Shore Leave Part 3: The Return Of Stacy

Down on the surface of the planet Zokez II, Stacy's erstwhile (and hopefully much more relaxed) crew began receiving messages over their comm rings and omnicoms.

||Shore Leave is now over, please return to the site for pick up. I repeat, Shore Leave is now over, please return to the site for pick up. I hope you have enjoyed your stay on Zokez II, but all good things must come to an end. Please return to the site for pick up. If you do not return, you will be left behind.||

She means it, too. Better get your butts back to the ship.

[OOC: Please thread amongst yourselves!]

Trust was something that would take Nanashi a long long time to learn, even if she had meant the statement in a half-joking manner. Still, she was glad Katara was willing to train hard.

She took Katara's hand and bowed slightly to kiss it. Looking up at Katara she said, "It will be an honour to have such an honest lady as my student. I know that you will not disappoint."

She let Katara's hand fall and straightened, smiling. "I have your present stowed away. I am saving it for your first day of training." And it was a rather nice present too. She had spent just as much buying blood off of people as she had on the katana and wakizashi. Well, since she had Rei now, the blood was not as important, even if she did not want to drink from him all the time and make him weak. She could not train Katara without a sword though. Ed could transmute his own. With any luck she would be able to find more metal and ask for a favour from Ed if she gained any more students, like Sam, who had seemed interested.

The sword itself was well-made, and Nanashi considered letting Katara see it, but binding it to the sheath until she was sure that Katara would not hurt herself with the blade. After all, Nanashi had no clue how skilled Katara was with a sword.

Katara's trust, on the other hand, could be earned: the hardest thing was when you broke that. Katara was always willing to trust someone, but very very bad at grudges when you broke that trust.

She flushed a little at Nanashi kissing her hand, as it was a gesture that no one had ever really showed her except maybe a boy at some time to be polite. "In that case, I'll do my best not to disappoint you, Nanashi," Katara replied.

She grinned and nodded. "Keep it as a surprise then. I'm sure it will be ready for me when we're on board the ship. I just hope you like your present."

Nanashi held her hand out again so the ring could catch the light, "I love it! Just look at the way it shines in the light!"

She took one arm and gently squeezed Katara, afraid to hurt the girl. "And do not worry little one, I am sure you will not disappoint. I saw you at the last public training, and you seemed to have some skill, even if the style I will be teaching you will be rather different."

Nanashi might not intend to, but it is almost inevitable that she would break Katara's trust someday. She did not even think of such a thing now, however.

Katara smiled. "That was why I chose it. I thought you might like that particular feature."

Katara could take the squeeze, and realized that Nanashi was tempering herself because she didn't want to hurt her: it was actually a very affectionate gesture. "It hasn't just been that training. Besides my waterbending and simple hand to hand, I'm also being trained in the ways of the Bene Gesserit. It's because of that my speed has gotten so very good."

Katara was unaware of Nanashi possibly breaking her trust, but even if she were, she would try to steer her away from it. Katara saw the good in her, even if some might think it was small.

"Bene Gesserit?" Nanashi tilted her head ever so slightly to one side, "Is it some kind of speed training?"

"Its only a small thing of what they teach," Katara said. "Through them I'm learning the art of prana bindu, the ability to control yourself to the very nerve. The Bene Gesserit possess many skills to extend the awareness of the human body in all of its surroundings. When it occurred to me that I would be restricted helping people without water, I figured I should try and also make it so I could still be useful."

She smiled. "I will do the best that I can."

Nanashi was not extremely interested in the art, confident that her preternatural powers already gave her these abilities. She had always been sensitive to the world. Still, it was good to know that Katara already new discipline. One less thing to teach. "I would expect no less."

She gave her new teacher a bow. "I wouldn't have gotten this far without discipline and hard work. I would expect that with any teacher."

This would be interesting, to see how Nanashi trained as a teacher.
