Mission 01 -- Recovery : Planetside: Split up and Fan Out

The door opens to a lush green place. They've landed in a forest glade of some kind. Deciduous in nature, but the leaves are somewhat odd in shape and very, very thick and tall. The grass is a green that's almost a blue.

The sky is blue like a normal sky, but brighter, more vibrant than on Earth. Two moons hang there, so close that they're visible even in the daytime.

The air is fresh and clean-smelling, like after a rain--in fact, the moisture in the air means it may have rained here recently. There's even a cool, light breeze.

Curiously, when they come down the ramp, they'll see that the pod--its umbilical cord spiraling up miles upon miles to meet the ship, floating visibly in the atmosphere--is floating about six inches off the ground.

Soundwave faced Tobias before replying.

Soundwave faced Tobias before replying. <You can scan for aerial with Laserbeak.> And almost immediately, the mechanical condor rose up with him.

<And... he's not just any robotic bird.> Soundwave hinted.

< What is he exactly? > he asked as he demorphed for the moment. He'd have to morph back after he finished the scan. He followed Laserbeak up.

< He transforms into my weapon. An electric guitar. > He watched them for a while, revving his engines a little. Laserbeak squawked before hovering around Tobias, inspecting him curiously.

Kate was listening, and keeping a lookout.

"Hope she can come out of soon, how's she doing?" Thought she heard some rustling, but it could be just the wind.

"--it, you dumbass."

Staggering again.

"Oh. Hey. Damn. That was a long one."

Dick had hopped down from the ship easily enough, grabbing a scanner on his way out. Anything that could help. He'd joined in the scanning until Leela became everybody's focus of attention.

He moved up beside her when she came out, though he didn't touch. He'd spent enough time around Omen and Raven to know better. "You okay there?" he asked.

[identity profile] daaayum.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Just the usual brain-fry," she says, and she looks to their fearless leaders.

"Cap'n, uh, there's gotta be a few very subtle...tweaks to the teams you send out or bad shit's gonna go down."

[identity profile] clear-horizons.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Picard knew by now to trust a woman's intuition, especially when said intuition was backed by some kind of mental power. Thanks for that, Deanna. "What do you mean?" he asked Leela, folding up his own tricorder and turning to look at her. "What kind of tweaks, and why?"

[identity profile] daaayum.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's...vague. Alls I know is every team needs a medic. That's common sense, but I'm telling you that's it for sure. Nightwing, Robin, and Batman Lite need to be on the same team together. Cybil has to be on the same team as the ninja-doctor. Spock needs to be on the team that goes for this ship."

She points it out on the scanners Stacy provided.

"Elle has to be on the team that goes for this one."

She points out another ship.

"And Worf needs to lead the team that goes for this ship, and Leon needs to be on that team."

She points out one more.

"And much as I would rather not be," is snarled off to the side. She turns back, and rolls her eyes slightly. "I gotta be on the same team as Cale."

A shrug. "None of the rest matters. Whatever you choose. Those matter the most. That's just how it is. It's vague, but...that just seems right."

[identity profile] outweightheone.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Spock eyes the ship that she claims he should pitch for. It was of little consequence where he was directed, at least, with regards to what they already knew.

"If the Captain concurs?" he looks to Picard for a sign of confirmation, "Though could you decipher exactly why these people are required at those objectives? Perhaps it pertains to whatever is inside the escape craft?"

Though Stacy had claimed there were no life-signs... He goes back to his tricorder, scanning a wider berth of the planet.

[identity profile] cowsquirtdrinkr.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'd suggest doing as she says. When someone eyes go all white like that as a result of a vision when eyes don't naturally do that it's generally a good sign to pay attention."

[identity profile] outweightheone.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"And caution also." Spock adds automatically.

Paco politely raised his hand.

"Can I go with Chief?"

[identity profile] gangstageek.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Dark Smoke Puncher managed to keep hidden despite the rough entrance and not so rough landing. After all, he was trained to hide anywhere. Even if it was rocketing through the atmosphere and felt like it was gonna shake apart.

One of the scanners vanished and there was a subtle shake of a bush near the group, but nothing too note worthy. Low key was low key and he could still listen to them from here.

Certain people with certain teams. THAT sounded bad. Now, the question was, should he back up his brother or go with another team where something bad was probably gonna happen?

[identity profile] wantstobebatman.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Doc caught the rustle and swish of Sean edging around the group and keeping himself low but kept his brother's whereabouts to himself. He was much more concerned with Leela's team layout. He'd have to inquire about the nature of her apparent vision later - stuff like that was kind of fascinating to him - but for the moment there didn't seem to be any reason not to trust her instincts on the situation.

Even with her team 'restrictions' in place slotting people into the teams and making up a solid roster for each group shouldn't present any particular problems. He really didn't like the stress Leela put on the NEED for a medic in every group though. Common sense was common sense but 'it's for sure' usually meant 'you're going to have to put stitches in someone'.

"Sounds like a party, but with injuries." He sighed, and began double-checking the roster of supplies Bones had handed him amid piling off the ship. Best to memorize where everything was in the kit so he could get to it blindfolded if he had to.

Kate glanced toward Paco and Tony. Debating. Hmmm... maybe separate teams possibly.

"Wherever you need me."

[identity profile] crazychanger.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Blitzwing transforms, lands and promptly shrugs.
"I'll go vherever you vant me to. I am not zat fussed."

[identity profile] playsin-traffic.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Tony sniffs at the air again, "Put me where you need me, but I can probably be a decent scout..."

[identity profile] asluciferfell.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Javert stood at the back of the group, looking grim. "I will go where I am requested, of course." A set goal, with orders and a purpose, was promising.

[identity profile] godimgood.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
"If I've a choice in the matter, m'lords," Geoff said whilst looking around nervously from behind the dubious protection of Javert, "I would like to go with someone I've talked to. The Inspecteur or Dean."

Pause.

"Or Sir Chief."

Yes, Sir Chief.

[identity profile] acid-dissonance.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
The Scion xB turned and transformed, watching the crowd and slowly approaching it. He didn't look dubious enough to know what they're talking about, and merely shifted in his pedes and voiced out. "I can go with whomsoever requires my assistance." Needless to say, he didn't mind picking with who to go with, but merely understands the need for this mission to succeed.

[identity profile] re-hymenated.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Now that Dean's recovered from the vaguely traumatizing events from before, he's standing off to the side, looking ruffled. He looks up when Geoff mentions him, and grins a bit.

"I don't care where I am, but I can babysit Chaucer if you guys want," Dean speaks up, turning his grin on Chaucer to let him know he's just kidding around.

"Okay. Let's start with basics." Dick rubs the back of his neck. "Every team needs a leader and a medic. Cybil needs to stay with Dr. McNinja, so I'd say that's one set right there." Nightwing is nothing if not good at organizing. "Worf has to lead a team to a specific ship, so that's one more, with Leon following him. Captain Picard should probably lead a third team. Robin, Batman and I need to stay together, so that gives us medical and a possible leader." That would be him, Terry. "Which leaves two teams that need to be headed up and four teams that need a medic."

He pauses, thinking it over for a moment. "Okay. It might be best if people who need to stick together go stand by each other. And if people who need to go to specific ships could go and stand in the approximate direction of the ship they need to go to?"

[identity profile] outweightheone.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Doctor McCoy and I are accustomed to working in the field with one another. I would recommend he be assigned to retrieve the same vessel as me," Spock pipes up once more, "It is, of course, at our commanding officer's discretion."

His eyes flash to Picard, with a look betraying perhaps just a hint of amusment.

"I'm used to leading a squad into enemy territory. Compared to what I've been trained for I doubt this will be as difficult." Really. Unless the things here have plasma weapons, the Chief can honestly say he's not too worried. The only thing he's a little anxious about is that everyone else is a non-Spartan, and most of them aren't even military.

"If we knew what the conditions were like in this area, I'd ask to be put in the most dangerous. I can fight very well and I'm extremely difficult to kill, sir. That is no exaggeration. I'd rather it be me than risk somebody else."

He looks at Paco, shown only by the angle of his head. "If the captain says," he tells him.
