The Rebirth of Veronica (Phase One)

[ooc: PLOT POST IS HERE! Read it!]

He stalked through the hallways like a shadow, moving too quickly for anyone to keep a bead on him for long. There almost seemed to be a purpose in his movement as he made his way through the dark corridors of the ship, though it was impossible to tell where he was headed. Perhaps the young man whose body had been hijacked was exerting some kind of control, or perhaps Veronica was doing the driving.

Whatever the case, the Tyrant made his way to the City.

He emerged from the tunnels and into the wide open space, at last free of the cramped hallway. He took a few steps into the streets and sniffed the air, smelling human blood. He roared, a horrible and twisted noise, then headed into the streets.

She demanded they all bow to her. They were little more than prey for the Queen in the grand scale of things. These thoughts rang hollow in a primal mind, though, but he knew what he had to do.

They would all die.

Maybe this had been a bad idea after all, Nanoha couldn't help but think as she felt the monster's claws seize her. And then she hit the ground, her arm bending beneath her - and she felt something give in an agonizing snap. Nanoha was pretty sure she'd screamed, but it was hard to tell with her ears ringing and the darkness nibbling in at her vision.

As the world faded around her, Nanoha mustered all her remaining strength to summon one final orb of light between her and the Tyrant, hoping to be able to detonate it to separate the two of them.

But then things went dark, and she didn't know if she'd ever actually detonated it or not.

As Steve left, Peter dropped down to the ground near Nanoha.

"I'm about to say the obvious, but she doesn't look so good," he said, running over to check her pulse.

He's hanging on, at least with his arms anyway. When Spidey drops, the oddity's ears give a flick. A slower flick-twitch than usual and it takes him a minute to form a response. He'll have to take the Human's word for it.

"Eee. Wha-t do?"

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"She's got a pulse. Slow but somewhat steady," He answered, sighing in relief, before getting back to business.

"I can get her to Medbay, but we're gonna need to splint her arm first. See if you can find a good, long piece of wood. There's enough rubble around here that it shouldn't be too hard."

"Rrr-enne trrry."

He's keeping his teeth clenched by now. Even he has his pain threshold and while that's insanely high, the limits are close to reached. Managing not to yelp as he drops to the ground and a leg gives way, the stubborn little thing turns..
...to stop mid-limping craw.

"Rrrr-enne be -- " Breathe. "Heal-errrr too.."

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Peter facepalmed, not at Renne but at his own stupidity for not noticing how badly Renne was hurt.

"Okay, I'll find the wood. You stick here and don't try healing her. You're too badly hurt yourself. Comprende?"

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Eee, Rrr-enne hell-p." Blink. "Come-wha-t?"

Oh, lovely. Getting confused as the pain starts to hit. Nice bloody move. Breathing as steadily as he can here, Renne actually starts crawl-dragging again with his left foot flop-dragging behind him. Oh yes, he's stubborn to the point of stupid, especially when it comes to trying to hide his own pain.

Really, his logic can be weird sometimes but there is indeed, another life-form in need of help and he'd be damned if he'd lie down on that job.

Peter glared him down. "No. You stay here or I swear to both my God and whatever you worship I will MAKE you stay here. I'm packing an adhesive that's stronger than steel and have more than enough of it to back that up."

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
He misses the stare itself but if there's any emotional backing behind that, you can bet he feels that. Skin flashing a little, he gives a half-trill.

"Is yeu hurrr-ted? Ad-hee wha-t? Is noh mah-gic, is?"

My my, that's a drop of fear at even the thought of magic. Breathe. Breathe.

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing broken. Just bruised. Which is a heck of a lot better state than you're in." he replied.

"And it's science. Just very, very good glue. Now stop arguing with me and let me find the wood because I don't wanna stick around here any longer than we have to while she's," Peter pointed at Nanoha, "out cold like that,"

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
'Out cold' is never a good thing to say around him. He's been on both ends of 'out cold' and neither end is any pretty. His next question only comes out half-said for if there's one word in this Multiverse he refuses to say, it's "dead" or "dying".

"Eee. She noh be..."

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Peter could be remarkably patient when he wanted to be, but not when someone was injured. "She's just unconscious, alright?!" he grumbled, yanking a piece of wood out of one the walls and snapping it in two. He set Nanoha's arm, wrapping webbing around the wood to keep it that way, and strapped her to his back with even more, making sure she was well supported.

To his front, he added something that looked remarkably like a Renne-sized baby carrier. "You're getting in here." he said, his voice brooking no argument.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Despite logically knowing there's no real vehemence or malice behind the sharp tone, the emotion-creature can't help but flinch back a little. His skin gives a few flashes of an amber-yellowish in that moment of instinct but one thing at least calms one nerve of his.

Out cold in this case doesn't mean "shaking the hand of death", which is good. Alas, again, he misses all things sight-related.

"In whe-rrre?"

[identity profile] livingontheweb.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Peter picked Renne up and slowly slid him into the carrier.

"In there." He said, before he climbed his way up the roof, and made his way towards medbay, running and leaping from building to building.
