The Sacred City

After the crew finished up with the Rituals of Judgement and Joining, they were permitted to enter the city proper.

Orongo was even more impressive than it appeared from outside the wall. Despite the primitive seeming architecture, the city was alive with lights and sounds and colors. The numerous stone buildings were covered in bright paints in beautiful swirling designs, each one a unique piece of art. People milled about the city in droves, many of them various examples of random alien species, though there were quite a few Moai and knee-high Rapa Nui moving about.

The priests that directed them into the city indicated to them to the Consummation Huts, where they would be spending the night, regardless of whether they chose to use them to their...eh hem...full potential, or not.

As they entered the city, each of them got the same message from Stacy.

||You will be spending the night in the city as per the Moai's instructions. Arrangements have been made to meet with the Moai Elders in the morning. For now, you are given leave to explore the city as you wish. I have transferred each of you an allowance of credits to purchase supplies or entertainment tonight.||

"Consummation? You mean there's food in there? Sweet! I knew there had to be an upside to all this." He grinned a toothy grin and took Lash by the arm to drag her to where he was sure there would be tasty snacks and concessions.

Down to Business

Even as a man newly married and in love, one thing is certain about Billy Cranston: he will never ever stop concerning himself with the mission. Once he and Ronnie have entered, hand in hand, he waits for the other crew members to enter Orongo's gates.

When they do, he starts coordinating a supply list with everyone who will listen. "We need to stock up on food, right? I'm not an expert in that category, but I'm sure someone knows what to get. And as far as engineering, we can focus on gathering simpler materials. I'll gather those items under my account. Do we need anything else?"

If there's any difference at all in his speech, it's that he's considerably happier and more bright-eyed than usual. Even thinking about the awkwardness of the consummation huts that night can't stop his smile.

Ronnie was right beside Billy, being her usually shy self. Today however, it was just that. She didn't have that air of being scared or anxious, at least not anxious negatively. She looked around the city, a hand always holding on to either Billy's hand or arm, not wanting to lose that comforting safety she felt next to him. It also was pretty clear she kept looking at him from time to time, a blush creeping on her face and a shy smile as she tried to look away before anyone noticed.

"Engineering supplies. I think it'd be b-best if we had groups getting things they are good with. There's a good amount of things I'd love to get m-my hands on for my projects and those of engineering." She said in an secure, yet small voice.

She leaned up closer and blushed, "I... I wouldn't mind if we got somethings for ourselves as well. I mean... we don't always have a chance like this right?" She looked at Billy innocently.

What? She likes shopping too!

Poor unsuspecting Fire Lord is used to Mai being, well, Mai, and the whole "practice wedding" thing, and the whole "consummation hut" thing, has put him in a pretty good mood.

Cargn, for his own part, was glad to be exempt from the Ritual of Joining. Both for his own sake, and for the poor soul who would have had to get married to the nigh-800 year old man.

Even so, he waited just beyond the gate, waiting for others to pass through after their rituals.

He would be off on his own soon enough, but even he was concerned enough for the mission that he wanted to make sure things went smoothly enough.

For her own part, Rhiow was glad to be off the ship for any period of time. Her eyes could relax for once, with the more sedate and settled structure of hyperstrings outside of Stacy's temporal oddness.

She trotted around the area that contained the consummation huts with her ears perked up and her whiskers twitching. So many species, so very many hormones.

Cargn she found almost by accident - or maybe luck. "The whole fiasco is pretty funny to watch, isn't it?"

Once again, Fate's face went completely red. She had long since gotten over being embarrassed over doing Certain Things with Nanoha... but still! Spending a night together in a hut specifically built so couples can consummate their marriage? Yeah, totally can't blame Fate for getting embarrassed over that.

First things first, Kang wanted to change back into his clothing, get the damn paint off of him (it made his scales twitchy), and to find a place that served burgers, steak, or some other type of meat. There was no way in hell he was going to miss a chance like this to get some real food, no matter the messed up circumstances.

And speaking of circumstances, it would have been a little rude to just ditch Karis without asking her if she wanted to join him, especially since it probably wouldn't help her attitude towards the majority of the crew, and, well, it'd just look bad to the Moai.

"So, uh... Phillip..." she said, trailing off while looking down. "Let's, uh... figure out the DoubleDriver to see how well we work together."

Oh, my.

Well. At the very least, they'd have a place to spend the night and rest for tomorrow. For Dhianeila, it was probably safer to stay inside the hut anyway and allow her wandering in the meantime to be dealt with via her projection, considering the number of others in the area. So that was where she headed to let herself rest while she explored.

Well, that... that was a rather matter-of-fact term.

Zouichi considered his options. He didn't eat or drink much, and he doubted he'd find any high-yield energy weapons in a city that you had to get married to enter. But maybe he could find himself a suitable knife for close-quarters combat.

Failing that, there were always souvenirs. He turned in a direction that seemed like it would promise some decent shopping venues, and started walking.

"Anything in particular you are looking for?" Anwei walked beside him, eyes darting over the crowd. Looking for familiar faces, or at least familiar species. Even if she didn't recognize anyone, though, it was good to see that everyone was looking so happy with each other.

"Entertainment purchases could include recording media. Or cameras. Or both - so that's what I'm after. If there's something you see that's outside your budget, I could share my credits."

The day had passed in a total whirlwind. Supply-gathering, exploring, smiling---it was almost too good to be true. Far too good to be a mission. It was likely that the real danger would come tomorrow, Billy knew, but today had been surprisingly good.

Of course, it was as tiring as it was enjoyable to experience a day like this. Lugging his last bag of supplies over his shoulder, he knocked on the hut door. With any luck, Ronnae wasn't already asleep. They had a lot to talk about.

Ronnae had gone to the hut earlier. She had a lot on her mind and decided it was best to clear her thoughts for the more than likely talk tonight. She was looking at her ceremonial dress with affection, it had meant so much to her today, at the sound of the knock she pulled the dress in front of her for cover.

"O-one moment!" She hurriedly dressed up again and opened the door with a shy smile. "H-hi" was all she could awkwardly manage before moving back to let Billy inside.

Mindy shook her head, laughing a little. Consummation huts. God. People were such weirdos. About the only thing she would use the consummation hut for was to freak out Sasami or something: what the hell else would she have use for something like that? She was ten for fucks sake.

"You know, they expect us to use these huts," Mindy said, although she couldn't help noticing that Sasami looked pretty with her hair down, that bitch. "I guess we'll just have to take turns with Negi in those things...unless you don;t want to wait for him, of course."

For the Doctor

After getting her mask (http://community.livejournal.com/trans_9/635707.html?thread=46870075#t46870075) made, Karis wandered around the city a bit longer. Occasionally, she'd glance at the piece of carved wood in her hand curiously. What colors had that Rom ended up using? She'd like to know, but she needed to ask someone.

Someone who wasn't going to mock her for it.

Maybe the Doctor. for a crazy breather, he hadn't been too bad. Time to find the guy.

The Doctor wasn't particularly hard to find. Just point him at anything remotely interesting and he was probably already there. Right now he was studying the big swirls of color on the wall. Very vibrant, and he wasn't just saying that, either. He wasn't sure entirely how much of the light spectrum their hosts could see but he was going to say that as a Time Lord, it was extremely pretty. Not even a hint of blah in there. Very impressive. This put even some parts of Space Florida to shame.

Intent on studying the paintings, the Doctor didn't immediately notice Karis on her own personal mission. Somewhere along the line he'd gone and lost Jamie (or the Scot had wandered off. Again) but they'd probably bump into each other sooner or later. For now, the Doctor was alone.

Setsuna entered the consummation hut that he and Feldt were assigned, and took a brief look around. There wasn't anything too out of the ordinary there, as it was very simply decorated, with just the one bed.

"I'll sleep on the floor," he stated, largely to put Feldt at ease. Though, truthfully, Setsuna was probably one of the few people in existence who could share a bed with a woman, and not think to put the moves on her.

Kaylee and Dean

There would be some fun in the city for shopping, but right now, Dean had a just married Kaylee in his arms with fruity body paint. First stop was finding a good hut for fun, and likely surfacing when they get hungry.

Celena couldn't help but take in as much as she could of the city around them even as they were led to the huts, the Consumation huts. She was very much glad of her scales once more as she thought on their purpose, even if they didn't have to be used that way she did glance to Aibghalien as she thought on the..possibility. She couldn't help but wonder what he thought on the matter.

Shaking her head though, there were other matters that could be tended to first though, "Such a magnificent city, and with the allowances we have, perhaps we should see if we can find," she suggested softly with a smile down to him, "Perhaps even share a good meal, surely they'll have something suitable," she adds after a moment of thought.

If he had any thoughts on the matter... well, he was red again, take that as she will. He looked hurriedly up to her when she made that suggestion, in palpable relief.

"That sounds like an excellent idea. I actually have a fair sum saved up from my work in the department, so by all means, let us look around!"

Now where had the Doctor gotten off to now? You would think that he could find someone as unique looking as the Time Lord in the city, but there were so many people here. Well, aliens, but Jamie thinks of them more or less as people. Easier that way. At any rate, there's no sign of the one particular alien he happens to be looking for.

Fine, he decides. He'll just do this the old fashioned way. Climbing up onto a small stoop or step or whatever it was next to one of the decorated buildings, Jamie cups his hands around his mouth and calls out, "Doctor!"

It'll probably not travel too terribly far given the size and density of the city, but if the Doctor's close enough, he should hear him. Actually...given the Doctor's tendency to pick up on Jamie's mutterings, he'll probably hear the Scot better than most. Hopefully it'll work, as he's not relishing trying to comb through the crowd again to try and find the Time Lord.

Jamie's right. The Doctor has no problems picking up on Jamie's voice. Except he's had to do it from only a couple of feet away, and the human has some lungs on him. Makes sense. Battle cries, that sort of thing. He remembers Jamie being quite good at them. His ears are ringing, the Doctor sticking a finger in one and wincing.

"There's no need to shout, I'm right here!" the Doctor says at Jamie's elbow.

Actually, he'd been in the area, doing a bit of poking, sniffing around if you'd like, and basically enjoying the sights and sounds. And possibly looking for Mr. The Doctor (he certainly wasn't going with Mr. McCrimmon), because it was several hours later and he was hungry. Just a bit. Anything with actual taste and not a cultivated blah texture like Stacy's slop. So yes. He'd been just about to approach Jamie when Jamie had to let loose like that.

The Doctor still hasn't bothered to put his normal clothes on, his shirt, braces and jacket slung over his shoulder. He peers up at the human on the stoop. Well, not so much as peers up because the stoop about bring him almost to eye level now with the Doctor.

Shopping

Wanting to go shopping without burdening anyone else, Ronnae decided to grab the things that she could use around the city. She made sure to stop at any parts shops to gather both personal supplies, and supplies for her assigned engineering projects.

She stopped at a couple of the food stands to try the planet's different foods, after all anything was better than slop right? She tried her best to avoid crowded areas specially now that she was alone, Nokosi and Katara not making it into the city, and Billy talking with friends. She made sure to have changed out of the ceremonial cloths and walked around in her trademark red Horde hoodie and long shorts.

Astrid stumbled into the clearing, having a bit of difficulty adjusting with her attire, and modestly trying to keep her dressy outfit down below her waist from swaying so much with every movement she made. It wasn't practical at all as it tended to be a bit too showy for her tastes.

Not to mention there were a few suspiciously placed red marks added in with the fruity markings near her collarbone and the side of her neck.

Oh, and she was being pursued. Vigilantly.

She snapped around and held out her hands peaceably and to block, grinning wide, "Okay, okay. Time out, time out. They said... they said they have a place for everyone and we have to find where we will stay. I need to think. Focus with me here..."

Sorry, the human leech needed to attach himself again, Astrid. Those long, freckled arms swept around her waist again, and he pressed soft kisses to her neck.

"I'm sorry, were you--mmm--saying something? I couldn't hear you over the sound of how completely--mwah--amazing you are," he said, occasionally pressing kisses to her skin in between words.

Now wasn't the time for focusing. Now was the time for kissing and attempted flattery.

He did try, though, crinkling up his face a little. "But okay, huts. They said...huts. We have to--to look for something...hut-like."

He vaguely remembered being pointed in the right direction but then he'd been distracted by how much he'd desperately wanted to kiss Astrid's neck in that particular moment, so he couldn't remember what directions they gave or where they pointed them to.

Actually, speaking of which, he was distracted by her neck again, so he kissed it one more time, before letting her go.

For Alastirra, waiting for Jamie was something she did with--well, far more patience than anyone who actually knew her well would expect. (Luckily, none of them were there or they might think she was possessed or something.) The Draenei had washed most of the symbols off, though she left the stripes on her face. Part of her hair was now pink tinged, courtesy of the fruit paint's strength and the fact that her hair itself was white.

Well, it might be a nice memory, for a while at least.

She hopped in place for a moment, letting her mail jingle, happy with its reassuring sound and weight.

When the human finally appeared, she flashed him a bright smile. "So, ready to go?"

Feeling much more comfortable in his regular attire - cargo pants and a shirt over his plantsuit - Jamie nodded at Alastirra, returning the smile in a much more subdued manner. "Sure. Where'd you wanna look first? Er...what kinda shiny things are you looking for?" There seemed to be quite the variety of shops and businesses in the city, any of which Jamie imagined might meet Alastirra's rather ambiguous needs.

Karis had her back to the wall, staring at the far side of the hut. This was where she was supposed to stay tonight. With Kang. In theory, they would be consummating their "marriage", but Karis had figured that wasn't going to fly with either of them. For one thing, she was dead. For another thing, Kang really wasn't her type. For a third, she was dead. She glanced over at the draconid warily. "...we're not doing this."

"You're damn right we're not," Kang snorted from his chair, looking up from the cube-like device in his hands and glancing at the bed with a frown. It was a little on the small side for him lengthwise. "Unfortunately, there's only one bed. You can have it; I'm fine sleeping on the floor."

"Keep your arms steady. Got another one." Smiling apologetically, she dumped another package of local food in Hiccup's manly arms.

She began to walk, then paused, lifted a finger, and faced him. "Oh, don't forget to pay."

Can't cause a ruckus since the people have been so hospitable.

Despite the fact that he needed at least four more arms to carry all this stuff, somehow he managed to juggle everything without dropping it and get the credits into the hand of the merchant, but even he had no idea how he pulled it off.

He grunted slightly, hefting it all up so it was easier to carry. "Where to now?"

Not even a complaint. Then again, some of the stuff he was carrying was his--food stuffs, three new tunics (a little more colorful than he was used to, but comfortable, and Astrid said the brighter colors brought out his eyes), some leggings, even a sturdy pair of boots.

Before Daimon did anything else he first wanted to see where they would be staying for the night. He rubbed his chest absently, a habit he'd picked up since the darksoul left him. It was strange to feel completely smooth skin over his chest now that his birthmark was gone. But those were not his thoughts at the moment. He didn't know precisely what he was thinking. Images of his wedding (but of course it wasn't really a wedding, was it?) to Patsy and feelings- feelings he'd been trying very hard to bury for what had to be over a year now.

It wasn't right to love her. Not then, not as the hideous spawn of Satan. But now that he was fully a man...

Patsy ran a nervous hand through her mane of thick, lustrous red hair. She shivered with nervousness, and she knew that the nervousness was evident on her face. She wished that she was wearing her Hellcat cowl just then. But that would involve hiding, and the last thing that Daimon deserved was her hiding from him anymore than she already had.

Granted, not that what had happened was voluntary hiding by any means.

He loves me, she mused. He loves me, and he loves a version of me that I haven't even become yet. She sighed softly. Cheese and crackers. And now we're married. Kind of. Sort of. Wherever face painting is regarded as being more of a valid marriage-thing than a huge, honking diamond ring. She looked up at Daimon. Maybe this will end better than my last marriage?

The Master Chief was by nature suspicious of strangers and unknown ground, and even more on edge than usual due to a lack of a reassuring MJOLNIR suit. So, it was entirely unsurprising that he decided it was necessary to check all over the inside and outside of the place he would be forced to sleep.

It seemed to pass muster, after he'd finished examining it to his satisfaction. Somehow, he still didn't seem thrilled by the idea.

Samus leaned in the doorway while she waited for Chief to finish his inspection. His suspiciousness was typical and a little endearing.

And oh-hmn. What joke to make at that? Didn't know you liked it like that, getting adventurous, Chief? No, too tacky. Splinters don't sound to appealing on our wedding night. Nah.

She glanced over at the bed. "It's big enough for two. We'll make a pillow barrier if you really don't trust me."

It's all fun and games until she actually starts spooning him.

Judau yawned, falling asleep through nearly everything that had transpired and being absent for nearly a hundred percent of the time. Nevertheless, he had arrived on the scene to see the city. Oddly, it reminded him of the society of the moon, or whatever that place had been called when he ran into those religious people; the name escaped him now. Granted, the creatures had made him raise a few eyebrows as he passed right by. Weird as they looked, so long as they were not those black sludges he saw at the Sensorium that one time, he wasn't going to leap at everything he saw that wasn't human.

"How long was I out?" he asked, rubbing his eyes to get the sand out of them.
