Stacy's voice came over the comm, blaring across the entire ship.

The mouth in the main sculpture on Obs Deck opened, revealing a screen with the image of a mottled blue and purple planet, rotating slowly.

Planet Designation: Gondepetil
Status: Terrestrial, H-class. Mass slightly larger than most Earths.
Non-sentient life: Extensive flora and fauna.
Semi-Sentient Life: Yes.
Sentient Life: Yes.
Water: 88% of the planet's surface.

Landscape: Short trees and scrubs. Most mountains are plateaus, terrain is hilly and rocky on 65% of the land surface.
Air: Normoxic concentration: 25% oxygen, 65% nitrogen, 5% xenon, 5% trace gases, such as hydrogen, neon, krypton, and argon.

Air Pressure: 17.02 pounds per square inch. Heavier than ship's air pressure, but breathable.
Sky: Blue/purple with silver clouds.
Sun: A class G2V, yellow star. The planet is unusually close to its sun, but its ozone layer is fully capable of filtering out harmful radiation.

Mission: Spiritual elders of the local inhabitants are in possession of an artifact of great importance to the war against the Ohm. The crew will participate in the inhabitants' rituals of judgment and joining to enter the region known as the Sacred Mount, where the artifact is being stored. The crew is to negotiate with the spiritual elders to acquire this artifact. The crew is expected to comply with any of their demands in order to successfully complete negotiations.

Time for another mission, then.

"I'm becoming concerned about the 'joining' portion," Billy added.

"Let's try to look at it in a positive light," Miku said as she stood up beside Nanoha. "Maybe they're friendly?"

"Eh, at the very worse, they handcuff us and make us run mazes..." Sonic said, joining them and shrugging. Reminded him a bit of the whole "Chaotix" incident.

"Oh yes, they're terrible things indeed," Cargn said, joining the group.

"I was wondering when we'd be coming back here," he added. "I came here before with a previous iteration of the crew. Few of us made it through the rituals."

Despite his rather serious expression, in his mind he was laughing to himself. Young people were always so easily spooked.

Billy paled. Just what they didn't need to hear. He made sure his morpher was securely equipped before speaking again.

"Is there anything you can tell us to increase our chances of survival?"

He looked thoughtful for a moment.

"Just remain calm through the entire thing. Fear won't help you here. And be sure to choose a partner you trust. That's all I can say."

"Got it."

Billy sighed---just as unhelpful as always, but it would help him to start sizing up partners now.

"...Few?" These things, Cargn, why do you do them?

"Don't worry, my dear," he replied. "I believe this crew is more than capable of rising to the challenge."

Miku look around at the gathering crew and straightened her narrow shoulders, "I hope you're right."

Dean had a mixed feeling about this, "What kind of rituals? If it involves blood or rabbit feet, I'm outta here."

Freaking witches.

"Nothing like that," he said. "The rituals are...quite simple really. I can't go into detail, though. If you know details of the rituals before hand, you're not allowed through."

"Of course you're not." Sam grumbles, shaking his head as he comes up beside Dean. "Guess we just have to be ready for anything."

"Yeah at least we can go armed to this one." Dean still felt comfortable going around without some form of weapon and or defense on him.

"Doesn't that make it dangerous tho? Going in unprepared?" She asked concerned.

"The entire point is that you're unprepared," he said. "If you knew what came before hand, you could 'cheat', as it were."

He paused.

"Though I can say, for the Ritual of Joining, you are required to have a single partner. One whom you care greatly for, preferably."

She worded what he said in thought. "A single partner. One whom you care greatly for, preferably.... So kind of like an arena partner?" She asked curiously once more.

Ronnae rubbed her eyes sleepily before looking around Billy at the screen.
"What's going on?" She yawned lightly. "We being attacked?"

Billy shook his head. "Not at the moment. We're being sent on a mission to a planet, where we'll be participating in a ritual of 'judgment and joining' in order to gain access to the item we need. The problem is that we don't know what this consists of."

"Judgement and joining? Like a tribunal of sorts?" She asked curiously pulling her hood up and pocketing her hands looking at the rest gathering up.

"I'm not sure," Billy had to admit. "It also says that we have to follow all demands in order to retrieve the object, and given my past experience on missions, that could mean anything."

The possibilities are starting to worry him. But he has to suppress fear and...partner up with someone he trusts? What did that mean?

"Well if it's an advantage against the Ohm... I want to help. Count me in."

She tried to stick around the people she knew as more people showed up, she seemed to start getting anxious.

Ronnae waved at Nokosi, "You seem eager.. That excited to get off the ship huh?"

"Of course! Adventure! Why not? As big is this place is, I feel like nothing ever changes."
