The Final Test

Eventually, morning came. For those inside the city, it had been a quiet, pleasant night. For those outside...well. At least no one was hurt.

As the sun rose, the sky took on an amazingly beautiful violet hue. As the crew began to awaken, they'd receive a message from Stacy, stating that those intending to attend the meeting with the Moai Elders were to gather near the massive stone stairway that led to the top of the plateau the city of Orongo surrounded.

It was time for the real mission to begin.

Sleep? You mean that thing people do at night that they sort of missed out on?

Is Kang really so easily fooled, Hiccup?

"I liked it," she hummed faintly. "Yes, if you must ask, Kang."

"What little of it you did get," Kang couldn't help the comment. It was infinitely more hilarious when it was happening to someone else. He was very happy for them, but he also couldn't help feeling just a little bit jealous of them; he really wished Fonrar was awake for more reason than just knowing that she was alive.

He adjusted the cloak on his outfit and gave both of them a very brief half-hug, a hand on each of their shoulders. "At least these fake marriages were good for some of us. Unless you're wanting it to count off-planet?"

"Oh...no, we're not--not off-planet."

Hiccup glanced at Astrid.

"If we ever did, we'd do it right. The legal negotiations, the animal sacrifice. Needs more swords. Also, the bride-running is fun, they really missed out on that."

Glancing at Astid again, his smile was small and hopeful.

"Maybe someday, though?"

It wasn't time to even consider it now, but if this, what they had, held out for a long time, and it still felt the same way, or even stronger...

She gave a broad smile in response to Kang's small, but mighty hug.

Hands moving to her hips, she exchanged a glance and content smile with Hiccup.

"Yes, somebody will have to show them how it's done."

Kang grinned, "And I'm invited, of course, if this wedding ever happens?" This kind of wedding sounded like it could actually be fun.

"Of course. Someone has to be there to fill the leer quota," was the deadpan response.
