Memories Left Abandoned [Open]
After his confrontation with Sofia, Julian wandered around for a while. He didn't really pay attention to where he was going, and in his travels, he wandered into the area of the city that contained several ruins. He didn't really pay them any mind, at least until he stumbled across one that he recognized.
The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.
Even as it was, he'd recognize the place. It was his home, once. But like most everything else in his life that he thought he could count on forever, it was reduced to nothing more than ashes and rubble.
For a moment, he wondered if this was the Nightmare King's doing, but he knew the truth. He knew exactly who he was and where he was. He scoffed at the bitter irony of the situation.
"Who needs nightmares when this is your life?"

From behind him was another voice, that of Irma. There was probably a hint of annoyance in her voice - she recognized that sort of building. Another school. Greaaaaaaaaaaaat...
"So, what brings you here? And what's with the blah in your voice?"
no subject
There was more than a hint of annoyance in his voice at being disturbed. If anything, both his tone and his stance shifted to a stance of excuse you
"Who the hell are you?"
no subject
"And lemme guess, you're King of the World, aren't ya?"
no subject
"Something like that. What do you want?"

Nura is standing a few paces behind him, floating in mid-air. She had been flying around the city for a while to shake the cobwebs from her head, when she spotted the young man. A vision later, and she was right there.
She tilts her head, and looks softly ahead. "I miss my home too."
no subject
"And that was a rhetorical question."
no subject
"But you must have had some good memories at least." She shrugs, floating over and touching down near a pile of rubble. She sits down. "I'm sorry if I am prying, Julian."
no subject
"I doubt that," he muttered, in response to her comment about prying. "Let me guess, teleapth?"

"Are you okay?"

He finally turned his head to look at her. "I'm surprised you and Sofia aren't having a little girls night out."
no subject
"You and I both know that's not really my kind of thing. Besides, it's much more exciting hanging around dilapidated ruins." She glanced away from him, back at what was left of the front door. Truthfully, she hated seeing the place destroyed. It had been the first real roof over her head, the first place where she'd been allowed to feel safe, since she first ran away from her family, after her father rejected her mutant abilities.
no subject
"Yeah, plenty of excitement to be found around here." Nothing said fun quite like a bombed out wall.
"Though I figured you'd be happy to see her." Nori wasn't exactly his favorite person, and he definitely wasn't hers. But he assumed she and Sofia were still friends, and it would be nice to have a friend around.

"Hey," Sooraya said with a bemused grin on her face. "At least you're a bit more used to it than I am."
Sure, he wasn't the same Julian she knew and loved
to antagonize. But he was close enough.no subject
"Lucky me," he muttered. "What do you want?"
no subject
"You know, I get that we're technically strangers. And that's a little weird, but at the same time it's quite nice. You don't want to kill me, apparently..."
The other Julian... some days, it seemed like that's what he was after.
no subject
"So why'd your Julian want to kill you?"

"Oh. Um..." Wyn freezes, noticing who was standing in the wreckage. Well, this is awkward.
no subject
"Something I can do for you, honey?"
no subject
"No, I was looking for someplace abandoned or a building no one would care about if I accidentally rendered it unusable for a while. This is neither, so..."

Wow, Julian, there's a face you haven't seen for awhile.
Kara smiles shyly at the mutant, her hands behind her back and her feet gently touching down on the ground.
"At least the whole place didn't explode," she added. "Hi."
no subject
"Hey..." Just give him a second, he'll be suave after he processes this.

"Then what is this?"

He adds, "See, 'cause the present involves friends like me, crazy end of the world crap, and more tentacles than a Japanese schoolgirl can handle."
