Spellcraft? Or Knowledge (arcana)? Who knows? [Open]
Having given warning to the crew as they asked -- and regretting the days in his own lands, where massive ground-shaking detonations would earn no more notice than a peddler with delicious folded bread -- Aibghalien stepped into the sensorium. With a wave of his hand he bade it produce the image of his former laboratory -- much like his current one, save the outer walls were constructed of massive blocks of stone, testament to its position in the tallest tower of the castle he once dwelt in.
Then, with more painstaking care than it seemed worth, he began forming duplicates of each of his magical items, pausing to laboriously inspect each one before setting it to one side, next to its actual twin.
This promised to be a fruitful night.

"...." She sighed. "Another one in use..? Can't really say it surprises me, this'll get some getting used to still." She looked around for a bit just amazed at how the sensoriums felt so real before she would decide to go searching for an empty one again.

"Ronnae," he said, adding a bow by way of greeting. "What--"
Then Shadowmourne spent just enough time in his enhanced sight to rock him backwards on his heels. He took a step back, bracing himself against one of the tables that lined the walls.
"What," he said a little more weakly, "is that weapon?"
no subject
She raised an eyebrow in confusion then looked over her shoulder pointing at the axe strapped to her back? "This? This was a very important achievement for me back home. A relic you can say. In one of my world's most crucial campaigns I was one of the chosen to attempt and gather the materials to craft something that would somehow edge the chances in our favor.... only if ever so slightly. The crafter called it Shadowmourne." She ended in a more serious tone not very matching of the young half orcess.
no subject
The truth was that he was hesitant to even touch the weapon, but he had to be sure of his appraisal. False magical auras could be fabricated; surely it would be easier to fabricate the one around this axe than to truly invest it with what he senses?
no subject
She held the axe in front of her after a mental debate, this ship is safe, this ship is safe, this ship is safe... I can trust these people can't I?.....
"Be careful alright? It's not a toy." She said in her cheery tone, mentally facepalming at her thought escaping her lips since she didn't mean the comment towards the male as much as she was recalling what they kept telling her.

Well then! That made her life easier.
The Draenei poked her head in and looked around. "Am I disturbing anything yet?"
no subject
He's extraordinarily pleased, now; he hadn't actually expected any visitors.
no subject
"Barring that, tell me where to stand so I am out of the way?"
no subject
He took a step to the side, out of potential lines of fire. "Would you consider giving me a demonstration of your capabilities?"
no subject
She took a step forward and gestured, calling her totems to her. The squat crystalline devices appeared, glowing warmly in the varied colors of the elements.
"I suppose this is one example," the Draenei said thoughtfully. "These provide enhancements to my allies."

Thus she padded in quietly so as not to disturb his concentrations as he appeared to duplicate his items, waiting until the elven wizard was finished until she greeted him, "Good day to you, Aibghalien," giving the elf a dip of her head, "I hope you do not mind if I watch on for a time,"
no subject
Turning back to his work, he created a staff to duplicate the one he held in his hand, then held one up in each hand to compare the two. Not magically, yet, but the resemblance seemed uncanny otherwise. "Besides, you're always welcome to stop by my experiments in any case. Though if we have another long enjoyable talk about magic and history full of intellectual diversions my next experiment might be a candlelit dinner."
He'd said that casually enough, but after he did, he went very still for a moment. "Hm. I said that out loud, didn't I."
no subject
Taking a moment to look around the room as he continued to talk before her gaze was drawn back to him, a curious tilt of her head at the last bit, 'Candlelit dinner'? Well now. The slightest hint of an amused grin touching her snout as she watched him a moment.
"Indeed," She replied simply with a hint of amusement, she didn't push the subject though, if he wished to broach it that would be for he to decide. She did not mind his interest though.
no subject
After a moment, out of apparently nothing more than a masochistic desire to dig himself in deeper, he continued, "I have not... ever, really, had the pleasure of an acquaintance that had both a curiosity and a mind to so pique my --"
Hmm. He wasn't sure what word to use here. "Well, suffice to say I enjoyed our previous conversation immensely."
no subject
It was not long before she returned to pad back over to him after that moment, a smile touching her snout as he spoke once more. Her curiosity and interest in the elf rose yet more as he spoke, amusement hinted in her smile as he tried to find the right words. It was clear that he held quite the interest in her, not that she really minded all too greatly in the least.
Dipping her head with a genuine smile, "I hope there to be many more to come then, I too found the conversation quite enjoyable," She replied sincerely.

"What'd you want to show me, sir?"
no subject
He considered his little instruction a moment, checking it for anything he might have missed, then added, "My expectation, however, is that I will not see a difference -- so if you don't see anything unusual, don't be dismayed."
no subject
He stepped a little closer, peering at the objects nearest him with muted interest. "What kind of spells are you going to be working with today, other than combat spells?"
no subject
He reached into a pouch at his side, to produce the material component -- a grasshopper's leg. "This is a useful spell, meant to make it substantially easier to leap either vertically or horizontally. It has further utility in that the greater the strength of the caster, the greater the effect. I'm curious to see how it will appear when we replicate its effects by the sensorium."

He had walked in on them in use before, but this was the first time his probing returned a sense of magic within. Eagerly, he thrust through the door - only to find some other mage's workroom.
"Ah," he said. "I suppose it was too much to hope for."
That cryptic sentence was the only thing he said - he ignored the presence of the person in the room.

Yes, only. Rude even at the best of times, Thom is.
no subject
"However, these rooms do not function by magic, but by an extremely advanced form of technology."
no subject
He pressed his lips together, thinking. "Or perhaps not." He had seen a great deal of things on this ship so far that he would normally classify as impossible, including magic that worked in ways he had never seen before.
It was too much to take in while he should have been focused on curing the taint in his Gift. But it was almost a crime not to try and figure out how it all worked.
