Snap, Crackle, and POP

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: Post your character with one post establishing them as being podpopped. Tag each other in groups of 2's, 3's, and 4's, to get some interaction to start with. If a thread doesn't already have 2 or 3 people tagged in, tag it with your character's podpop popping near the other people, rather than making a new subthread. If you would like to play out them talking to the AI, please send an email to the mods making the request--we do this only by request. Then move onto the big Newbie Meeting. Once your character has gotten the rundown from the old crew, you may start posting entrance posts and freely tagging.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

When you call out, ask where you are, a voice speaks to you, in your head. She tells you:

||You are here.||

When you ask who she is, she tells you that her name is STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT, but that you may call her Stacy. When she tells you who she is, there is a gush of emotion, love, maternal warmth. You are on a ship. She is that ship. Her name is Stacy and she loves you. Her voice is warm and motherly, even if these messages sound almost automated.

Glowing phosphorescenet lights appear in pustules along the floor. They lead you up a massive spiraling walkway that gives you a view of what are possibly millions in stasis. At the top is a room with moving vines that clean you and clothe you in a plant-like body-suit--soft, but durable. After that, the lights lead you to a great cavernous room with a clear floor that lets you see all the holes and tunnels in the walls of it. When you reach the center, the last thing she tells you before whisking you away to gather your belongings and meet the rest of the crew is this reassuring thought:

||You have been Chosen to accomplish a Great Purpose. You have been Chosen to help fight the Ohm, a race of insectoid beings that are the destroyers of worlds.||

||You have been Chosen as champions of life, as protectors of the worlds and peoples that are left. The others are waiting for you. They will explain everything.||

She will tell you nothing more. Your answers lie with these "others" she speaks of.

The last thing she remembered were the bullets stitching into her cockpit, the toxic atmosphere of Pandora flooding in, the scream of a stinger heading straight for her-

And then she slid out of the pod with a disgusting wet schlorp noise and struggled to climb to her feet. Trudy was no stranger to waking up from stasis - she'd been put in cold sleep on her way to Pandora, and she'd been back and forth to the outposts at Jupiter in cold sleep a few times. The disorientation, the gnawing hunger, the stiffness in her limbs - those were all normal, and she immediately started going through the muscle exercises that would make her limber and fighting-able faster.

At the same time, she was taking stock. No service rifle. No uniform. Not even a goddamn radio- where the hell...?

"Great," she said, getting a better look at herself. "The afterlife is sticky alien glop."

If Aftran was disoriented, confused, and completely lost, she was at least lucky enough that Karen felt equally as such. When the Yeerk mentally snapped, Be quiet, the human girl was fearful enough to comply.

Aftran coughed and shook her goop-soaked hair out of her face as she got to her feet. She looked about, trying to keep the fear she herself was feeling off of her host's face. She caught sight of a human woman -- she seemed to be human anyway -- and decided it was best to act the part she looked. For now, anyway.

"Excuse me..."

Light.

"If you have half a chance of successful negotiation with the Ka'a'lim, you're going to need someone with the linguistic skills I possess.  I can pick apart a new language in less time than it would take you to either talk or shoot your way out of that bar.  I'm going on this mission."  Uhura folded her arms and leaned back against the bulkhead, a PADD dangling from her fingertips as she fixed her eyes on Kirk's face.

He had that look on his face.  The one that said something smartass was coming.  She held up a hand.

"Would you like to explain to the Admiralty exactly how you started a war by not listening to your Communications officer, and do so from the inside of a brig on some alien planet, or would you like actually like to enjoy your next shore leave?" That came with a smile.  Point made.

"Good point," Kirk said.  "You do the talking."

Heat.

"Enterprise, we are on an intercept course with Landria Outpost Seven.  We are picking up unusual electrical activity planetside, please advise," came the voice of Ensign Andrea Palmer as she finished rechecking her scanners for the fourth time.  "Enterprise?

Uhura frowned and leaned across the space, her hand to her earpiece as she strained to hear the faint transmission coming through the crackling static.  It sounded like--

Sound.

The scent of blood was heavy in the air, heavier than the smoke.  God, her head was pounding and there were flames.  The heat of them, that was had woken her.  The bleating alarm was a shrill scream as she watched Palmer's hand list and sway as the craft shuddered on reentry.  The hiss of dead air was loud in her ears as she pulled herself up, wide eyed as her fingers flew across the terminal.

They were going dow--

Lieutenant Nyota Uhura woke sharply as the sucking pop-hiss of her pod releasing sounded.  There was a graceless moment of groping as she landed in a sprawl to find herself naked and covered in something that was very much the consistency of mucus.  She stifled the horrified reaction in favor of a mental and physical assessment before there was a voice in her head.

A voice that told her the unthinkable.

Nyota froze, considered the new information, and pulled herself to her feet and straightened her shoulders.  Fine.  She was just fine.  And she had a job to do, didn't she?  Her jaw tightened and then released as she followed the strange lights.  This was more than a little disturbing, but she was alive.  That was what mattered.  She was alive.

And naked.

Uhura tried to forget that.

There was a curious clicking noise from behind her. Sly Knife had discovered a human female. She had no weapons. She was no threat. She was not pry. He gave her a passing glance, studying her intently as he prepared to move on. "If none of you are armed, this is going to be boring."

Of course, he had no idea that she could understand him, thanks to the magic of Stacy.

Light. It was the first thing that came to Negi's mind.

Oh and the ringing in his head after the intrusive psychic briefing was getting in his ears.

But despite the warmth and the soothing voice, there's an overwhelming emotion that Negi was feeling at the moment even as Chamo slid down next to him with a sound akin to a squeaky toy: pain.

It wasn't the pain of getting beaten to within an inch of his life, nor the pain of getting de-armed and possibly de-something else considering his life. It wasn't even the pain of getting hit, hurt or eating something that made him squat in the bathroom for a while. It was pain that resembled a sound that started out low.

"rrrrr...."

Chamo looked up at the nude teenager after hacking up a furball the size of Australia. "Aniki?"

"Rrrrrrrrr...."

"Uh oh."

Negi dropped to his knees, clenched his fists, raised them to the sky and in a passable imitation of Captain Kirk in Star Trek II, let loose the most inhumane noise as magic erupted around him, crackling in a howling tempest of black magic, lightning magic, all that fun stuff. Chamo clung to his kneecap in dear life as the howling winds and magical force unleashed itself in an explosive frenzy.

10. 10. 10. Somewhere the Scottish Judge gave it a 6.0. He always scored low.

Negi heaved, coughing and choking as Chamo folded his stubby arms. "Feel better?"

"No."

And there the strongest mage of his generation sat, burying his face in his hands.

He had failed.

That's all there was to it.

Oh, and he was covered in alien snot.

A pod opened near the teenager, and a small red figure poured onto the floor. All eight of its legs twitched slightly, then flailed. The creature opened its large yellow eyes slowly, slime clinging to its eyelids.

Slowly, Zhiai'kahn pulled herself upright, staring around the cavernous space. She was confused. The climate felt very much like her tropical home, but it did not look right in any way. She made an attempt to walk, when a sound crashed through her new world. A pair of hands went to her ears, trying and failing to shut out the sound. A strong gust of wind followed, and she dug her claws into the fleshy ground to keep from being thrown away by the force.

The noise and wind stopped, and she loosened her grip on the ground. "What... what in the holy eight arms of the Gods was that?" She said aloud.

Mei-Xing can't quite catch herself as she falls, and shudders in a fetal position. Numbly, she listens to Stacy explain herself. A dragon has kidnapped her. Wonderful.

She coughs ooze out of her lungs, and slowly pushes herself up, choosing to ignore the fact that she's naked and covered in slime. Her mother had warned her about parties like that. The elf holds a hand to her temple and looks around, checking out her fleshy surroundings. Pods and flesh and slime.

None of it made sense, there wasn't any kind of technology like this in the world. With a sinking feeling in her gut, she realizes the truth. A corporation has her. She screwed up somewhere, didn't cast one of her sanitation spells correctly. Wuxing or Ares or Fuchi or someone had tracked her down and kidnapped her, and now they were playing games. Testing her for something? Who knew what those sick fucks in their tall, shiny buildings thought.

Luckily, Mei-Xing still had one advantage. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, switching from her perception of the real world to the purer view of the astral world.

Chaos. There's life here, but so much negative energy in this place, almost as bad as a void of mana and she can feel it twisting at her-

She drops to her knees, clutching at her head, and begins shrieking wordlessly, unwilling or unable to accept what she's seeing.

Mei-Xing's shrieking seems to have attracted some attention, a certain dragon has made her way among the pods towards the source of sound. Stopping a few meters away as she comes across the woman, human? Hmm perhaps not..wincing as she continues to shriek.

If Mei-Xing is still viewing in that same astral view, she may find that amongst the chaos and negative energy, the dragon before her is something of a beacon of life and energy.

Watching her for a moment before finally speaking, a kind enough tone stepping slowly closer "Calm yourself, letting panic take you will do no help.."

The first thing he was activity conscious of was the fact that he was wet and his head hurt terribly. The last thing he remembered was grabbing his backpack to head out of class.

He shivered, automatically reaching to push himself up, mind not quite processing yet that he was moving, head still pounding and throbbing, a weird sense of pressure and movement making already clumsy limbs jerk and twitch as though two people were trying to control them.

Where on earth was he? And did someone get the license plate on that semi that hit him?

It was only when he raised his hand to his face, rubbing it to try to clear his head that he realized he was moving. It wasn’t something most people thought about really, you wanted to move your hand and you moved your hand, simple as that, right?
Tom had spent two years as a host to an alien slug, and he could still feel it in his head. It had gotten to the point that moving his own hands felt odd and speaking was an alien thing full of confusion and a stutter that he didn’t remember having before.

Whatever was making his movements choppy and his head fuzzy had affected the yeerk as well.

…and whatever had happened had obviously taken his clothes off. Two years ago the thought of being naked in front of other people would have bothered him. At the moment, it only irritated him because he was cold.

“Hello?” The confusion and the lingering affect of whatever he had been given slurred the word to almost incomprehensible, body sluggish as he climbed to his feet. The yeerk was waking up, but it wasn’t awake enough to do much more than make his fingers twitch and foul up his legs. “Someone here?”

The ground under his hands felt warm, and the cold was quickly fading from his limbs as he stared around the cavern with wide eyes. But further waking would bring him no pleasure, only further awareness from the Yeerk as it woke and quickly lessening control of his body.

In being a surgeon, Simon often braved unpleasant fluids of varying degrees, but this slimy, viscous substance took the proverbial cake, mostly because he was naked and covered head to toe in it.

This was not Serenity. This was like no place he'd ever seen in his entire life. What was going on? A moment ago he was cleaning up the infirmary. Then the world seemed swallowed by light and in the next moment he was sliding out onto the floor of...wherever. Simon's first thought was that the Feds had finally caught up to him, put him in some kind of stasis and taken him to some kind of freakish prison that seemed to pulsate around him.

One look at the thing he'd fallen out of, however, and Simon knew this was not Alliance in the slightest. He brought himself to his feet, legs shaking and feet sliding in the goo on the floor, taking hold of where the pod split and trying to see if he could determine what exactly it was. The doctor wasn't one to believe in alien life but this was all so unfamiliar that "alien" was the only word he could use to describe it.

A voice made him swivel around, made him nearly faceplant into the puddle of slime. Was he hearing things? Given some sort of hallucinogen? "Hello?" He called, trying to pinpoint its location but finding it to be seemingly everywhere. A ship...the ship was talking to him. A talking ship. "Is anyone there?"

What was initial shock gave way for a growing feeling of dread. If he was here (wherever here was), then where was the crew of Serenity? Had something happened to them? He wanted answers.

"River?"

Surgeon party! And <3 Simon

Nearby, another young man was dumped out onto the floor in a similar manner. His ponytail hung haphazardly, part of its length stuck on his head. Panic nearly took him immediately. He was naked, sticky, confused, and hearing an unfamiliar voice in his head. His shoulders shook, and his ordinary fingers quickly changed into an inhuman sort of claw in preparation for self-defense. The bloodthirsty monster he pretended he was incapable of being tried to assert control, but it was only through his stubborn will that he didn't allow it to lash out.

Instead, he rose to his hands and knees, and struggled to get his breath even again. The voice's comforting tone helped very much. It was almost like hearing his mother's voice again. In a moment, he looked up and around. He absorbed the sounds and scents around him, taking it all in. Focusing on each sensation in turn gave him something to keep his mind off of his disorientation. Humans, he smelled. That was somewhat comforting. As well as other creatures he just couldn't place. He blamed the thick wetness in the air for that.

Finally, his eyes landed on the man nearest to him. His hands were still distended, but he raised one nonetheless to pull his hair free. His long, lean, teenage frame wasn't quite intimidating, but his silence created a suspicious enigma. The claws probably didn't put anyone at ease either.

Kyle's whole body ached, and his head was swimming. When he opened his eyes he found the lighting to be low. A small mercy. Standing he slowly became aware of his surroundings. Force this place was actually alive! Looking around more it began to sink in just how massive this place was. How had he ended up here? Where was here?

When he heard the voice it was quite a shock. The feeling of love was so genuine. Even if he wasn't used to sensing emotions Kyle would have been just as sure of the sincerity of that feeling. Just as sure as he was that the feeling of this goo was quite uncomfortable.

It was certainly the worst wake up he had ever had in his life.

But he'd been here before, and they looked... well, stunned, most of them. "Are you all right?"

The last thing Ashley Williams remembered was Shepard's ship the Normandy being destroyed by an unknown alien race. She had slid out of the pod silently as if in a deep sleep. Being covered in alien goop was not what she remembered. As she stood there taking stock, she realized two things: one she was naked and two, she had no idea where she was. She was also weaponless.

"Damn it! Shepard! Anyone?"

[identity profile] modelscientist.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
There was a faint cough off to one side as Mordin struggled to his feet. They had been undergoing repairs to the Normandy, he remembered, after the ordeal with the Collectors. He flicked some goop from his fingers, his mind righting itself as quickly as it could as it began running through options. The goop, the pods. All seemed to indicate further Collector involvement. But the Collectors had been destroyed. Besides, it shouldn't have been possible to sneak up on the Normandy in such a fashion. Hm. There were other beings obviously experiencing similar disorientation. Collectors were out as a possibility then, especially considering appearance of at least one alien species he didn't recognize. Ah. A familiar face (vaguely). Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, former colleague of Shepard's. Good. Would have to acquire weaponry and clothing soon (nudity not important though) in order to--

Hm. A voice. A purpose. Fascinating. He'd have to learn more. For now, though...

"Gunnery Chief Williams."

Sly Knife came back to himself quickly - Yautja are a resilient species, after all. The first thing he noticed was the slime, the condensation, the muck. For a moment, there was flash of resignation - had he finally been taken by a hard shell? Captured and impregnated? If he could just become fully awake-

And he did. Slowly. He shook his head, clicking as he clambered to his feet and looked around. He was surrounded by moist, dense air - it was a bit difficult to breathe, almost like something Oomans would want. He'd need to retrieve his helmet. Of course, he was also completely nude, which didn't bother him too. He hissed softly - this was like no hive he'd ever seen. All around him, he could see pods, the heat they gave off glowing bright in his vision in all their different shades.

He heard the voice in his head and he growled. What was this? Had he been captured by Oomans instead? He could see them, hear them - and he had no equipment. But he was a hunter and a fighter, a blooded of the Yautja. He roared his defiance to the cavern - he would get answers. And he would get them soon.

Between the naked, the goop, and her lack of rifle, Trudy was turning into one very pissed off Marine.

The noise - screaming from some quarters, roaring from others, grated on her nerves. She turned around to the... thing... nearby and shouted, "How about we shut the hell up, does that work for you?"

They had just saved the world. Everything. Giygas was destroyed. Her soul had been sitting in the cold, hollow cavern of a robot till the end. She had felt it slip back through space and time to her own body. She had finally been able to feel the warmth of her body, and when her eyes fluttered open there was the blue of the sky and the feeling of warm, happy tears falling down her cheeks. They had done it. She was so happy...

But the feeling did not last long for Paula.

Suddenly everything was cold. Dark. No, not again..!

She reached out in front of her desperately and felt herself fall. The floor was warm, contrasting with the cold feeling of the mucus she was covered in. What in the world...?! Paula chocked back the feeling of wanting to vomit, desperately turning her head to look all around her.

"...Ness?" She called out tentatively. "Jeff? Poo? ... No... where...?"

There was a girl there, and even if it wasn't the one Kira was looking for, she looked confused and... lonely?

"H, hey!" he called out to her, even as he looked away to help preserve her modesty. "Are you okay?"

Ben decided that the whole thing was surprising and not surprising at the same time.

Surprising, because he was in a strange place with no memory of getting there, but there was no sign of kidnappers, glowering guards, or any indication that someone had brought and kept him here by force. Surprising, because the whole place was alive, but the tentacles that held him still while they dressed him were gentle, not the painful, grasping strands of the Embrace. Surprising, because he had woken up covered in nothing but goo, which had definitely not been on his to-do list as the Jade Shadow left Dathomir, and he was pretty sure that the Sith liked more lethal and painful things than “mass quantities of slimy stuff for everyone.”

And yet, somehow it wasn't surprising at all. Protecting worlds and peoples was pretty much the family business.

“Stang,” he grumbled, rubbing at a left-over goo-spot behind his ear, his mind racing a lightyear a second as he tried to remember what had happened to his dad, the Shadow, and the Sith girl. “Why couldn’t you finish the explaining?”

Celena blinked to consciousness, shaking her head as she stood, taking in the strange new surroundings..then back at the large pod that had seemingly held her form. What was going on here? She'd been on her way back through the depths to her home...perhaps something had caught her on the way down?

No, this place felt different..if it were nearby where she had last been, she would have found it before. That telepathic message though did suggest something else..chosen to fight? Hmm well could prove interesting.

Arching her long neck to look over her slime covered form she sniffed the slime experimentally before drawing up a little bit of energy along with shaking her form not unlike a dog shaking its fur, the slime freeing itself from her form and being flung about the vicinity. Leaving her markings softly glowing now as the somewhat large dragon looked curiously about the place.

[identity profile] fierce-diplomat.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
She couldn't avoid splashed with more slime when one of the larger beings near her shook itself clean. Reyna wasn't sure if having more slime on her naked body was a good thing or a bad thing, but she was diverted from her musings by the sight of the being that had splashed her. Scaly like a Trandoshan but far less humanoid in form, Reyna was fascinated by it. She couldn't resist the urge to learn more about it and walked slowly over to greet it.

"Hello there," she said cautiously so as not to startle the magnificent creature. "I'm called Reyna. What do they call you?" She found herself oddly at ease around this strange being, probably because they were different enough in form that she didn't feel quite so self-conscious about wearing nothing but bits of sticky green goo.

When she'd called Emma - on her private line, no need to go through the mansion, after all - she'd been told where the emergency credit cards were. Meaning there had been clubbing in her very near future.

The last thing that she remembered was the pair of thugs that had been harassing the kid in an alley. She'd tried to move on, but the ingrained training had taken hold, and, sure enough... she'd gone to help.

Once an X-Man, always a damned X-Man.

She'd flashed the two thugs, and gotten into a fist fight. The last thing she remembered was the ringing in her ears as she took a fist to the jaw.

Jubilee gasped, choking as she yelped, falling to her hands and knees. Choking, she tried to imagine what the hell was going on. Under her hands, she could feel almost a heartbeat like pulse. It wasn't metal, or wood. It felt almost... alive?

She pushed herself up, and hair fell in her face, slapping wetly against her nose. "Yuck." She pushed herself up. "Great. Covered in goo and naked." She tried to push hair out of her face. "Alright, Mojo, what now?"

[identity profile] eswat-109.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
While Jubilee was getting her bearings, a nearby pod coughed up its occupant with a crack. The newcomer, to all appearances a human woman, slid bonelessly to the floor, lying face down and motionless in a puddle of slime.

Deunan waited. It was always better to let them think you were unconscious while you gathered what information you could from your other senses. She wasn't sure who, precisely, "they" were in this circumstance, but assuming hostility saved getting an unpleasant surprise later.

She breathed smoothly, that act of control convincing her body that she really was calm, and her heart rate started to slow. Strangest of all was the floor beneath her naked body--it throbbed as though it had a pulse of its own. The nudity didn't bother Deunan so much as the related fact that she was unarmed. At least she was uninjured, and the air around her was breathable, warm and humid, with nothing harmful in it for her micromachines to filter out. Nearby, unfamiliar voices called out in confusion.

Patience never having been her strong suit, Deunan lasted about five seconds playing dead before she rolled over and up into a crouch.

"Oh, wow." She wasn't certain what she'd been expecting, but this was not it.

"I don't suppose you know where we are?" Deunan asked the naked woman--from Poseidon, maybe?--next to her.

How long had he been asleep? Kira couldn't remember - he couldn't remember when he'd fallen asleep, only that he now was asleep...

...but the sensation of being unceremoniously dumped onto a vaguely fleshy floor, covered from head to toe in slime? That was something he did remember, and as Kira pushed himself up to his hands and knees, coughing the fluid out of his lungs, all he could think was that it hadn't been a dream. He was here on the ship, here to fight this vague alien menace... and if he was here, then--

--Kira looked up, frantically looking around him for a sight of pink hair. "Lacus?" he called out, reasoning that since she'd been here with him last time, maybe she'd be here again? He knew she could take care of herself, but it still didn't feel right.

Choline had died before.

It was very commonplace on Azeroth for adventurers to die and be brought back to life by their allies or by the local Spirit Healer. In short, adventurers didn't die until their time was up. Even though she was no longer immortal, she still had plenty of millenia left in her.

And that was the last thing she remembered - that she'd died doing something - before, suddenly, she awoke, spluttering and naked, covered in ooze, in a place that certainly wasn't Azeroth, and was certainly very much alive.

The voice in her head was startling, and she took a deep, shuddering breath and looked to her left.

A very familiar-looking form was still in one of the creepy alien pods. She crept closer, breathing a small sigh of relief. At least she wasn't alone this time. She'd have him here and things would be fine. Anatoly - the man she was now surveying - was more of a champion of life than she'd ever be. He had a right to be here.

But why wasn't he being spit out onto the floor and asking her what the hell she'd gotten them into this time? They lived together, they loved together -- getting into mischief was par for the course for them.

"He's not... dead?" She tapped on the front of the pod. It opened partway. Nothing else happened, but the smell told her what she needed to know.

He most certainly was dead. And there was no discernible way to retrieve him. For a moment she was still, and then she fell to her knees, shaking in terror and sorrow but, for whatever reason, unable to shout, cry, beat the crap out of this Stacy for killing him --

Choline realized now that she really was alone. Because she certainly didn't see anyone else she knew. Or anyone else for that matter.

Staring at the ceiling, as though Stacy were there, she spoke quietly and bitterly. "You killed him and left me here. Thanks for that."

She was still a soldier at heart. She could mourn later. Right now she was naked and covered in slop and she really hoped that her knives were somewhere on this... whatever this was.

Still, she took a moment to cast a longing glance at the half-opened pod with the corpse inside. "Light be with you, love," she muttered.

"Because I think it's forsaken me."

There was a price to pay when one cast magic that she herself wasn't sure would work, at least, not work properly. When Celes had cast the spell to teleport Kefka and the ridiculous underlings he'd brought with him away from Locke and the others, she'd known that. However... she hadn't known it would be so terrible as this.

A few pods down from Choline, a young human woman slid out, coughing up the salty, thick slime as she struggled to breathe. "What in the name of the goddesses is this...!" Had she died? Was this the underworld meant for traitors and their ilk?

It must be so, because she certainly didn't believe anything that spoke in her mind.

This was so very much not what Spike had planned for today. He was going to kill some demons, drink some blood, maybe order in some Chinese for the hell of it. He was not going to get whisked away to some bizarre pod chamber with a bloody AI called Stacy. He had no interest and wanted to go home.

Except...

Chosen? Him? He looked around for a moment, wondering if maybe Angel was behind him and he'd just been pulled along for the ride. People always told Angel about big destinies. Never mind that he'd actually earned his soul instead of being cursed. It was always about Angel.

But not this time. There was no Angel. He was the Champion that was chosen.

Spike grinned, straightening a little, and walked forward. About bloody time.

Champions of Life? Chosen? She blinked as she pulled herself up, checking herself. Other than the green slime, she seemed to be fine. None of the gems running her body were missing, she tested her soul, the power gleaming in each gem. She was unharmed.

Slimy as hell, but unharmed. The slime didn't react to her Soul either, interesting... but not all that useful. Why was she chosen, she was not a champion... pick any of her relatives and they would be a better choice.

She moved toward a man, a blond haired man, "Do you know anything about how they determined their 'Champions?'"

They always say that when the end finally comes, in that moment where you know that your time is up, you'd see your whole life flash before your eyes. Every experience and moment that set you on the course that led to this very moment would be revisited one last time.

They obviously had no idea what they were talking about.

If there was anything they had got right, it was the feeling of hopelessness over the the whole experience. Even for someone in the career where death was seen everywhere, even if you spent your whole life knowing that this moment could be right around the corner, the surprise was always the same when it finally came.

It's only ironic that having your heart start again gave almost the exact same feeling.

For Shepard, the first breath into a new life only made her head spin. She stumbled out of her pod and almost slipped in the process thanks to the slime that layered the deck in front of her. Her body was throwing so many signals now about the world around her. The glaring lights overhead, the sounds of her scenery and garbled noises of speech, it felt all to overwhelming to her. Where was she? What happened to her? How did she get here? All of these questions she wanted to know, but were nothing more than garbled impulses amongst an ocean of them her body and mind gave.

All that Jane could do was just stare at the scenery around her with bright green eyes, oblivious to the fact of the complete strangers around her or just how disturbingly familiar the the architecture was.

"Shepard!" There's a bit of relief in Mordin's voice. He's not completely alone in a strange situation (not that that hasn't happened before). More importantly, it's Shepard. With Shepard here, any obstacle they need to overcome have just gotten a little less imposing.

"Glad to see you in one piece."

Confusion. And light.

They came first. The confusion was from the sudden slam to the ground. And the fact that everything felt very wet and sticky.

Winry blinked her eyes open. Where was she? Wasn't she just home? Wasn't she...?

"Ed...?" She mumbled on reflex, sitting up and looking around and-- naked. Fantastic. "Where am I...?"

The better question may be, How did I get here?

Chamo was in heaven as he lead a sort of shell-shocked Negi everywhere. Despite the few naked guys and alien-types, there was always a pretty girl somewhere else.

Turning the corner, he gazed upon the latest arrival. A little short, but gloriously blond and chesty.

"I APPROVE!" exclaimed Chamo with a thumbs up, engaging Dirty Old Man Mode.

"... huh?" said Negi clueless for a moment.

To be honest, she couldn't even remember exactly what it was the last thing she remembered. Almost like when you can't exactly remember when you fell asleep the next morning after staying up late, everything still rather hazy.

But that didn't matter. More important things to worry about at the moment, after all.

Signum, ever the pragmatic warrior, takes the first few moments to take in the situation.

Naked, unarmed, covered in...some unknown substance, and surrounded by others in the exact same situation.

Having determined that this 'Stacy' had the upper-hand, she decided to go along with what she said, for now--at the very least, until she got her hands on Laevateinn again. She got as much information out of her as she could, before setting off and hovering at a brisk pace towards the Clothing Room.

"TSAB Mobile Section Six, Lightning-Two reporting," she broadcast using her telepathy to those able to receive such messages. "Any TSAB personnel in the area, please respond."
starlightace: (T-that doesn't go there!)

And all the way over in the Jedi Temple, Nanoha heard the broadcast, and immediately stood up from her desk in surprise.

S, Signum! Is that - is that you?!

Last thing Tanis remembered was Kitiara walking away. She was going to be leaving in the morning with Sturm. The thought made him look up.

"What in the..." He realized he was covered in slime and, his clothing was missing. Shoving that little detail back for a moment he looked around him. There were others there, no one he recognized.

What happened?

He grimaced at the goo squishing when he moved to get a better look at those nearest him. He saw mostly humans, something, probably whatever had been done to him, he doubted it was Kit's slap. Without realizing it he spoke in Qualinosti... "Where are we? Where's Solace?"

Dude.

There was a naked guy here too. This was getting worse and worse. Haley's arms crossed over her chest tightened, and she kind of hunched over, angling her body to the side. He may have been speaking a different language, but Stacy's automatic translation took care of that. As far as Haley was concerned, he was speaking English.

"Looks like we're on some creepy ass movie-set," she snipped. "And I have no idea who 'Solace' is."

So, I've decided I'm going to take you to nationals. You know, show you how it's done.

Too formal. it sounded like she had practiced it- which so who cares if she was. She wanted to get this right damn it.

So, uh, I've decided I'm gonna take you to nationals. Y'know, show you ho-

Then wetness. Dark wetness and she was gasping, trying to get air as she fell for with a wet plop on to a ground that was suspiciously pliant and warm. She was covered in goop and completely buck naked and-

"What the fuck?" Haley pushed her hands across her face, trying to slick the goo away. She shook them vigorously, trying to get the viscous green stuff of them. "What is this, some kind of sick joke!?" Haley was not a happy camper.

Then, there was the voice in her head. She clutched at her ears as if that would make it go away. "What the- this is some kind of joke right," she demanded of the world at large. She was naked and uncomfortable, and that made her even more defensive and angry than usual. "I'm on like an episode of Fear Factor or something. Or Punk'd? Where the fuck are the hidden cameras?" Her eyes were scanning the area wildly as she pushed herself unsteadily to her feet, arms wrapping around her chest protectively. "Okay, hahaha, shity ass joke guys. Pooch, Frank? Did you losers come up with this?" She shifted back and forth, trying to ignore the fact that the floor under her feet was warm, and seemed to have ... a heart beat?

"Guys ...?" Her voice was losing strength, becoming more tremulous. "Come on guys, this really isn't funny ..."

There were about a million reasons for Evangeline to be pissed right now, though they were mostly consequences of and could be expediently reduced to one: she'd been abducted by aliens.

You got a unique perspective when you were a few hundred years old, seeing multiple epochal changes in human society and technology. Recently they'd been coming faster and faster and soon it'd probably be completely normal, but she'd had nice, big chunks of time in which to digest them so she was at an advantage regardless. She was used to the idea that things changed and old ways of life just got wiped out forever, casually as she'd snap your average dead god's neck. Around the time she'd gotten in the business of cutting deals with martian time criminals for technology from the stars she'd sworn she was done being surprised by what the future held forever.

This crap was still kind of jarring. Like waking up with a hangover in Zeus' own sinuses. The hangover part might have been her fault, though, if alcohol stayed in your system while you were in storage in some kind of goo-pod.

At any rate, she actually needed to mull this one over for a bit. She'd never actually thought about this kind of thing, but she'd generally have assumed that if any aliens had abducted her it would be the last mistake they'd ever make. And she'd have a spaceship to cruise around in in short order. That would have been amusing, in the slightly ironic way someone arrogant choosing a target poorly generally was.

This, if the telepathic broadcast could be believed, was actually something a lot funnier. They hadn't just abducted her, they'd taken her to be some kind of champion. Some kind of hero.

Only one good reaction to that.

Laugh. And laugh loud.

For the most part, if anyone happened across a large mass of blue hair? They would probably hear it coughing. Upon closer inspection, that mass of blue hair would belong to a little girl.

Finally getting the rest of the gunk out of her system, Sasami stood on her feet, looking around in confusion. Where am I? Th-this isn't home! What happened here?!

A meowing sound echoed through as a familiar figure raced up and climbed on the girl's head.

"R-Ryo-Ohki!" Sasami said, surprised, yet glad to see her old friend. "Wh-where are we? Did Little Washu send us somewhere else?" The cabbit only meowed in confusion. "I...I don't like this place."

A few moments later, the girl grabbed Ryo-Ohki off her head and held her near waist, her cheeks turning red. She just realized she was naked.

Slumped on her hands and knees, Reyna Kam gasped for breath as she tried to orient herself. One minute she'd been disembarking from the shuttle that had brought her home to Alderaan after a lengthy off-world assignment and the next she was sliding to the floor covered in slime. This combined with the strangely pulsing ground beneath her and the warm, humid air around her quickly convinced her that she was no longer on Alderaan.

She pushed herself to her feet and looked around, blinking to clear her eyes as some of the disgusting green goo sloughed away from her body. The sensation was a tad revolting but she decided that she preferred it to being completely covered in the nasty stuff. As her vision swam into focus she saw other people emerging from pods all around her, their similarly slime covered bodies staggering upright as they they slowly recovered.

Tipping her head forward and dragging her fingers through her short brown hair to in an effort to try and get some of the bigger chunks of goo out of it, Reyna was shocked to discover that she was actually quite naked under said goo. There wasn't nearly enough of the foul stuff left to cover her generous curves, and she felt heat blossom in her face from a blush that she was willing to bet was not confined to her head and neck. The comforting thoughts projected into her mind by the ship's AI - Stacey? - did little to ease her embarrassment, but she was able to take at least some comfort in the knowledge that everyone in the cavern seemed to be in the same awkward situation as she herself was.

Speaking of which...

It wasn't exactly the sort of grand entrance that the Rogues generally got when they were somewhere. There weren't explosions, there were no Imperials, and the young man had found he was quite naked. Stacy hadn't been to informative on what exactly was going on just they were there for a 'great purpose' that 'others' would explain. So far no one that he had seen had been able to explain anything.

Walking along the path that took him by the other pods, Gavin wouldn't help but wonder just how many others were in the same position that the ones now awake had just been. From the looks of it there were billions if not more. And that sort of bothered the young pilot. When he came across the young woman he nearly stopped and turned the other direction. Instead he tried to play at least somewhat modest and lock his gaze only on her face. Face only- right. "Ah... Hi. You okay there? I mean aside from being from whatever that stuff is from the pods."

It was strange... one moment, Ran Fan had been slinking through the lower levels of Central HQ, dead-set on tracking down her Young Master after he had gone after Wrath. The next thing she knew, she was picking herself off the ground, shaking her head to fight off the feeling of drowsiness that had taken hold of her.

... Her face lit then up in embarrassment as she realized that her clothes were gone. What in the world had happened? Had the Homunculi somehow detected her and captured her? But why--

And then there was a voice in her head, and all traces of embarrassment were gone as she instantly went alert. That explanation didn't really help much, though it did give her a feeling of uneasiness...
