In Which Zetta Trains

Some people had said he ought to train.

Some people seemed to need training.

Some people he wanted to teach.

And the Overlord felt like being productive.

So he'd grabbed a sensorium, shut the safeties off, set up shop, and sent out a call. And divided the sensorium into three distinct parts...

When Alessa appeared before him, bringing her demon familiars to with her, Shiki was prepared to receive her. It was not so much the malice which alerted him to his danger but rather instinct, like that of an animal being hunted. However, he was the hunter, and his blade was ready to strike at everything before him. Fighting Alessa was like fighting Nvrnqsr Chaos, he just needed to cut her familiars as he approached the main body. Her points of death were in plain view, and stabbing one would cause her existence to unravel.

Alessa's well being was at stake now, or at least it was very possible. Whoever this boy was, he was trying to wipe her from existence from this place, and she wouldn't allow this to happen. Just because he had his own senses alerting him to danger, didn't mean she didn't have some of her own.

Which was why, if he was going to get even near her, she'd have a barrier set up, not to mention much stronger minions, and whatever Zetta would throw at him.

When Shiki saw the barrier come up, you could see a small smirk appear on his face.

"If it exists I can kill it."

With that he effortlessly cut through the barrier surrounding Alessa, but was forced to retreat when her minions attacked him.

So Mr. quiet finally said something. It took him long enough.

"So then you're an assassin then. Good for you. You won't be permitted to kill me of course, not that I would understand your motivation for doing so."

How would she? They only just met anyway, which was why another barrier came up, stronger than the last.

It was not a matter of permission, but more along the lines of instinct. Shiki's bloodline was that of demon hunters, and it causes him to instinctively attempt to kill anything he perceives as a threat. Couple that with his Mystic Eyes which allow him to see and interact with the conceptual death of something, and you have a natural killer. When confronted with the second barrier, the Nanaya part of Shiki, that which is defined by his bloodline and instincts, smirked and killed it as easily as he had done the first one.

With that, Alessa disappeared. Se didn;t want to admit that her ego had taken a pretty severe hit here: she didn't LOSE, not esaily, especially to soe rag tag humans he knew nothing about who was able to magically undo demonic barriers. Something was seriously amiss.

Which was why her disappeared and she appeared herself, looking far from happy.

"YOU," she practically snarled. "What are you?"

"Just your average high school student."

Unless the demon no longer seemed to be a threat, or a greater one did not present itself, Shiki would continue to follow the instincts programmed into his bloodline.

"Bull shit," Alessa said. "A normal high school student would be torn to shreds. You can at least have the courage to reveal what you are."

"As I said, I am 'just your average high school student.' 100% human."

Nanaya cockily smirked as he prepared for his next attack. As Nanaya, Shiki was able to ignore the pain in his head for overusing his Mystic Eyes. However, this continued usage may have lasting repercussions.

Alessa's anger burned. This filthy child had some nerve, acting like it was human, interrupting her training session like it could just come here and do this. But if he really wanted to do this...

Alessa closed her eyes as the room swam in horrors: Alessa was far from being over, and she certainly wasn't going to let this human smile at her like that. The room started to shake a little, and Alessa looked up.

"This human thinks he's beyond demon capability," Alessa said to overlord Zetta. "Assist me in showing him different."

With that Shiki charged yet again, slashing and dodging the horrors which blocked his path. Every once in a while, he would be hit, but seemingly shrug off the attack. Nothing was going to stop him from killing his target.

[Note: By this point, Shiki is fatally injured yet continuing to push himself (he loses all control when faced with what he perceives is a threat). Hope either of you can come up with a way to stop him before either he or either of you die.]

The demon was right-perhaps she was still just irritated that she had been interrupted in such an abrupt way, especially after she had already expelled energy on some of Zetta's demons. There was no protesting any of what was going on, but she would remember this for later.

She saw that whoever he was, he was running low on his actual stamina, and would use his all to actually eliminate his target. Despite his irritating nature, Alessa could admire that. She would make sure she gave her all too, if it came down to it, and slashed and dodged herself.

She refused to be defeated like this, disgraced and crushed. NEVER.

Looking at the wall Zetta created had down the trick. With each layer being a different material, each layer had a unique concept of death. Seeing all of them caused Shiki's brain to shutdown or risk frying itself from the overabundance of information it was not supposed to comprehend. Collapsing to the floor, Shiki was sprawled out unconcious and bleeding out from the wounds all over his body.

That was fine: she had enough anyway. This was unexpected, but it had certainly satisfied her as she had wanted. This battle had been her equal, for the moment, and now she had material for the Sensorium. She would find a way to shrug off this moment, and now she had a goal.

She definitely felt the sting in her body, and she smiled.

"That was fine."

While Shiki's wounds closed, the after affects of using his Mystic Eyes continued to leave him sprawled on the floor of the Sensorium. At this rate it would be about 2 hours before he would be able to wake up again, suffering from seeing the death of beings well beyond what his mind should be able to comprehend.

"I'll take him out," Alessa said. "He gave me a good fight. It would be wrong to leave him here in this condition."

Besides, if she wanted to beat him, he would need to be alive for their next encounter.

"I'll be seeing you again, Overlord," Alessa said.
