Podpop!

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescent lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

Nokosi had been sitting on the slick floor for the last few minutes, now; hands pressed flat against a puddle of goop, a lopsided smile on his face as the floor pulsed. It was almost like a heartbeat! Those Gnomes weren't lying when they spoke of their ingenuity. Or was it built by Draenei? Ethereal? They were naked, though, so it must have been Draenei.

"Fontaine!" he whispered sharply, "Fontaine, where -are- you? You know, these pod things remind me of harpies. You don't suppose harpies have captured us, do you?"

As his voice rang out in the large chamber, he cocked his head to the side, awaiting a response. Receiving no response, he finally took a moment to take in more of his surroundings.

"Fontaine, I-" his halted in his throat as he focused his gaze on the woman near him. His expression dropped as all the mirth on his face died.

"Ronnae. You're naked. Harpies only capture men, though."

She blinked as she heard a familiar voice next to her. Her gaze turned slowly to view Nokosi next to her. Almost immediately the hairs from the back of her neck stood straight as a quick yelp escaped her lips, her face reddening heavily.

"Kosi! Wh- wait! Look away!" She clenched her eyes shut as she vainly tried covering herself. "Wh- how'd ya get here too?! Do you kn-know where we are? Other than the vague messages from whatever this 'Stacy' is?"

She opened her eyes slowly awaiting a response. She won't lie and say she wasn't relieved there was someone familiar here, the circumstances however where out of her thoughts at the moment and the young teen was more concerned with her nudity than anything else.

He sat still as she spoke, silent even after she had finished, seemingly mulling over her words.

"Stacy? We're naked. Everyone's naked. Probably a Draenei ship. She said champions so I guess the Light chose us or something."

He squinted in the darkness, trying to make out the shapes of the other forms in the room.

"But if we have there's going to be a lot of angry Draenei. Isn't this the thing they've been waiting for?"

[identity profile] ronnae.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronnae opened her mouth to speak before she took in the words Nokosi had spoken. If this -was- a Draenei ship.... wasn't she in danger? Sure she was only half orc, but still... most draenei regarded her heritage with blind hatred a lot of the times. Her concern was clearly visible.

"Kosi.... Let's stay together alright? At least if things go wrong we can fight right?" She edged closer to him, her mind however was pleading that this was just a bad nightmare. (Where are you dad.... I need you...)

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
His eyes flicked from her face to her form as she scooted over the slimy floor next to him.

"Okay," he said simply. "You look a lot stronger than I thought before. Muscles in places most women don't," he added, "I guess all Orcs are like that?"

"And here I thought you were actually attempting to enjoy the sights. Glad to see you're the same after this- wherever we are."

He whipped around as he heard a familiar whimper, throwing himself at the large wolf behind him.

"Fontaine!" he exclaimed with glee.

"Why...Nokosi...why are you naked. Why are you naked and pressed AGAINST me?"

[identity profile] ronnae.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Ronnae looked embarrassed as was glad the attention was drawn away from her again.

"Kosi, I think if we follow all those other people we might get more answers..." She looked away for a moment.

"Ummm Kosi.... would you mind walking in front of me? ... I.... This is very embarrassing and I'd like to hide behind you if you don't mind, only till I can find some clothing... please?"

She looked pleadingly at him.

[identity profile] nokosi.livejournal.com 2011-01-01 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
He regarded her expression for a moment, trying to figure out what she was getting at. He finally shrugged his shoulders and peeled himself from the sticky fur of the wolf to stand.

"Okay. I don't think I'm big enough to cover all of you, though."

Fontaine blew a large huff of air through his nose and his attention turned to the wolf, following several moments of silence.

"I wasn't saying she was fat. That doesn't even make sense, Fontaine."

A frown tugged on his lips as he stood, staring down at the large beast.

"Okay, but if she were fat she'd know that already and wouldn't ask me to do something possible, anyways."

Another moment of silence before the man spun around on his heels, suddenly.

"Alright, Fontaine, if you say so."

The frown was gone now, a bright smile in its place.

"Let's go, then! This is kind of exciting! Fontaine said you could ride him if you want, by the by."

And with that he began making his way from the puddle of goop.

Ronnae frowned momentarily, but didn't pay it much mind. She was glad that now two of the people (Yes Fontaine has more character than many she has met. She thought with a smile.) she knew are here.

She hurried behind him, pressing her frame behind his back to cover as much as she could as they went up to where everyone else was headed.
