Halloween Party

Who knows why the ship was doing this. Maybe it was some kind of social experiment. Maybe Stacy was feeling festive and somewhere, out there, it was Halloween. ~~Maybe the players just wanted to have Halloween fun.~~ No one would ever know, would they.

In any case, what better place for a Halloween dance than a graveyard? In an area in the center, clear of headstones, there was a dance floor, and there were seats and tables with skeletal frames. Somehow grisly carved torches and jack-o-lanterns of varying sizes and shapes, cast enough eerie light to light up the place, despite the fact it was night. There were places to bob for apples, popcorn balls on strings strung up for people to try to eat for games involving that. The food tables will full of Halloweeny snacks and candy.

Far off, there was a haunted house, decrepit and foreboding. It seemed people could look into it if they dared sent down the dark trail to where it was. [ooc: Haunted house post link forthcoming].

Creepy--but danceable music was playing, from nowhere.

Perhaps most notable was the fact that the moment someone entered the Sensorium, they would find themselves in a costume. Sometimes these costumes would be what the character themselves would choose, but sometimes they'd be dressed as something strange, embarrassing, or just something they wouldn't even recognize. Leaving and coming back wouldn't fix the problem, in most cases. The costumes wouldn't change, and if they did, it wasn't guaranteed that they'd change to something better.

Whatever the case, party hard, Meatship. Somebody's got to teach the Vikings, draconians, aliens, and other sundry people to Thriller dance.

Sasami let out a small gasp as she heard her call her 'princess'. Now she knew who she was! As Ryo-Ohki hopped up on Mindy's shoulder to nuzzle her, Sasami slid in right beside her, still clutching at her staff.

"I'm sorry you had to go as that..." she said. "Wanna change, or...?"

She shook her head. "No. I hate it, but its probably a good idea I stay in this thing. The less likely I look like my alter ego, the better. As far as anyone else knows, I'm just that scared little girl that pod popped recently. For the, ugh, good of the mission and all that."

She couldn't help but nuzzle the cabbit back. Hey, she was "normal girl," right? Not going to ruin her rep so long as she was Mindy.

"You going to go to that haunted house thing?"

"Hee... probably...!" Sasami said, a tighter clutch on her staff. Her mouth opened hesitantly, wondering if she should ask, before going ahead and doing so. "Wanna come with me?"

Why not? It sounded like fun, and its not like it meant they were friends or anything, she WAS still in Mindy guise. Still, Sasami wasn't so bad. There were worse people she could be stuck with, and the girl DID know who she was under the mask.

"Sure, I guess," she said, trying to sound nonchalant about it.

Sasami giggled as Mindy agreed with her. "Thank you...!" she said, smiling brightly. Part of her wondered why she decided to agree to it, though. Part of her, though, wanted to believe she wanted to be with her...

"Relax," Mindy said, as if reading her mind. "If I have to be stuck like this, I guess i can play nice and act like a little girl for a day. I promise, no swearing or insults, all right, as long as you don't go all 'ranty do-gooder' on me, ok?"

Not that she could go around swearing or insulting anyway. She'd draw to much attention her herself.

"Okay, I won't rant." Sasami said, nodding. A few moments later, she looked away, blushing a bit. "I'm sorry I argued with you. I guess... I got a bit carried away those times..."

Mindy had to snicker a little at this. "You're too lenient if you're the one apologizing. I mean sure, I thought you were wrong, but let's be honest, I'm kind of a bitch. It comes with the costume: you talk different, you act different, you don't compromise. Here, like this, you can do whatever you want. It's one of those good things about being a kid."

"That's true... but, I was the one who started it all by my reactions." Sasami admitted. "But... I have to admit, I admire how you act. Maybe one day I could have that kind of bravery..."

Bravery may not be the right word, but she knew what she meant.

She shrugged. "No point staying angry about that stuff on this ship. To be honest, I don't really imagine myself making a lot of friends. It's the asset you have, being a kid. You cam just be you."

"Yeah..." Sasami said, nodding, before smiling "Though... admit it. I'm one of those friends, aren't I? I may argue with you and all, but..."

Mindy was quiet a moment. "If you weren't, I would never have shown you what was under the mask. I don't want anyone else to know."

She didn't add that if she thought it was a problem likely she would have killed Sasami. That would have been just BAD.

Sasami nodded at that. Then, it occurred to her...

"Why did you show me, though? You could have said no and that would have been it." Sasami said. "Did you really trust me? Especially after what I did?"

Mindy shrugged. "You were annoying, with all your talk of team work and kids and stuff, but you know, part of me still needs to have a conscience. Part of me thought that if anyone could know who I was, it was you. Think of us: the kid who's an envoy for the other ones since you're an assistant to that Petrelli guy, and me, the kid most not like a kid. Figured we might balance each other out."

Or kill each other. Whichever came first.

Sasami blinked at Mindy's reasoning before looking away, blushing as she did.

"O-Oh... I see. I guess that makes sense." she said. Was she that annoying?

She noticed the blushing and snickered. "Hey, easy princess. I think I mighht like you more when you get mad at me. Look, you don't have to put so much stock in what other people say. It might be why you feel so powerless alll the time."

"...Maybe you're right about that." Sasami said, thinking it over. "Maybe I've just been so focused on listening to what others have been saying, I've just... let it bother me."

She looked back over at Mindy, smirking. "And I'm not going to get angry at you all the time! Just when you're stubborn!"

"Now you're getting the hang of it," Mindy said. "Besides, you work for someone on the council, right? You're in a pretty good position or whatever. Gather intel, open your ears. You might find out something no one else knows on the ship."

At the last comment, Mindy gave Sasami an appraising look. "Then it won;t be the last time we'll argue, will it?"

Sasami took Mindy's suggestion to heart, but when she told her that it wouldn't be the last time they'd argue, she gave her something of an annoyed smirk before bopping her lightly on the head with her staff.

"Next time, I'll just start hugging you!" Sasami teased.

Mindy raised an eyebrow. "You're taking you're life in your own hands then, princess," she warned. She'd never been one for hugs, but hey. That was just how she was. Anyway, Sasami wasn't going to start going off at the mouth about who she was, so she could at least permit it.

"Fine, but you better not weasel out of the haunted house because you're scared, or you get no respect from me."

"I'm not, don't worry!" Sasami said, crossing her arms. She smirked as she added. "Why? You gonna start running without me?"

Mindy chortled. "Yeah, that's happening. New Yorkers aren't scared of anything!"

She paused. "Except for roaches. And water bugs. They get pretty big."

"You may never know, they might have them there~!" Sasami said, teasing Mindy. She couldn't help it, it seemed so easy.

"If they do then they'll at least be doing their job right," Mindy answered. "I expect a decent haunted house."
