Last Straw
She went straight to the Sensoriums. Her feelings were all over the place, and she had to get away from people right now. She remembered all too well what happened to Alex when he lost Luna: she knew she had to find a way to take her aggression out. There was pain and self loathing and unspeakable things she was sorting through, but right now it was nothing but anger she was feeding on. She closed her eyes when she entered, concentrating on the enemies she;s fought while she'd been on the ship.
The Terminators. The T-Rex. The Nightmare King's monster minions. The traps Hal had laid for them. They came one at a time but Katara was ready, steeling herself to calmly maneuver out of the traps, to find a way to take down the terminator most efficiently, and those alone took more than a few hours. It was when she got to the nightmare King's minions, however, that Katara stopped being cautious. Now she ripped into them, stabbing at them with ice shards and freezing them on the spot before blowing through them, and slowly her determined face gave away to that of rage. As she started to remember their fights, their hugs, their talks, she switched to the Bene Gesserit fighting style, her hits were starting to get more serious, leaving many injured in her wake, though she received a few cuts herself. When she was done an hour later, it faded, all of it, and she was left in water, where she had heard Sokka once talk to Toph about how she'd been like a mother to her, and she couldn't stand it anymore. She let out a scream, primal and pained.
"WHY?! WHY BRING HIM HERE JUST TO TAKE HIM AWAY?! ALL THIS TIME, JUST TO TAKE HIM AND NOT HAVE AANG HERE AND MAKE ZUKO FORGET WHAT WE ALL DID?? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?"
And she dissolved into tears here, the sun sinking into the clouds and leaving a dark, lonely pond.

And she would find a way to make sure they remembered them, she would make sure of that.
"What do you think, being on the ship and seeing all you have so far?"
no subject
"You know, it's probably sounding weird, but I trained people in the world I come from that were younger than most in the Outsiders I saw. Caro and Erio still did well when they had to fight. It's silly to not let people help if they are able to and understand what they're getting into."
Of course, she had still been quite protective of them, but that was a completely different matter she wouldn't admit openly, anyway.
"If just half is true about what is said about the Ohm, people'd be nuts not to! The Ohm won't care if whoever they attack is under some arbitrary age limit, I think."
But well, Vita was from a world that focussed more on talent and less on age, anyway.

She remembered the Ohm all too well. She still had nightmares, and knowing that they were out there, waiting for their next attack, she knew the Outsiders had to reform again. It was hardly even a choice.
"But if you have any advice for our group I'd appreciate it. I give Beastboy credit for being in an actual superhero group: the gang I was with were either strong benders or brilliant at thinking our way out of a situation."
no subject
...more a (anti-)villain group, for a while...
"but did work quite a bit for the military later on. They thanked me for the training I did for their people, too..."
Suddenly her face darkened, not in a depressed way, more showing annoyance. "Even though they called me the small, red one. At least they didn't do that to my face, stupid jerks."
But that mumbling went over quickly. "I think overall, we mostly relied on people thinking their way out of situations too. Works best, really, if people are clever enough. Nanoha was great at that as a kid, too, and the people in section six that we trained all learned that, too!"
Course, listening had also been important (especially if the command had been a yell of "Defend!" while a certain small knight was incoming with her hammer)...

Here she suppressed a smirk. Vita WAS small, she just knew enough not to go making fun of her there.
"That doesn't surprise me," she said brightly. "I always thought Nanoha was a shoe in at her job,m and I can honestly say she;s one of the people on the ship I completely trust. For smarts though, the smartest guy I know is Billy Cranston. He's an engineer on the ship, and really like a brother to me."
no subject
Well, not many people are centuries old, after all. She didn't quite spot the smirk, luckily.
"I haven't met this Billy yet, I admit, but if he's anything like the engineers of my world, I'll take your word for it. They were pretty clever, even managed to repair Eisen quickly when he needed it after him and I were almost shattered!"
no subject
And despite all of the balls and things, she still felt like she should be preparing for something.
"He's definitely useful, and starting to learn to to become stronger himself: he wants to go above and beyond to help his friends. I just hope he can gain faith in what he can do, same as the rest of us. I'm still trying to improve my fighting skills."
no subject
Vita still wasn't really sure how the whole ohm battle was going to play out, but she was going to do her best, that was for sure.
"Well, I can't help with the engineering part, but I really get the training part. We all should. Even Nanoha's probably training again..."
You couldn't really stop Nanoha from training herself, after all.
no subject
She nodded. "In all the time I've been on the ship, the lesson I learned best was training can definitely help. It isn't enough to just have the skills you learned in one place, but to apply it to the new things you discover to make you stronger."
Which is why she wasn't surprised to hear that about Nanoha.
no subject
Not that she actually had seen these 'Ohm'.
Come to think of it... "Say, that Billy, was he the one with the mouse?"
no subject
Katara wrinkled her nose. "Mouse? I don't know what that-oh wait. Was this 'mouse' blue?'
Her mun forgot what color it had o.o;
Why? Well, she'd show them why that would be a silly argument.
Vita blinked. "Uhm...could be. He was also stammering a bit, so I wondered if you meant him - he was at the outsider meeting"
Re: Her mun forgot what color it had o.o;
Katara snickered. "Yes, I think I know who you mean. It's Renne...and he's actually pretty special. Not a mouse."
no subject
The other thing took some more thought "Er, really? The...not-mouse... doesn't happen to actually be a shapeshifting mage?"
Curious question. She herself noticed it came across as odd. "Just asking, I know one like that, turns into a ferret. That'd explain the special-ness..."
no subject
Katara snickered. "Um, I think its possible for him to shapeshift, but Renne is just...Renne, really. But who do you know that can turn into a ferret?"
And for that matter, what the heck was a ferret?
