Mission 01: Recovery [Briefing]
The Meeting is interrupted.
There is a resounding mental alarum that sounds through the ship. Nearly "deafening." Lights flash from places for extra emphasis, making it impossible to ignore.
||Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention. All personnel please report to the Observation Deck. Attention, Attention, all personnel...||
They can hear it through the meeting bubble and Jaime drops it.
It's entirely likely that she won't stop repeating the announcement until, well, everyone reports to Obs Deck. The mouth in the huge statue opens, revealing a screen. On it, the dossier for the mission flickers into display, understandable to every person there. Smaller copies of the dossier appear in holographic form in front of everyone.
The planet's stats, right next to a rotating picture of it, marled blue and green, are as follows:
Planet Designation: Earth-534A342Z
Status: Terrestrial, H-class.
Non-sentient life: Extensive flora and fauna.
Semi-Sentient Life: Yes.
Sentient Life: No.
Water: 82% of the planet's surface.
Climate: Similar to Earth's Mediterranean climates/desert climates in some areas. [Click here for cultural equivalents for non-Earth cultures.]
Landscape: Varied. Lightning storms plague the plains and mountain plateaus. Tectonic upheaveal.
Air: Normoxic concentration: 28% oxygen, 62% nitrogen, 5% xenon, 5% trace gases, such as hydrogen, krypton, and argon.
Air Pressure: 14.543 pounds per square inch.
Sky: Blue with orangeish-gold clouds (clouds ride rather low in the sky due to gravity being stronger and therefore reflect the colors on the surfaces of the plateaus.
Sun: A class M5V, a red dwarf star.
Warnings: Wildlife and plant-life can be hazardous.
Mission: Track escape pod vessels with the scanners provided. Manually activate recovery processes. Return to Main Planet Pod.
--
Following that, there is a table displaying the escape pods--they looked like little bugs or maybe giant beans. Something between plant and insect.

Apparently Stacy wants their attention.
||It is critical that you pay attention at this time.||

Re: End Briefing - Separation and Deployment
A pause.
"Is he as much of a girl as Cale?"
Re: End Briefing - Separation and Deployment
He then glanced over at Chaucer before turning his attention back to Leela and giving her an accusing look. "I don't know, maybe your new boyfriend scared him. Happy?"
He paused.
"And I'm not a girl," he added, mumbling.
Re: End Briefing - Separation and Deployment
"I am married, thank you." He pauses, then shakes his head. "And speak up. If you have something to say, say it. Do not mumble under your breath." Yeah, Worf is kind of a grumpy jerk sometimes.

"And Cale? As some would put it? Act your age, not your shoe size."

Snapping back from the awe of a new world to the present, the now (temporarily) restored Blue Ranger offers a sympathetic glance to Chaucer. "Affirmative. Our entire situation has been quite a paradigm-shattering experience for all of us, but especially for those who come from times and places where space travel was never even possible. In my time, it wasn't all that long ago that people believed that the Earth was flat."

Leon was still in a rather quiet state of awe about this. It was helping him to talk about something else.
"If there's animal life down there, then there's bound to be fresh water and vegetation. While we're there, we should gather up some fresh fruit, and some fresh meat. It would do everyone some good to have some real food in them for a change."
Not that he had been there long, but one taste of that slop in the mess hall was already one too many.

Billy then lapses into silence and, mind reeling with the possibilities that await them on the planet coming into view. This, he thinks, is worth the trip. He silently agrees with Nightwing about the reaffirming of their purpose.

She craned her neck, in a giddy, apprehensive mood, like a kid about to finally enter Disneyland. "I wonder what lives there. I bet there'll be giant dragonflies or something crazy like that. Or... Dinosaurs." She giggled, then quickly took it back. "I'm not serious, it just looks kind of like the island in Jurassic Park. But wouldn't that be so cool?"
Getting dizzy from all the excitement, Elle wondered what happens when you electrocute a dinosaur.

The Chief. Has. His armor. Back.
It was really strange being dressed by Stacy, but the familiar weight of the MJOLNIR suit on his body is easily THE most reassuring thing that he's experienced this entire time. He notices that for now it is not online. When it is, it'll take him a moment or two to readjust to the thought-to-motion threshold again. He's looking forward to it.
The Spartan returns to the group, unrecognizable. Seven feet of green-and-black metal scarred from recent battles, rendered faceless by a mirrored orange-gold faceplate. The Chief stands straight with shoulders squared, he's only gained two inches in height but he seems even bigger somehow. Perhaps it's the sudden rush of confidence.
He salutes the room at large, but mostly the Captain.
"This is SPARTAN-One-One-Seven, reporting for duty."
