Queries and Quibbles--mind your Q's

Something happens outside the ship. There's a concussive noise like something docking, and then the doors to Obs open again, to reveal a mostly intact, but somewhat bedraggled away team. One of them is injured, and part of the group works to get her down to MedBay, some of the others look stoic and a touch upset with what they've learned.

Some look pissed off that their various morphers and power suits have been stolen away from them again by Stacy's tentacles or dampened.

Something happens INSIDE the ship. A handful of individuals are released from their pods after quite some time of running imaginary mazes.

Jean's really tired and would actually like nothing more than to go find some sleep, but.. New people mean questions and one has already managed to snag her attention.

"Well... Yes," Jean says as she pushesa tendril of red hair out of her eyes. "I'm Jean Grey, one of the current ship doctors...."

She trails off suddenly noticing her clingy leafsuit has changed to something just as clingy..

"What the..." Is her hair suddenly more... FLUFFY?!

She sighs, shaking her head. "Welcome onboard."

"Mon DIEU!" Gambit all but shouted when he turned around to find none other than... "Jean?!" He stumbles back.

"What you doin here?"

Jean eyes the new man - which by now is no surprise here - knows her. She tries to do a quick scan of him but comes up empty, which of course causes her to frown.

"Uh... Same thing you are? And who exactly are you?"

She didn't recognize him? Now that he was not expecting. "What you mean who am I?" he said, frowning. "It moi, Gambit."

"I'm sorry but I don't know you," Jean apologizes - though by now she's kinda not very all that sorry, she's just tired.

And she really hates Stacy and this ship and it's way of messing with everyone's minds.

"But let me try to explain. If you say you know me, we're probably from different versions of Earth - one where we know eachother and another, where I have no clue who you are."

"Merde," Remy cussed. "How dey 'spect Gambit to play de game if he don't know de rules?"

He shook his head several times. This place was starting to make his brain hurt. "You really don't know me?"

Welcome to the club Remy - everyone's brain hurts in this place.

"I really don't," Jean insists, tugging self-consciously at her new outfit. "Would I lie to you in your world where you know me?"

"Non," he said. While the thought of having someone from back home here on the ship appealed to him, the idea that no one on board knew about him or his shady past did, too. "So, you don't know about Storm or Logan or Scott either?"

"Of course I know them... They're all X-Men," she frowns again as a sudden wave of home-sickness washes over her.

Shaking her head, she eyes Remy for a moment. "You're a mutant I'm guessing since you know them too... What are your powers?"

"Gambit not just a mutant. He an X-man, too," Remy replies.

"You're not...Well on my world you're not..."

Don't think she didn't catch you not answering her other question Remy.

"What are your powers?" she repeats.

"It a bit crowded in here for dat, cher," he answered. Close quarters and Gambit's powers...not a good combination.

"I didn't ask you to show them to me," Jean sighs wondering why hardly anyone around here can seem to answer questions. "Can you explain them?"

"It better when you see it," he answered. Explaining his powers was not his forte, using them was. "You tryin' to read Gambit's mind again?" he asked.

Jean eyes Remy once again. "I haven't tried since I found that I couldn't... Which was the first couple of seconds wer were talking. Why?"

"Because you can't, cher. Gambit immune," he answered, an amused smile tugging at his lips. "But I s'pose you didn't know dat."

"I figured that out," Jean replies rather drily. "And you're right, I didn't but now I do."

She's really trying not to be too annoyed here...

"So what was your name again?"

"Remy LeBeau," he answered. To say that it felt odd to have to introduce himself to Jean, again, was an understatement. Not after all the time they'd spent fighting alongside one another. "But you always called me Gambit."

Jean had to admit that she really didn't like the fact that she knew nothing about this Remy LeBeau - Gambit person, and yet.. He knew her. How much he knew about her, she had no idea - but she still didn't like it.

"Oh really? And what else did I always do?"

"Bon, you a stubborn pain in de butt in de kitchen," Remy answered. "And your Christmas dinner kinda bland."

"Hey! I'm a very good cook and I'm not stubborn," Jean protests, her hand automatically resting on her hips. "Well I guess the other me isn't so much like me afterall."

"If you say so, cher," Gambit replied. Though, by his tone it clear that he didn't believe her.

She glares at him, she's too tired to try and be nice at this point. "You don't even know me so don't assume you do!" she snaps before turning on her heel and marches away.

She's not use to this sort of thing, and she's a bit worn out. Maybe after she gets some rest she'll apologize for being so snappy.
