with Setsuna, he could at least understand- at least somewhat- why the guy was that way. Or, at least, he could say he was somewhat used to that attitude. Either way, Allenby's world didn't bother him so much- it was weird and different, yes, but no more so than the worlds of many of the other people he'd met here. He was more than willing to take it in stride.

"Haha, yeah, I know what you mean. There's no substitute for gettin' out and really testin' your actual machinery... That thing is more suited to hand to hand types, I guess," he agreed. "Beam ...ribbon? Issat like a beam saber whip, or summat? 'scythe is a melee suit too, but not so much hand to hand- he's meant for ambushes and stuff."

Rifling through parts- setting aside a few cog-like gear pieces- he shook his head. "I used to have this nifty lil' personal helicopter-type thing, sorta like a glider, or uh... a parachute, but not one? Anyway, it used a small beam blade moving at high speed."

"I've been kinda bored, so I'mma build some of my old toys," he grinned.

quite all right, so did I /punts schoolwork

"Uh... yeah, you could say it's like a whip. It's got an adjustable strength, so you can wrap somethin' up or cut through it as ya need to." She thought it was a little strange for a suit to be designed for ambushes, but then there were even Gundams on her Earth that used those sort of tactics. For a real war, it made more sense. She began fitting a few parts together--there was plenty of scrap around for casings; she just needed to find an emitter.

She grinned at Duo's description. "Wow, that sounds fun! Like the kind of thing where you'd jump out of an airplane and just float down to the ground?" She'd always thought parachutes looked like a hell of a lot of fun. "I bet I could help ya put somethin' together!"

"Excuse me, but is this the sort of thing you're looking for?" said the stallkeeper, holding up a thumb-sized part and flicking a switch to show a long, purplish beam.

"Yeah!" Allenby grabbed it and turned it on and off a few times. "Here, Duo, check it out!"

\o/ I retuuuuurrrrn!

Duo nodded. "Sounds pretty useful!" At least, it made sense if it was a suit from a world where the object of fighting in mobile suits wasn't necessarily just to kill.

"Yeah, sorta. I mostly used it to escape some tight spots though," he grinned- although it was a bit strained, as he recalled the time he'd used it when he'd broken Heero out of the Alliance hospital and summarily watched the suicidal idiot plummet down a 20 foot cliff. What a waste of a perfectly good parachute that'd been.

That guy...

Stirred out of his recollection, he leaned over to glance at the device Allenby had busied herself in putting together. "Woah, hey! You managed that pretty quick, huh!"

Yay! /o/

"Then we should definitely build a new one!" Allenby said as she paid the merchant for the part. A little pricey, but hey, it looked worth it! She grinned at Duo. "I just put the casing together. This guy here's the one who gave me the actual beam emitter."

She managed to fit it in and flicked it on again. Right now it was more like a beam sword than a 'copter. "So we're gonna need a long handle and a motor to make it spin around, right? Maybe--" She turned back to ask the merchant if he had those kind of parts, but he wasn't there anymore.

"Well that's weird. Why'd he run off?" Holding the beam handle at her side, she hadn't yet noticed the tiny plume of smoke rising from it.
