Ten rounds at the Drunken Dragon...
The addition of a few new drinks, Kaylee hopes, will help get a few newbies into the bar, which will hopefully help it getting everyone a bit more relaxed than they have been. Not everyone on Stacy necessarily like beer or ale, so some vodka and wine open it up nicely to different tastes. Kaylee has also managed to rig up some nice cross-between-Chinese-and-folksy-sounding music, which she can be found dancing to on occasion behind the bar or while she's delivering drinks to tables.
Bar's open, everybody. Come try the new drinks--just don't start any trouble, or the Draconian in the corner will take you out.

It said a lot, about both of their characters, that Kaylee couldn't help but think she might have done the same, even knowing the consequences.
"You tried, and that's more than a lot of folks could say."

She took another sip of wine, then put her glass down. "I hoped I could have been more help, but the situation was pretty delicate, it wasn't like we could just go charging into battle after him like usual. It was really tricky."
Katara WAS still kind of curious about Kaylee and Jamie, but she was stifling that curiosity for the moment.

Kaylee leaned to rest her elbows on the counter, taking a draw from her mug of cider. The entire situation sounded like their encounter with Dobson back home, in a way. A delicate situation and a madman with a nervous trigger finger... "That's life in a nutshell, though. A bunch of sensitive choices that all hold more meanin' than people think they do. But you gotta make 'em anyways, and even when they don't work out the way you planned don't necessarily mean they was wrong."

She nodded. She remembered all too well the last time she was conflicted on choice: the Ohm attack, and leaving Dean and the others to put out the fire sos he could fight another advancubng Ohm. She had thought it had been the wrong decision, but realized that taking down an Ohm who could cause MORE potential damage was worse than leaving her team members.
"Yeah, I hear you," she said, taking another siop of wine. "What do you do for fun, Kaylee? I haven't been having a lot of that lately, to be honest."

Kaylee laughed, motioning around the bar.
"This is a part of my fun," she replied. "I like talkin' with folks, like hearin' their stories, and this is a pretty shiny place for just that. Fiddle with mechanics for another part of my fun. There's always somethin' that might be better just around the next screw turn..." Thrilling, was what that was. "And friends 'n crew...nothin' tops bein' around them durin' my downtime."

She knew exactly what Kaylee was talking about: it had been the thing that had kept her sane on the ship. She remembered all of them when Stacy had allowed, and they had all helped in the changes that led to her now. She remembered that this was why she liked Kaylee: at times, they thought the same way.
"It sounds like a great job," she said. "I haven't kept track of the Council...are you on it? You sound a little like you could be."

Ah, but the Council. Kaylee smiled, wrinkling her nose the slightest bit. "Not on the Council, unless they voted me onto it without my knowin'. Ain't exactly my cup of tea. But I could ask why you ain't on it either..."

She laughed. "I help run the Outsiders, I still train in sword fighting and combat with Kang and Ronan, and get to train on my own. I barely have time to do something like that. It's something you have to devote a lot of yourself to. Besides, I'd rather learn about other people and their differences all on my own. If anyone from council needs help, I can try and lend a hand."
Especially if said Council member was Matt, but Katara left that part out.
