Mingling at the Bazaar

Next to the Mall Hotel, a large bazaar sprawled out through the streets. Food stalls, jewelery stalls, plastic surgery stalls...might want to stay away from that last one. But since the bizaar was close by, it served as a good place for the crew to meet up and start their exploration of XaXing.

As generally untrusting as Tim was of these shore leaves-- he knew how some had turned out in the past-- and uncertain as he was about this... he had to admit to appreciating it, a small amount. It was out in the open-- but, more to the point, he'd have a chance to buy some more supplies. The plant suit was adequate, and he had his cape, cowl and utility belt, but he was obviously still quite limited with that.

For once appearing as Tim (he did need to do that on occasion, and he'd stand out less on a crowded merchant planet without the uniform), he lingered for a minute, near the threshold of the Hotel and the bazaar. This should be useful, if nothing else.

Jaime was getting ready to wander the various bazaars himself, so when he stepped outside the hotel and spotted Tim, it was a bit of a relief that he might not have to wander around alone.

"Hey, Tim!" He slapped the other teenager on the shoulder as he stepped up next to him.

"How's it going? I mean, I knew you were on board but I haven't actually seen you since I got here, I think."

Tim glanced up slightly as Jaime approached him, though he didn't really react until the other teen was with him, talking and gesturing. Relaxing his pose somewhat, he turned to face him more fully. "Hey," he replied, friendly enough, and with a nod of agreement. "I know, sorry-- I knew you were on board but I've been... busy, I guess." At least, he'd been keeping himself occupied in the month or two he'd been on board. "You?"

"Busy is the best way of putting it. There's only so much finding out that an alternate self was here before you that you can do before it gets old, fast," Jaime quipped in reply, smiling.

"Kinda glad to get a chance off the ship, too."

"I can sympathise with that more than I'd like to," Tim said, with a slight grimace. There'd been a fair amount of confusion, at first, because of the previous Robin that had been on the ship.

He nodded, agreeing. "It's a chance to get some supplies, at least. There's only so much to work with on the ship."

"You too, huh?" Jaime shook his head and looked up and down the lengthy line of shops and stalls.

"True enough. And you do need more to work with than me, don't you?" Having a suit which provides all your tools is useful in a lot of ways.

Tim nodded. "Conner was filling me in on some of the stuff I... apparently missed." Having a previous version was certainly another factor that made this complicated, for lack of a better word.

"Yeah," he grimaced. "I was lucky enough to have a fair bit brought with me, but there's no guarantee that will last long."

There was a strong hand clapping him just on the shoulder in its usual way--a little too hard and hearty.

"You're looking for more Bat-toys aren't you."

Tim glanced back at Conner, moving just slightly from the hard hand clap on his shoulder. Tim wasn't surprised, though.

"Something like that," he admitted. "Only came with so much in the utility belt."

"So what's the deal with being sometimes-Tim and sometimes-the-RR-word?" Kon asked. "You still trying at that secret identity thing?"

"As futile as I'm told it is," Tim agreed, frowning a bit at his friend. "It's easier to work this way I find, anyway." A certain degree of anonymity maintained, and able to operate separately.

It's his job to prod and pick at things and make sure you haven't gone bat-crazy, Tim. Just doin' his job.

Tim glanced sidelong at Conner's questioning. He wasn't really surprised though. "The separate IDs are better for investigation," he explained. "It's easier to operate under the radar with one name and more actively with the other."
