Leaning back in his chair, Apollo stretches while giving out a loud yawn. He'd holed himself up in the Sensoriums, leaving the entrance open in case someone really wanted to use them, for a few hours. A large stack of paper was in front of him, and the table and floor around him was littered with various bits of crumpled... No, folded paper. Paper crabs, paper cranes, paper frogs, paper bugs... He's obviously been busy. In his hand, held between two fingers, is the start of another folded paper project.
He looks at the paper and sets it down, leaning over the back of his chair and letting his arms hang loosely for a bit. He's been at this for too long, but somehow the whole 'wait for a crewmember to stop by the most popular part of the ship for a bit of conversation' plan failed. "Maybe I should have tried the cafeteria?"

"I don't think it'd be that easy to shut off all the power, especially considering how damaged Stacy was before without any power problems. She's also at least semi-organic and self repairs. Which is good, since the people in podsleep wouldn't last long without life support." Lyle doesn't need another thing to be paranoid about, really.
"I suppose that depends on what you mean, but it wouldn't surprise me."

"Yeah, something this big would have some kind of backup, would it?" He frowns, rubbing his chin. "What do you think she's powered by? The only times I've seen something this big, they either had multiple generators throughout the ship, or they had some pretty ridiculous technology going on."
He shrugs. "I was just wondering."
no subject
"I think those parts are still restricted, although I didn't get here that long ago." He'd done the best sweep of the ship that he could, but the thing was huge. "And considering the number of people she's carrying and how far ... I'd say both multiple generators and ridiculous tech."
Lyle puts a hand through his hair. "You're probably not from my past anyway. But the galaxy's pretty diverse."

Apollo shakes his head. "I don't know. She surfs the Bleed, and there are some power sources that can power something this big and allow it to do that. A caged baby universe, for example."
"Man." Apollo slumps in his chair. "Dealing with a multiverse is easy. Time travel gets right on my nerves, though. It's too complicated."

Lyle sighs. "I really hope not. I'm not sure I want to know how they're pulling this off considering they've got a fleet of these ships."
Lyle nods. "They're both pretty annoying, but if it were easy, it wouldn't be our job to deal with it."
no subject
He laughs at the sigh. "It wouldn't be the first time I've had to destroy a fleet of shiftships." They're never very fun to deal with, but they're always satisfying.
Apollo snorts. "I signed on to make a finer world. Time travel isn't listed in that job description."
no subject
Lyle's eyebrows raise. "Really? What are shiftships?"
"A lot of things aren't in the job description."
no subject
"Shiftships are... Okay. Hn." Apollo frowns and opens his mouth a few times before just shaking his head. "You know how Stacy navigates through the multiverse by surfing through the Bleed? Shiftships are basically craft that do that. They protect the passengers from the Bleed on their way to new universes. I don't understand the science behind it, to tell the truth."
"This is true."

"I've never heard of those. Why did you have to fight them?"

Lyle considers for a moment. "I guess you're part of a group? I'm with the Legion."
no subject
The Legion. Now there's a group with a name he can expect. Short. Punchy. Has a bit of authority behind it. "I'm with the Authority." He grins. "I notice you're not using the past tense, there."
no subject
"There's a few of us here, from different universe's Legions. And you don't really stop being a Legionnaire." You pretty much married the job.

He nods. "Well, one of my team members is on board for sure, and the others... Well, if they aren't on here, then they're on the Carrier."
no subject
"That's good. I'm hoping all of my teammates are safe. We weren't in the most secure position when we were picked up." He's going to believe they're alive until he's been proven wrong beyond all doubt.
no subject
"Well, luck being like it is, they probably are." He crosses his arms, glancing down at where the pod chambers were. "It would be more convenient if we could identify everyone in the pods though, wouldn't it?"
no subject
Lyle nods. "I'm sure people are working on it, but it seems like one crisis after another."
no subject
"Isn't that just the story of my life?" He chuckles a bit, resting a cheek against his palm. "Always with the crises."
