Double Header [Open Like Whoa]

It was a mutual decision that Rein and Ed would be passing customers back and forth between each other. Everyone liked clothing and people liked trinkets being made right? As thus being said, they had put up banners and a nice post with "Atelier Elric" <--- and "Stormwind Clothiers" ---> scribbled on it in fancy Crannagan script. Perfectly legible by anyone who knew at least English.

It was here both were getting ready for receiving customers and it was hoping that they would come and use their businesses wisely.

(ooc: easy enough. Put either Ed or Rein in the subject line so I know who you want, and they'll get something created for you, either it be trinkets/small items/etc or clothing. Both have cookies so drop on by. Repeat customers are certainly welcome.

PS: I am feeling much better this morning.)

Another Customer For Rein

Kanaya had been hoping to track down the local seamstress's, and the advertisement on the omnicomms had made it all too easy. As she stepped inside Stormwind Clothiers, she surveyed the goods on offer, hoping for some hint of the raw fabrics in use; truth be told, she'd rather just buy materials and camp out in a respiteblock to do her own work, but anything made of proper fabric would be more than welcome.

Once she could catch the shopkeeper's attention, Kanaya cleared her throat. "Pardon me, ma'am..."

"Please," replied Kanaya. "That said, I was hoping to ask you if you sold raw materials as well. I am something of a seamstress myself and had hoped to have something to work with. I can understand if you do not, but I thought I might ask."

Kanaya glanced towards the back room, eyes widening as she took in just how much was on offer. Even with her best shipments, she'd never seen so much cloth at one time in her life. "Th-thank you. My name is Kanaya Maryam; it's a pleasure to meet you, Reinforce. Is there anything I can do to repay you for this?"

"Rein, then," reaffirmed Kanaya; obediently, she took her place and spread out her arms for measurement. "I could give you the numbers, but we probably don't use the same system. In any event... something simple, please, with a skirt? For everyday wear, preferably, but this suit is too strange."

"I tend towards ankle-length skirts, but knee-length is suitable if it's your preferred working length. As for undergarments... that sounds easy enough."

Truth be told, Kanaya hadn't exactly been looking forward to having this conversation with a human. Nether-dressing had always struck her as a personal matter, and she hoped there weren't... measurements to be done.

"... I think that would be best," admitted Kanaya. "Forgive me, but the species gap -- it makes the situation a touch more awkward than it would normally be." Never mind that the entire concept of having clothes made for her by someone other than herself was awkward in and of itself; that level of awkwardness she could easily tolerate. It was actually fairly nice.

"The sensoriums? Do they actually work for working with solid objects? I heard about them, but I thought they were just -- well, simulations, not much more."

Kanaya's mood brightened again, partially because she was grateful for the opportunity to talk shop, and partially because this use of the sensoriums had the potential to be very useful. It would be a great convenience if she didn't have to worry about tracking down a sewing machine.

"I would appreciate the sewing kit," said Kanaya with a nod. "As handy as the sensoriums sound, it would be convenient to have something for everyday mending without worrying about them. Are you sure there's no way I can pay you back for this?"

[identity profile] alwaysamoirail.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You know," said Kanaya, "I was thinking the same thing. I've never really had a chance to talk to anyone who practiced the same art as I do." Rose might technically have counted, but they'd never gotten around to talking about fiber crafts. "If you'd like the company, I'm more than happy to give it."

"Wonderful," replied Kanaya, with apparent sincerity; the troll wasn't the sort to be too demonstrative of her emotions, but she seemed happy, if nothing else. "When would be good times? What kind of schedule do you keep?"

[identity profile] alwaysamoirail.livejournal.com 2011-01-16 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds sensible," replied Kanaya. "If I do not see you one day, I'll come the next. How soon do you expect to be done with the outfit, by the way? I see you're very busy..." She gestured, insofar as she could without moving, at the other customers in the store.

[identity profile] alwaysamoirail.livejournal.com 2011-01-16 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
"I very much appreciate that," replied Kanaya. "... Then again, I'm sure you understand how unnerving these suits are. Everyone has experienced them, haven't they?"

The casual way in which Rein said "if I change sizes" made Kanaya cock her head in confusion. "Is this something that might happen often?" she asked, realizing it wasn't exactly tactful but not overmuch caring.
