The Answer is 42 [open]

Reimi sunk into the water of the Co-Ed side, making sure that her towel was fastened securely before she let herself relax. It had been a long day and the Calnus was up and running. And yet she heard there was some kind of Darksoul slipping around but so far, she hadn't run into anyone who was acting out of the ordinary.

Sinking to the water, she poked a bubble that was forming from the jets and let herself relax a little more, the day's aches from working on the Calnus finally ebbing away.

At least it was nice and quiet there right now.

Katara was definitely a little unsettled by this. They were all fine a moment ago, why were they suddenly all tired? Was there something in the water or something? If that were the case, she hoped that Nura would be ok. Of course, she also didn't mind talking with Reimi either: she hadn't had a chance to talk to the girl before, and it had been a conversation of girl proportion that she hadn't had in a long, long time.

"If you're sure you're ok there Nura," Katara said, and climbed out with Reimi to relax in the cooler pools, stepping in and playfully making bubbles all over Reimi with a circular motion of her hands.

Reimi nodded as she climbed out after her and dipped her foot into the cool pool. She looked at her towel however and blushed a little. "Excuse my stripping but I hate getting into the hot pool again after cooling off with a damp towel."

Pulling it off, she folded it up and sunk down into the water, covering herself. "Now it kind of feels like a Japanese bath," she said, blushing a bit. "Back home before the war, there were public baths like this where mixed bathing would be even withotu a towel."

Still feeling a little out of it, Reimi nodded as she stepped into the water and yelped a little at the lukewarm water. "Eeeww cold towel!"

Her momentary fatigue forgotten, Reimi pulled it off and folded up the soaked towel. "God I hate that sensation," she muttered, setting it to the side and delicately covering herself under the water.

Katara nodded, taking the towel and draping the water out of the towel before rewrapping the towel around her. Luckily, she was able to avoid that feeling.

"Before I could bend, I know exactly what you mean: its not the best feeling, especially if where you're from is home to cold water all the time anyway!"

Speaking of though. "Where ARE you from, Reimi? Are you also from that place called Earth?"

"It's terrible," said Reimi, shivering a little as she let the water cool her off.

"Yes I'm from Earth, or that is to say a simulation of one. It's kind of complex but basically I'm from Earth after World War III happened. It was a war that lasted for 15 days, and drove our people underground to survive the radiation."

Reimi rubbed her leg in memory, as if she could feel the petrification virus she picked up on Roak. "We then reached for the stars, to colonize the worlds beyond. And find a place for humanity to live in."

Katara had not been prepared to hear that, to be honest. She moved a whirlpool around them, just to make things a little more comfortable.

"That's awful," she said. "I have to admit, I still sort of wondering why people do that to each other, fighting and being violent all the time. The only reason that hasn't happened in my world is because they didn't have the ability to, but it wasn't for lack of trying. It was lucky Aang was able to stop them."

They could travel the stars? That was something she was still wrapping her head around. "Did you find a place?"

"It was so sudden, an open exchange of weapons of mass destruction that left our planet barren. It will take a long time to restore." Reimi sighed a little.

She nodded. "There are a few worlds that we would love to join with, and we're opening talks with the rest of the races we've met."

"And then you were brought here?" Katara asked. "While you were trying to join worlds? But if that's the case, then all of those worlds were taken by the Ohm and..."

She trailed off. That was accidentally insensitive. " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say all that. What are you going to do, now that you're here?"

"They have been... and they haven't," said Reimi with a sigh. "If later we go to the sensoriums I'll show you what I mean. My world is very unique."

"For now? Get the Calnus into working order, and then try to get by day by day. Although regular baths are wonderful~"

"I would love to see it," Katara said, smiling. "There are still so many worlds I have the opportunity to see, and its one of my favorite things about this place. I'd like to know where you came from."

She nodded enthusiastically. "According to Billy, I'm the one that gave him the idea, but he and others helped make this place as wonderful as it is. If I could do anything to help with your ship, I would. It's the sort of thing I know my brother would like to do."

"It's a promise then," said Reimi with a nod.

"This is wonderful, and I love the idea. Water is so precious back home as well." added Reimi.

"In yours too?" Katara remembered how water had been scarce in Sheeana and Arha's world too. "I would love to show you my world too. It's very cold and frozen, but there's lots of water there too."

She paused. "Will Nura be ok?"

Reimi nodded. "Just mostly because we have to purify our water."

She looked over at Nura. "Nura, are you okay in there?"

They receive no answer.

Katara didn't like hearing this, and brought a hand up to Reimi. "I'll go check: I don't want her to go unconscious or anything like that. How did you guys meet anyway?"

Reimi nodded. "I was working on the ship when she came down to the hangar. We got to talking and she offered to help me with the repairs."

"Oh," Katara said. It sounded like just about every other way someone met somebody, but she was still happy they met: they seemed to get along pretty well. She missed having a girl as a friend to gossip with, actually.

"Nura?" Are you ok?"

Nura had actually fallen asleep in the bath, head resting against the side, peacefully sleeping, with her arms folded against her, and her lips slightly parted.

Getting out to join Katara's side, Reimi peered down, skin goosebumping from the slight chill. "Oh my she's fallen asleep."

Reaching down, she placed her hands on either side of Nura's face and moved to rock her head side to side gently. "Nura," called out Reimi softly. "You need to wake up~"

Nura did not wake up. She was still fast asleep. And if there were to be any judgment passed on how deep of a sleep she was in, one would say...like rock.

Katara smiled, looking at Reimi. "We can carry her over to where we are, if you want, or leave her be. What do you think?"

"I don't want her to drown so let's carry her out," said Reimi with a nod. "Can you get her legs?"

Reaching down, she wrapped her arms around Nura's own, gently untangling her arms.

"Of course!" Katara said, and bent down to pick up Nura's legs.

"You know, I feel really bad I didn't get to hang out with Nura more. I know she has her own family, so its not like she missed me or anything, but when we did hang out, it was always fun. She's something, isn't she?"

"She's very motherly, and a good friend," said Reimi as she steadied herself. "One, two, three!"

And she pulled up on the larger woman. "She's full of life and it makes me envious really that she found so many people willing to grow close."

She smiled. "I'm just as glad she has too. I feel like everyone here, no matter how they might act, all have their own things to deal with. That she's been able to not shy away from people and they care about her says something about the people on this ship."

She lifted with Reimi, happy she had built some muscle with all her training. "Where should we take her?"
