Halloween Party

Who knows why the ship was doing this. Maybe it was some kind of social experiment. Maybe Stacy was feeling festive and somewhere, out there, it was Halloween. Maybe the players just wanted to have Halloween fun. No one would ever know, would they.

In any case, what better place for a Halloween dance than a graveyard? In an area in the center, clear of headstones, there was a dance floor, and there were seats and tables with skeletal frames. Somehow grisly carved torches and jack-o-lanterns of varying sizes and shapes, cast enough eerie light to light up the place, despite the fact it was night. There were places to bob for apples, popcorn balls on strings strung up for people to try to eat for games involving that. The food tables will full of Halloweeny snacks and candy.

Far off, there was a haunted house, decrepit and foreboding. It seemed people could look into it if they dared sent down the dark trail to where it was. [ooc: Haunted house post link forthcoming].

Creepy--but danceable music was playing, from nowhere.

Perhaps most notable was the fact that the moment someone entered the Sensorium, they would find themselves in a costume. Sometimes these costumes would be what the character themselves would choose, but sometimes they'd be dressed as something strange, embarrassing, or just something they wouldn't even recognize. Leaving and coming back wouldn't fix the problem, in most cases. The costumes wouldn't change, and if they did, it wasn't guaranteed that they'd change to something better.

Whatever the case, party hard, Meatship. Somebody's got to teach the Vikings, draconians, aliens, and other sundry people to Thriller dance.

Dean studied her a moment longer, something pinging. He was an old con himself, and thinking she wasn't completely on the up and up here. But with that background, not that surprising. Nothing he was gonna call her on though.

"Yeah there are, but they're keeping their noses clean. As long as they're not the human killing kind around here." Indicating the second that changed, he'd be exorcising their asses.

Another critical look at that, "And bet your old man taught you some moves huh? Ours was a Marine vet, showed us some stuff too."

"I'll try to watch myself around them," Mindy said warily, although she was going to make sure that she kept a close eye on these demons. Having met the Overlord though, she had to believe that not all of these demons were bad, especially when they were helping to take down the Ohm.

She shook her head. "Thought mom would have disapproved, wherever she was. My dad got VERY protective over what happened to me after that. It was a little annoying, to be honest. That's why I'm a little at a disadvantage here. His training would really be helpful right now."

"You do that. Salt and iron are your friends. Least that works for any from my world. Don't know how universal it'd be here."

He tilted his head to the side, "Yeah? What about now? Checked out any of the training on board yet?"

That sounded weird...to a little girl's ears. Not to Mindy's. She just made herself look perplexed at the comment, then nodded, as if accepting it as something a man like Dean would have said.

She nodded. "Well, heard of them anyway. An Overlord gives some, and there's this dragon that said he would start some up. You have any recommendations?"

"If you mean Kang, yeah he's good. He knows his stuff. But he's not 21st century style. Tell you what, I've lent a hand with training when I can. Can look me up. Anything you want to focus on?"

Mindy had to hide the smile: this was good, and though she figured he might figure things out eventually, the idea of getting more training was not one she could turn down.

"Long ranged weapons might be good," she said. "It's what I've heard might be important, anyway."

"Nice, thought you were gonna ask hand to hand which I know too. Kind of young for some of the weapons though. Least with the recoil action. Can start with some basics at least."

"I think...I might go somewhere else for hand to hand," she said, thinking specifically of Kang's. He might have a few things she needed to go over, and anyway, she had to give the appearance of not knowing this kind of stuff. For now, her and Hitgirl had to be completely different people.

"Um, sure. Don't be afraid to mix it up?"

"Not a problem, and sure, I'll give you some pointers. Some stuff my old man taught me about your age." Very basic, basic things.

Pointers. Well. If she actually went through with this, it was likely she was going to have to let him know what she could do...when she saw him next. "I'll look forward to it."
