There's Snow Place Like Home [Bendytimed to between the Ohm simulation and the Second Life plot]
A recent walk through the hangar had confirmed to Jamie that the TARDIS had been put back into whatever place it was that Stacy stored ships when their owners were in the pods. Overall, it didn't make too much difference - none of them had been able to get into it anyway. Still, he had liked to slip away from time to time just to take a look at it and remember the adventures he had gone on with the Doctor. Part of him had been hoping somehow that it would have stayed somewhere where he could do that again. Even though he hadn't really admitted it to his friends, he missed the Time Lord not being around.
So it may not come as much of a surprise that the Sensoriums currently has a TARDIS in it. The wide expanse of snow surrounding it might be a little more unusual, but it does provide an easy way to figure out where the current creator of this particular scenario would be - should anyone care to follow the Jamie-sized footprints to the door of the seemingly blue wooden box. If not, well, there's a lot of the white stuff just sitting around waiting for someone to do something with it.
((OOC: Jamie is in the TARDIS if you want to pester him but if for some reason anyone wants to just use the setting for their own-snow related threads, feel free. Just mention somewhere if you're going in the TARDIS or if you want Jamie to come outside.))

When twirls back out to beam at Jamie, and nods at the rack closest to her.
"Ain't you gonna try anythin' on, then?"
Even if he probably has a thousand times over...

But every time he sees her in one, he can't help but think that she looks bonny in them. And that she looks happy, as well. This time is no exception, even if it's a little tight on her. Although...if Jamie's going to be honest with himself, he actually likes that even better. Whichever way you slice it, though, they suit her, and he smiles.
He decides that now might be a good time to take her advice, and he starts to do just that. "Kaylee, ye...oh." He's neatly distracted by the nod over to the rack, and turns to look at it, compliment temporarily forgotten. There's a familiar looking plaid in that rack, and he goes over to pull it free - although he attempts to place his body between her and it, just so she doesn't get any bright ideas about dressing him up in something with pants.
"Aye, well, I'd not thought to do so, but maybe I could at that."
no subject
There are plenty of nice suits on this rack, and she's contemplating suggesting one or two of them to Jamie. He let her pick her own garment to try on, though, so she decides against pressing and just continues down the line of suits without comment otherwise. "We got time, 'n I don't think it'd hurt a flea if you did."
Come on, Jamie. Live a little, play dress up.
no subject
"Aye," Jamie says, folding his bundle of clothing over so it simply looks like a mass of cloth. "I'd not say you'd be wrong there."
He disappears into the same changing area that she was just in, and is gone for quite a bit longer than if he had been putting on a simple suit. When he comes out, though, he's still wearing a kilt. It just happens to be a great kilt, complete with the extra fabric worn as a plaid over his shoulder. There's also a 18th-century coat, a shirt with frilled edges and a sash with silver accents holding the plaid in place. The plantsuit appears to be nowhere to be seen.
"Well?" he asks Kaylee, curious to see what her reaction is.
no subject
She looks up from another dress--this one a more velvety black--when Jamie calls for attention. While a part of her had hoped to see him venture out of his comfort zone some, she can't help but admit that he looks absolutely shiny in this fancy get-up.
"Completely dashin'," the mechanic replies, sincere as can be. "Suits you."
no subject
Smoothing down the plaid over his shoulder for a moment, his gaze alights on the black velvet dress that she's been looking at. "Why don't ye try that on on as well?"
He knows it's a slightly different cut, and not as colorful as the dresses she usually likes to wear. But a small part of him wants to see what she looks like in the dress all the same.
"Like ye said, we have time."
no subject
Kaylee laughs, sliding the velvet dress off of its hanger. It looks like it might fit better than the blue one, at the very least. They've definitely got time for it...
She flashes him another smile, and disappears to go change again. It takes a little longer this round--she has to get out of the first dress and into the second, and get herself all unzipped and rezipped and everything else, but finally Kaylee steps back out.
"Bit colorless, but..."
no subject
This is completely true. He still doesn't know what Stacy was thinking, dressing him up like that. Next time he vows to wear something more suitable to him. Like the great kilt. He's thought it up a few times the Sensorium before, and each time he thinks that he'd like to replace it. It's not like the TARDIS is going to turn up again with the actual wardrobe room for him to go find the outfit, after all.
When Kaylee comes out, he can't help but notice that it does fit her better. And, despite the lack of color to it, looks very nice on her, indeed. Without thinking, Jamie opens his mouth, and the words he didn't say earlier finally come out.
"Ye look bonny in it, Kaylee."
no subject
Not that Kaylee hadn't liked her own costume. The little honeybee dress had been plenty cute, and wasn't something she got to dress up in all that often. Kind of like right now, with all the dresses she's got access to...
Right at this moment, she's quite pleased with the one she's wearing. She hadn't been lying when she had told Jamie girls liked those little compliments about how pretty they were on occasion, and the mechanic is no exception. Her smile widens, and if it were any brighter it would probably light up the room.
"You mean it?"
no subject
As a matter of fact, when Kaylee smiles like that, he actually thinks she's quite beautiful. And if she hadn't been with Dean, he would have given serious thought to stepping forward and kissing her right then to show her he meant it.
He does step forward...but it's only to offer her his arm. It's not quite as gallant as it could be, unfortunately. He still doesn't have that part of it down just right yet.
"Well, now that we're dressed, there's somewhere else I'd like to show ye, if you'll go."
no subject
Taking Jamie's arm reminds her a bit of home, and attending that shindig with Mal. She certainly hadn't been the most graceful thing there, but once she had settled in some and started making friends she felt just like the belle of the ball should. This has that same feel to it, the knowledge that somewhere, under the grease and grime, she's able to look at least a little bit like a lady.
"Lead the way, sir," she giggles, nodding toward the door.
no subject
The trip this time is considerably shorter, just a few quick turns and twists. He stops outside a door that, at first glimpse, looks like part of the wall itself. But there's lines that indicate where the entrance would be.
"This isn't it," he mentions offhandedly. "I just need to fetch something from my room first, though, if ye don't mind?"
no subject
There's no real reason for it, but Kaylee finds herself a bit surprised at the mention of Jamie's room. She knows he had stayed on the TARDIS for quite some time, and obviously he was bound to have a room on it. Maybe it's that re-realization after a tour of such an amazing ship that throws her. Jamie, right here in front of her, actually got to live and travel with this boat.
She nods him in. "Don't mind at all, so long as you don't take an hour in there."
no subject
He pushes open the door, revealing a glimpse of more white walls, and what appears to be a wooden bed with a blanket neatly folded at the end of it pushed up against the far wall. There's a small shelf that contains a bunch of things Jamie finds interesting - mostly a lot of small items from the twentieth century, a couple of toys and interesting little stones. There's a picture frame there, too, containing a couple of what appear to be photographs tucked inside, although it's hard to tell of who from the hallway.
The door swings shut as Jamie steps through it, leaving Kaylee alone in the hallway for the moment.
no subject
She manages not to be too nosy about what all is in Jamie's room, just a quick glance to see what bedrooms on the TARDIS might look like. Once the door closes, she spins around to take in the surrounding hallway.
It's not terribly exciting, unfortunately. There's an abundance of white walls, to be sure, but there isn't much else except an access panel. Where there's an access panel, there's normally a curious Kaylee. She doesn't try to open it, she can't without her tools, but she does step closer to get a better look at it and make up all kinds of ideas on what might be behind the panel while she waits for Jamie.
no subject
Fortunately for Kaylee, she doesn't have to stare at the panel too long. Jamie is indeed fairly quick to return, holding what looks like a small radio in his hand. He grins a little when he sees her by the access panel, but hides it quickly, instead stepping over to her side.
"Och, ye don't want to look at that right now, do ye?"
no subject
As soon as he's by her side, Kaylee straightens back up, a look of pure innocence on her face as she eyes Jamie's hidden hand. "Not right now, no," she replies. "Wouldn't want to mess up the dress, at the very least."
no subject
He doesn't offer his arm just yet, though, instead giving her a thoughtful look. "I'll tell ye what, Kaylee. There's a panel over by where I had it in mind to go. If, when we get there, ye would prefer to take a look in it instead, I'll fetch some tools for ye. Fair enough?"
no subject
Unfazed, Kaylee listens to Jamie's offer and ponders it for all of half a second before she shakes her head. "There ain't a chance in di yu I'd rather look at a panel than experience this surprise of yours." She means that, and not only because Jamie's mind probably hasn't filled in all the TARDIS workings just right. Spending time with friends is more important. Exploration can wait.
no subject
It's just as well, really, because he has no idea what's behind the access panel anyway.
"Aye, well, then. I've just one more question for ye. Blue or green?"
no subject
A question about color isn't exactly what Kaylee was expecting. There's almost no hesitation as she thinks of the first dress she tried on. "Blue?"
no subject
Blue takes them up some stairs, down another corridor, past something that really does smell like it should be the swimming pool, around a series of bins, down some stairs and finally to a single door - still white, but with a faint blue sheen to the roundels that are on it.
Jamie pushes it open to reveal what looks to be an art gallery, with many different pieces from all over the known universe.
"Here we are. Blue, as ye have requested."
no subject
The tinge of blue is a welcome change in color scheme, but the room beyond knocks that thought process right out of her head. "Where's it all from?" she asks, taking a step forward. The room is amazing, filled with so many things that she doesn't really know where to start. Finally, she turns back to Jamie, holding her hand out to him.
"Well, c'mon, I don't know what half of this is. Need a tour guide."
no subject
But when Kaylee holds out her hand, he reaches out to take it anyway. If a tour guide is what she wants, a tour guide is what she'll get. Besides, the Doctor's put up some of those wee bitty placards on some of these things...he thinks. "Aye, well," he comments dryly, "Haven't I been doing that already?"
He nods in the direction of a large portrait of a hook-nosed woman, regal in her robes of state, a tiny green kitten curled up in her lap. "So, here ye have a painting. As ye can tell, it's of a woman."
no subject
For now, Kaylee looks plenty smug as Jamie takes her hand, and stares at the first painting as expectantly as any museum-goer might. She even does a decent job of not giggling while he explains the portrait, and gives the appropriate little ooh's and aah's where necessary.
"It's a very nice paintin'," she comments. "I particularly like the colorin'."
