Drinking it up

Well, Ruffnut would be anyway. Hit Girl couldn't and definitely wouldn't drink anything alcoholic: as far as she knew, drinking dulled the senses, and that was something she couldn't afford. Maintaining the persona of two different people on the ship was no easy job, and it required her remembering herself and what she could and could not say.

Instead, she'd save a spot for her sparring partner to pop over and talk and converse. If the barmaid came over, she guessed she could order a soda or something. If anyone else wanted to converse with a ten year old girl wearing a superhero outfit though, they were more than welcome.

Hit Girl thought a moment. "I met Hiccup. He's not the strongest guy I've seen, and some people might think there's nothing special about him, and that actually works for him. You might think a little flash is what's needed, but people are looking for that. If Hiccup can be amazing and keep that under wraps, it makes me a stronger person to take out, right? I'm not surprised he was able to be a leader like that. A lot of it is strength and stuff, but more of it is planning, and even a little luck."

She snickered. "Hey, at least they're doing something. People in my world, if they're scared usually hide in their houses and cower. It;s kinda pathetic."

"But not you!" Ruffnut laughed cheerfully. It'd been far too long since she'd unwound and relaxed with someone, "Your world probably coulda used more people like you ya know? The people that do instead of the people that whine."

Well it had been a LONG time since people were actually complimenting her on stuff she did that scared a hell of a lot of other people. She didn't mind that of course, and she agreed with Ruffnut.

"Hey, there's a lot to be said for you too," Hit Girl pointed out. "You're a viking, which is awesome, you can drink whenever you want, and now you have lightning power! I mean, that doesn't get any cooler."

Sadly, her "drinks" are beginning to taste less and less.

Ruffnut grinned a toothy grin, "You better believe it." But then her face fell a little, "Just wish I had a chance to show off what I'm learning." Her glances shot left and right as if someone wwas listening in, "I wasn't always um...good at kicking butt. Just taking the butt kickings. Zetta's taught me alot." A sheepish smirk.

"When the Ohm attacks, you'll have plenty chances," she said. "I thought you were helping with the simulation, right? Youi did pretty good. I found out that my guns and weapon was complete crap though: only that gun Zetta gave me along with those requisitioned even made a dent in the damn things."

She snickered. "Hey, what you lacked you make up for in enthusiasm, right? I learned all that stuff because I was getting revenge."

"You bet!" She gripped her drink, "Gotta give everything all ya got it's the only way to win." She declared.

Another drink draining her mug and swapping it out for the full mug of mead. "So what's the deal with the mask?" A question that had been on her mind for awhile now.

"It's why the Overlord wants yoiu as an apprentice!" Hit girl said. "You kinda remind me a little of him, except with less laughing. I can see why he picked you."

She took another sip. "You can't just go out and beat up people as you are. There are laws, police come after you. Worse, the bad guys are organized. They'd try and kill your family and friends. That's why you wear a disguisse to fight your enemies."

"Ohhhh I get it." Ruffnut nodded, "Like, because not everyone in your family and friends could kick as much butt right as you right? So it's like...a shield for them that you wear on your face!"

...how articulate of her.

"Yeah, but my dad was the one that started the outfits for us, He had one too, and he was the one that made sure that I was trained to kick ass in the first place. We were a pretty good team, and we helped to take a lot of bad guys down."

Actually, that assessment was pretty good.

"Your dad sounds pretty awesome. Mine was OK." She thought back with a sigh, "I miss mom though. I mean I guess I miss them both. They were shepherds."

At the mention of this, Hit Girl was quick: she took a long, long drink from Ruffnut's mug, and put it down. She wouldn't take anymore, but she did this for a reason.

"I miss mine too, but unless Stacy can bring people back from the dead, that's not gonna happen."

Ruffnut blinked surprised b Hit Girl's sudden action but she nodded with understanding "I'm sorry to hear that." She bowed her head respectfully before meeting Hit Girl's eyes again, "He'd be proud of you."

The little girl exhaled: her head swam, and that was, actually, exactly what she'd been shooting for.

"Sorry, I don't really like thinking about it a whole lot, gives me nightmares. Dad didn't go out the best way, and I was there to see it. It sucked."

And she was back to drinking the cider again. "But yeah, I think you're right, provided dad could imagine me landing on a meat ship with vikings and aliens and talking books."

Ruffnut nodded a solid nod. "Makes sense. No one wants to see that. But even from beyond he grants you his strength." A smirk "Not that you need any help." she added.

Hit Girl nodded. "Damn right. I'm going to make sure these damn Ohm realize you don't go around blowing up other people's worlds. And you...well, I guess you're gonna go around being an overlord eventually, right?"

Ruffnut blinked looking confused, as if she'd never really thought about it. "I dunno I guess. I just wanted to get stronger." She finished off her second drink pensively. Thinking was a difficult matter for Ruffnut and this meant it had to be approached slowly. "What do you think I'd have to do? Like go around conquering stuff?"

The idea wasn't completely unappealing.

"Well getting stronger is fine, but you're that guy's apprentice. That means you're gonna follow in his footsteps or whatever and become an Overlord, right? And yeah, conquering stuff will be the ultimate goal: but you know, you start with being a leader and showing people what you're made of. Like, Hiccup and stuff, but YOUR way. How else are people going to follow you?"

"Good point." She pondered this some more and tried to imagine herself as a leader and conqueror. "Well when we get to that point then yeah I guess I'll be an overlord too. Whattya think, Overlord Ruffnut!" She struck a pose that she imagined was dramatic and badass.

"I think it sounds pretty good," she said, grinning. "You just have to learn some more, get some more magic under your belt. I'm actually going to be doing a little bit of that myself. Got a teacher. I'll actually be a match for you soon, and that'll help too."

"Magic like mine?" Ruffnut inquired curious with a cheerful smile, "That's so cool! With more teachers the stronger you'll get, and the stronger you get the stronger I'll get for training with you. And the stronger we get the more badass we'll be!" She gave an attempt at a manic cackle but it sounded more like an impish giggle.

"Well, probably a little different. I have to read and shit to be able to do it. That'll be annoying, but if it gets me stronger, I'm not going to be complaining, right? Also, the teacher is cute and my age, so even better!"

"Reading, feh." She rolled her eyes. "Not really my style."

The next part however earned a grin, "Oh? Cute huh?" She smirked. "Who is he?"

"Yeah, I know," Hit girl said, snickering. "I've always been more of a comic book person myself."

She nodded, grinning. "Oh yeah. Hot little redhead, really small glasses, goes by the name Negi Springfield. Heard of him?"

"Comic book?" Ruffnut looked quizzical at the term.

Then she giggled, "Hot for teacher huh? Hoping to get a little "Special" training on the side?" Her words were laced with mirth and encouragement.

"Yeah, comic book. It's like stories, but there's pictures AND words, so a little more fun than just books all the time. In fact, a lot of these guys on the ship I ready about in these books back home."

She grinned. "If I have anything to say about it. He's a bit of a sweetheart though, so I might have to initiate most of that. I can tell he's kinda dense about stuff like that."
