Ten rounds at the Drunken Dragon...

The addition of a few new drinks, Kaylee hopes, will help get a few newbies into the bar, which will hopefully help it getting everyone a bit more relaxed than they have been. Not everyone on Stacy necessarily like beer or ale, so some vodka and wine open it up nicely to different tastes. Kaylee has also managed to rig up some nice cross-between-Chinese-and-folksy-sounding music, which she can be found dancing to on occasion behind the bar or while she's delivering drinks to tables.

Bar's open, everybody. Come try the new drinks--just don't start any trouble, or the Draconian in the corner will take you out.

Katara looked up and gave Kaylee a broad smile. "Oh hi Kaylee! I haven't seen you in a bit, how are you? I'm just looking for a glass of wine, have some things to look over tonight, and I just want something light and refreshing."

She put her papers down. "Did you get caught up in the Steve monster thing at all?"

"I know what you mean," Katara said, chuckling and taking a small sip of the wine. Mmm. Light, crisp, with a warming feeling. SO much better than beer, in her opinion. "If I ever actually have time to myself, something is probably wrong."

She looked at her with an amused look. "You go looking for trouble is how it happened. If I'd been smart, I would have left him alone and stayed in the Outsider's headquarters healing people. Instead I tried to talk Steve down. It didn't end well."

She has a scar to prove it: a small one, but still.

"I wish there was a bunker," Katara said, not bitterly even though she meant the statement. "I mean, when these things happen, no one really knows where they need to go, what to do. They just sort of get caught up in the craziness. It'd be nice to have a bunker, really."

She took another sip of wine, then put her glass down. "I hoped I could have been more help, but the situation was pretty delicate, it wasn't like we could just go charging into battle after him like usual. It was really tricky."

Katara WAS still kind of curious about Kaylee and Jamie, but she was stifling that curiosity for the moment.

She smiled. "Actually, that's whay I'm here with all thsi paperwork. I'm co-leader of the Outsiders, kind of a child version of a lot of the teams gathered on the ship, but there are teens and a few adults there too. I'm trying to figure out what else I can do to help them. You know, if you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them."

She nodded. She remembered all too well the last time she was conflicted on choice: the Ohm attack, and leaving Dean and the others to put out the fire sos he could fight another advancubng Ohm. She had thought it had been the wrong decision, but realized that taking down an Ohm who could cause MORE potential damage was worse than leaving her team members.

"Yeah, I hear you," she said, taking another siop of wine. "What do you do for fun, Kaylee? I haven't been having a lot of that lately, to be honest."

"That sounds like a great idea!" Katara said. "Honestly, Billy had tried to teach me bits and pieces, but my brother is really the guy that has the mind for it! Still, a lot of them are different, I'll see who likes what. I know this sounds like something Lash already does."

She knew exactly what Kaylee was talking about: it had been the thing that had kept her sane on the ship. She remembered all of them when Stacy had allowed, and they had all helped in the changes that led to her now. She remembered that this was why she liked Kaylee: at times, they thought the same way.

"It sounds like a great job," she said. "I haven't kept track of the Council...are you on it? You sound a little like you could be."

"Yeah, it was," Katara said, looking a little wistful. "If he were still here, I'm sure he would have been knee deep in engineering. He was already starting to learn a little about how things worked. And Lash is...pretty interesting, last I heard."

She laughed. "I help run the Outsiders, I still train in sword fighting and combat with Kang and Ronan, and get to train on my own. I barely have time to do something like that. It's something you have to devote a lot of yourself to. Besides, I'd rather learn about other people and their differences all on my own. If anyone from council needs help, I can try and lend a hand."

Especially if said Council member was Matt, but Katara left that part out.
