Queries and Quibbles--mind your Q's

Something happens outside the ship. There's a concussive noise like something docking, and then the doors to Obs open again, to reveal a mostly intact, but somewhat bedraggled away team. One of them is injured, and part of the group works to get her down to MedBay, some of the others look stoic and a touch upset with what they've learned.

Some look pissed off that their various morphers and power suits have been stolen away from them again by Stacy's tentacles or dampened.

Something happens INSIDE the ship. A handful of individuals are released from their pods after quite some time of running imaginary mazes.

||That was Earth as it might have been and as it is in that dimension.||

If Leon could shoot Stacy in the face, he just might do it. Instead, he decided to cut to the case.

"Tell us about the Ohm. Are you part of them?"

||I am not of the Ohm.||

"Then what do you know of them?" Kate remarked, trying not to dwell on the fact they were on a version of Earth. Or how empty it was. Not when there was other things to focus on.

||The Ohm consume all. The Ohm destroy all.||

"Nice guys," Spidey comments, "Is that why we're here? To stop them?"

||Information classified. Mission parameters have changed.||

Earth. Earth-that-was. Alliance. Ohm.. it was to easy for the realities of what had happened just moments before he had woke on the ship to what had happened on Miranda. Listening to the others the older man tried to put pieces together in his head in a jigsaw puzzle that River could have tossed about the ship. Lots of pieces were missing.

"What is the Ohm created from? Chemical gas? Some gorram experiment?" Then he shifted on his feet, a deep set frown upon his face slightly creased from years at war. "What exactly is this Alliance?"

||The Alliance was merely an alliance of civilized worlds. Such organizations are standard to many universes, to unify sentient lifeforms in trade and non-aggression agreements. Sentients in the Alliance of Earth-534A342Z included Earthlings and many other species.||

||They were all destroyed.||

||The Ohm are not humanoid. Most other information about the Ohm is classified.||

A brief pause.

||The crew has encountered the Ohm before. ||

Alright. This "Alliance" sounds like... well, not exactly like anything he's heard of before. But he gets it.

But the Ohm. They've encountered the Ohm, huh? Definitely not the Yeerks, so...

"When did the crew encounter the Ohm, and what occurred?" he asks. It might have been before his time, after all.

Whatever this is, it's a threat. A possible threat not only to their immediate survival, but home. That was an Earth. The idea of it makes the hair stand on the back of his neck.

"The bugs."

He's been here since just about the beginning. There were the Yeerks, and if it was the Yeerks, she'd call them the Yeerks.

"There was that one bug, that was it's own thing. It read like a mutant Earth cockroach. The other bugs were different, though. Bigger--weirder. More alien."

||The Judas roach was an escaped specimen from a particular universe. It, however, mated with an Ohm that had hidden on my person, able to do so because of my damaged sensors. All Ohm hybrid on the ship, however, have been eradicated. The danger has passed.||

"How do you know they are all gone if your sensors are damaged?" Lyta asked.

||After the crew relocated to the Living Areas of the ship, the City Level was fumigated with neurotoxins, bathed in intense radiation, and then temporarily reduced to total vacuum. Individuals could not be uncovered by my sensors, but it was made uninhabitable for a long enough duration to kill every living thing there.||

||The only thing spared was the Garibah Tree, which was shielded.||

...ok, he'll skip over the implications of that for a moment. Time to bring this discussion back on track.

"You said our mission parameters have changed now. Changed how?"

She seems...almost...rueful about that fact.

Wait a second, what's going on here?

||Recently changed.||

Cybil arches an eyebrow at the hesitance in her telepathic voice. It's almost as if she's undergoing a struggle of wills.

"Stacy...is there something you want to tell us, but maybe can't?"

A pause.

||--classified.||

Another pause.

||Most systems are functional--that is affirmative, Cybil Bennett.||

"What, you mean you've been programmed not to tell us?" Spidey runs a hand under his chin, "The Ohm?"

He doubts it.

||Negative, there are no current malfunctions in the main engine systems.||

It's almost as if she's finding ways to say yes and no to questions they're not asking just to get around whatever's stopping her from giving answers, just so she can SAY yes and no.

Ok, Leon will play along.

"Are there any malfunctions in the pod systems?"

||Negative.||

Ask for more malfunctions. Ask, please.

"What exactly caused the mission parameters to change and by whose authorization. Is there some sort of malfunction in the main hub that might have caused it to happen?"

Crossing his arms the other Captain frowned still putting pieces together. "Did this Ohm do something to the previous crew?"

||Information classified. Information classified.||

As for the Ohm, old crew question.

That's a disguised no. Not the Ohm.

The mission parameters have changed. Just like everyone else, it didn't take Sam long to figure out that someone had changed them. The question was...who? Clearing his throat, Sam stepped forward and asked the simple question.

"Are we the only ones awake on the ship? Are we alone?"
