Back on the ship...
An army cannot function without any support! Which is exactly why what was going down on the ship was so vital to what was happening planetside. Shuttles between the two managed to bring a few of the crew back up and can be used to send supplies back down. It was a vital service in this time of crisis.

Bridge Crew
Even though he had no experience commanding a starship.
But he at least had experience being tactical command and running ops, so he wasn't completely out of his depth. All he needed was to see who was where and what they needed.
Thankfully, he had some of the best hackers around still on board who could hijack a few satellites and get him eyes on the ground. The rest was simply shouting orders to get ships and weapons ready to be launched at a moments noticed, and to get ready for them to receive wounded.
Yeah, he could do this.
Re: Bridge Crew
The suit--there was so much he could do with the suit, but deep down, even he knew that there wasn't much with those sheer numbers. Still...
Re: Bridge Crew
"Don't worry about where you should be, focus on where you are and what you can do with it."
Re: Bridge Crew
Jaime taps away at his console and then just gets frustrated and hooks directly in.
There, that's faster.
He and the scarab root through massive amounts of information, straight from Stacy's sensors, looking for...something.
Some kind of pattern, some hole in their defenses, some weakness.
"They're definitely a hivemind," he says after a moment. "This is incredibly well-coordinated." He bites his lower lip thoughtfully. "There has to be some way we can use that."

Brenda leans over Jaime's shoulder, peering at his analysis, curiosity mixing with concern on her face.

Then he gets an idea.
"Brenda, what's the worst thing in the world, the thing that annoys you the most when you're trying really hard to focus on something?"

Jaime looks to Leon.
"They have a language. It's so complex and--it's signals. It's like how the scarabs communicate. I don't think Khaji Da and I could translate it if we were given a hundred years to do it, or if we could even ever understand it," says Jaime.
"But Khaji is a very good mimic. We could possibly broadcast some of their signals back at them, distract them, confuse them, make them wonder what it means, whether we've deciphered their language. It's a distraction at best, but...it's like chattering at someone when they're trying to concentrate."

"It's worth a try, but what if we crank the stereo up and place the speakers right next to their ear?" American thinking at its finest. "Can you flood their communications with so much noise that they can't hear each other?" Be so loud, rude, and obnoxious that no one can get anything done while you're around.

Battle planning was far easier for him when he was in the field, not watching it.
"Assuming we go with more subtle distractions, targeting smaller groups of Ohm for only a few minutes at a time and and bouncing around, giving some of the ground teams a chance to take advantage, about how long until they shut you down?"

She wasn't totally confident, but she needed to at least try.
no subject
"Longer. A lot longer," says Jaime. "They might not even catch us doing it long enough to pinpoint that it's us."
He nods towards Mei Ling.
"And then it'd give the hackers time to do their stuff."

"Go for it. Reyes, target the Ohm closest to the evac routes first, then bounce around from there."
no subject
"On it."
A ping here, and a ping there, like loud blasts of static and aimless chatter. It takes a lot of concentration to do it, but it seems to be working.
Re: Bridge Crew
Once on-board, she'd gone looking for her parents, running down the halls to the Bridge until she thought her lungs would burst from exertion. Sherry nearly tripped as she blew past Jaime, caught herself, and launched herself at Leon.
If this was the way every vacation ended, she was never putting a toe out of line again.
Re: Bridge Crew
Leon had never been so happy to be interrupted in the middle of a crisis, ever. He hugged Sherry tightly, for a moment forgetting about everything still going on, and let out a breath of relief. He silently thanked... someone up there, whoever that was, for this.
"Sweetheart, are you okay?"
Re: Bridge Crew
"I was scared," she breathed. Her little heart felt like it was going to hammer itself out of her chest. She was also a little bumped and bruised from being jostled in the crowd, but she couldn't feel that under the incredible relief of being Dad-hugged. "I didn't want to be left behind."
Re: Bridge Crew
Re: Bridge Crew
"I understand." Even though that guilt-inducing little voice in the back of her mind clucked its tongue.
Re: Bridge Crew
He was about to set her down, but he knew that grip meant she probably wouldn't let go for about fifteen minutes. He looked at her, and gave a sort of sideways grin, then cocked his head to the side. "Now swing around back."
Not that he terribly cared about looking Commandy, but it was easier for him to use his hands if Sherry was piggybacking him for the time being.

The Lounge
Well, he's not in the thick of it. He'll leave that action to all the so called heroes. For now, he's in the lounge, having a drink, and keeping an eye on his data pad as data from the fight continues to roll in.
