There's Snow Place Like Home [Bendytimed to between the Ohm simulation and the Second Life plot]

A recent walk through the hangar had confirmed to Jamie that the TARDIS had been put back into whatever place it was that Stacy stored ships when their owners were in the pods. Overall, it didn't make too much difference - none of them had been able to get into it anyway. Still, he had liked to slip away from time to time just to take a look at it and remember the adventures he had gone on with the Doctor. Part of him had been hoping somehow that it would have stayed somewhere where he could do that again. Even though he hadn't really admitted it to his friends, he missed the Time Lord not being around.

So it may not come as much of a surprise that the Sensoriums currently has a TARDIS in it. The wide expanse of snow surrounding it might be a little more unusual, but it does provide an easy way to figure out where the current creator of this particular scenario would be - should anyone care to follow the Jamie-sized footprints to the door of the seemingly blue wooden box. If not, well, there's a lot of the white stuff just sitting around waiting for someone to do something with it.

((OOC: Jamie is in the TARDIS if you want to pester him but if for some reason anyone wants to just use the setting for their own-snow related threads, feel free. Just mention somewhere if you're going in the TARDIS or if you want Jamie to come outside.))

A sympathetic smile crosses Kaylee's face--if it makes him feel any better, she feels the same way about musical instruments--before she turns back to toying with some of the wires, following them to their sources and their destinations. Slowly, she seems to be putting the pieces of the puzzle together and understanding the TARDIS just a bit better.

She's almost forgotten about Jamie by the time he speaks up again, and she beams at him as she gives the closest panel a nice pet.

"How pretty she is, of course!" Because honestly, Serenity is gorgeous and Kaylee wouldn't trade her for anything, but the TARDIS is a thing of beauty all her own.

It's what any mechanic would call the TARDIS, really. She's a marvelous piece of art. Kaylee spares a small laugh for Jamie's response between fondling parts.

"Jamie, ain't no gal in any 'verse don't like bein' told she's pretty."

True fact, that.

Kaylee's ready to dive on into more lines when he mentions walking around the ship. Her head pops back up, followed shortly by the rest of her, and she bounces enthusiastically back toward Jamie.

"Where to, then?"

hrrrngh sorry it took me so long dfzkbjerkjadf;

Positive words are good ones, and Kaylee's a firm believer that Jamie would do well to spare one for the TARDIS every now and again. Maybe she'd be nicer to him.

As Jamie lists out tour options Kaylee listens attentively, until he hits that last one and then she really can't help but grin like a little girl who'd just been told she could try on all her grandmother's hats. She plays it off as just general excitement at all of the options, though, because she really would like to see everything.

"Wouldn't mind seein' the wardrobe..."

but it's what I'm best at :<

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
She hardly notices how long the walk to actually get to the wardrobe is. There's so much more to focus on, to scan over and occasionally reach out to touch or fiddle with, and she's almost sure Jamie's probably had it up to his forehead with her constant pausing.

Jamie would probably be the same way if they found themselves in a music store. That's enough to keep her from feeling too bad about slowing him down at all.

Her eyes light up at the sight of the room, and thoughts of little panels she didn't get to explore on the way are lost completely. This room...is magnificent. She's already itching to try on anything and everything.

"Thought you meant a closet or somethin' when you said wardrobe, Jamie. Not all this..."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah, but I just..." It's hard to describe. Even with a house full of people coming in and out and cleaning up and changing constantly, Kaylee doubts her family had even a tenth of the clothes in here. Hell, she doubts even Inara's wardrobe matches up to all this. "Never seen so many clothes in one place like this before."

But oh, look! the racks wheel out and this is an exciting discovery that Kaylee experiments with on the closest rack. Nothing special about it, but there are more clothes behind the clothes.

When Jamie's found the rack he's looking for, Kaylee bounds excitedly over to join him, and almost immediately sets in on sifting through all of the dresses. She even pulls a couple of the shorter ones out for closer inspection. "Been collectin' for a long while, ain't he?"

"He did mention bein' a bit old, didn't he..." Not so surprising, then, all these clothes. Still must have taken him a good long while to collect and hang and categorize...

Unfortunately for Jamie, Kaylee loses interest in the short dresses fairly quickly. Instead, she seems to have found a rather large, somewhat fluffy dress that looks as though it came straight out of Earth-That-Was' mid-1800s.

"Could I? Y'think he'd mind?" It's a bit of a silly question, considering they're in the Sensoriums, but it never hurts to double-check.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-19 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
No, Kaylee doesn't imagine the Doctor would wear dresses at all. Then again, she also never imagined Mal wearing one, and they had an entire job centered around him prancing about in a pretty floral bonnet on top of wearing that nice flowered dress. If the Doctor was to wear dresses on occasionally, good on him.

It doesn't take a genius to see that something's slightly off about the dress. Kaylee peers at Jamie, turning the dress in her hands to get a better angle of it. For once, Kaylee can't quite place the look on his face, and she's not sure what to think. Nothing seems to be wrong with the dress, so it's got to be something else, something like...

Oh. Oh.

"...Jamie?" Kaylee is embarrassed and curious all at once, and it comes off on her face as a clumsy bit of a smile. "If it's...if I shouldn't be tryin'...there're lots more things to be doin' too, yeah?"

...apologies for the last tag? "on occasionally" what the hell is grammar, self.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-19 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Victoria. All at once, Kaylee understands Jamie's reaction that much better. She would feel the same way, probably, if Jamie picked up one of Simon's suits and asked to try it on. Time to get over someone doesn't always necessarily mean that you are over them, it just means you've have a little time to heal over.

Poor Jamie's floundering a bit. Kaylee gives him a small smile, and looks over the dress once more before wordlessly sliding it back onto the rack and continuing down the line. It's not her place to tread, and it never will be. The least she can do is respect that.

Apparently so, if you were able to write a coherent response after reading it.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-20 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee would really like to try anything on. If it's something big and fluffy, excellent. If it's something short and cute, that works too. She isn't exactly picky as she continues her way down the rack.

Ball gowns, though. Kaylee's ever only tried on one ball gown in her life (not counting those for masquerades in the Sensoriums), and she is more than eager to move just a little quicker down the line of dresses to get to those gowns. She's careful to watch for any reactions Jamie might have out of the corner of her eye as she looks.

Finally, she pulls out a teal dress with one side that opens up to ruffles underneath that just make it impossible to resist. Eagerly, she looks back to Jamie. "This one, you think?"

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
He's not lying, and Kaylee happily retires into the changing area with an excited skip. The dress fits alright, though it's anything but a perfect fit. It's a little bit tight, but Kaylee isn't about to complain.

When twirls back out to beam at Jamie, and nods at the rack closest to her.

"Ain't you gonna try anythin' on, then?"

Even if he probably has a thousand times over...

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Kaylee herself is actually a pretty big fan of those plantsuits. They give a decent look into the build of a person, and she's plenty appreciative of many of the men on board Serenity. Dean included, or he'll mope.

There are plenty of nice suits on this rack, and she's contemplating suggesting one or two of them to Jamie. He let her pick her own garment to try on, though, so she decides against pressing and just continues down the line of suits without comment otherwise. "We got time, 'n I don't think it'd hurt a flea if you did."

Come on, Jamie. Live a little, play dress up.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-24 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's clear that she knows she isn't wrong, and Kaylee just flashes him another smile as he disappears into the changing area. He takes his time in there, though, and by the time he's finished Kaylee has taken to spinning circles around the room, occasionally pausing to admire another dress before continuing on.

She looks up from another dress--this one a more velvety black--when Jamie calls for attention. While a part of her had hoped to see him venture out of his comfort zone some, she can't help but admit that he looks absolutely shiny in this fancy get-up.

"Completely dashin'," the mechanic replies, sincere as can be. "Suits you."
