Kneel before your god

Shiva spoke through the comms (not the omnicomms) directly into the minds of the crew.

«I am Shiva. I am the destroyer of all that you know and the creator of a grand new empire. For months you thought of me as my host, Charles Kawalsky, but now you shall see me in all my glory. I have positioned bombs throughout this vessel, including the pod caverns. I need but press the trigger and they will explode. I also have one hostage of my own, Sheryl. You will not be able to stop me. I am fully equipped with a power dampener, and a forcefield. I am untouchable. You have one hour to surrender yourselves to me and begin your new lives as my slaves.»

His eyes flashed gold and he held his hostage firmly. He did not wish to wait, but if he tired of this he would amend his demands. For now he stayed in one of the areas in the City hidden from Stacy’s view, in the middle of a pile of rubble, with not a landmark in sight.

Still, he knew they would come.

"And I'm sure there are people who would say the same about the thing in Sam's head," Nightwing pointed out. "Look, I'm not saying that you can't be angry. But we need your focus on keeping everybody alive. That includes Kawalsky."

Dean scowled at that, "Yeah? Was that same ones who were getting my brother's face before because of the first time this happened? Because they gotta go through me to get to him. And look, he better not have harmed Sam in any way or he's dead. For all we know Kawalsky set up a welcome mat to be worn to the prom."

"You're right, we don't know that. But we also don't know that he isn't just as unwilling a participant in all this as your brother is. So, until he can talk for himself, we have to give him the benefit of the doubt." Nightwing looked at him seriously. "Head in the now, Dean. Deal with this one bridge at a time, all right?"

Dean inhaled and exhaled a few times, centering himself. Suck it up, Winchester. Sam needed him focused and his help right now.

"Alright, yeah, yeah I'm back in the game. Don't know where they're holing up do we? Just need to get there, and I'll take care of Sam and his new 'friend.'"

He watched Dean focus and was pretty impressed, honestly. Not everybody managed that when they were already worked up.

"No, and I'm not positive that they're in the same place." He glanced down at his comm ring for a moment, then took it off and flicked it off, gesturing for Dean to do the same. No telling if Shiva could have found a way to listen in on them.

It was a mark of John Winchester's training that made him so, and helped him. Dean immediately took it off and made sure it was off.

"Probably not since they'd be a target all together. Be too easy."

Nightwing nodded. "Also, the ones he recruited aren't even on his side. As near as I can tell, he approached and recruited two others in the crew before taking the Yeerk from stasis. One of them has contacted me and has been feeding me information. We know where most of the bombs are and he's the reason I know about your brother. I've asked him to keep his head down and to keep your brother's head down as well."

"You really sure we can trust this other guy? Might just be telling us what we want to keep us distracted."

"I'd trust him with my life." And...well, Nightwing actually had, right about now. "More to the point, he's trusted me with his."

"All right fine. Any chance he can help us get to Sam?"

"Right now, they're probably going to be doing something else for Leon." He really hoped he could trust Iniss for this. Iniss, so far, had been very open about things. "Shiva still has his hostage and that's going to cause problems for anybody getting close. I'm having Iniss at least try to find out where the hostage is being held."

Dean nearly spat out a curse. They were wasting time, and he fidgeted back and forth on the balls of his feet.

"So what the hell we supposed to do now? Wait for further orders or crap?"

Nightwing would have let him. Just because he didn't curse much didn't mean others couldn't. "Right now, we're going to the precinct. Leon has people working on the bombs. We're going to need to be ready to move against Shiva. He has a power dampener, which means we need the unpowered folks ready to move."

"Just need to grab my party supplies and hat and I'm good to go."
