Memories Left Abandoned [Open]

After his confrontation with Sofia, Julian wandered around for a while. He didn't really pay attention to where he was going, and in his travels, he wandered into the area of the city that contained several ruins. He didn't really pay them any mind, at least until he stumbled across one that he recognized.

The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

Even as it was, he'd recognize the place. It was his home, once. But like most everything else in his life that he thought he could count on forever, it was reduced to nothing more than ashes and rubble.

For a moment, he wondered if this was the Nightmare King's doing, but he knew the truth. He knew exactly who he was and where he was. He scoffed at the bitter irony of the situation.

"Who needs nightmares when this is your life?"

"You should," he stated. "I'm rather picky about that sort of thing."

"I cleared your high standards? Oh, good."

"You should be thrilled. It means I'm actually interested in your mind." And sleeping with her, but one thing at a time here.

"I don't think trying to annoy me counts as being interested in my mind." Wyn says, raising an eyebrow. It's really more like trying and succeeding to annoy her, but minor details.

"What can I say, honey, I find our conversations stimulating."

"You know, that does explain a lot."

"And you enjoy it, too," he accused.

"Just keep telling yourself that, caomh." Well... she hasn't left yet, has she?

Oh, he's noticed.

"Then why are you still here?"

"I got distracted." Wyn says, rolling her eyes. It turns out pointless arguments are pretty good for that sort of thing.

Julian took that as a compliment. And don't look now, Wyn, but there suddenly isn't a whole lot of ground between you and him anymore.

Why, why is there not enough room to scoot over on her rock? "Believe it or not, bickering does that."

Because if there was, Julian would not be able to invade your personal space, which he quite gladly is doing right now.

"Bickering is only distracting when you're into it."

Wyn likes her personal space, which is why she's going to lean away as casually as possible. "... as opposed to what, exactly?"

Julian likes you personal space too, Wyn, hence why he invades it further.

"Arguments. The kind that are hostile, hurtful, where you spend your time trying to rip chunks out of the other person and bring them to tears, or where you try to get away from them as fast as possible.

"That's not us." He may be annoying, but he's fairly certain that he's never really made her mad.

Wyn sighs, running a hand through her hair. "No, it isn't. We're not really fighting, are we? Just... killing time, I guess." The last time she had a conversation like the one Julian described was with her ex-boyfriend; Julian may be irritating, but he's nowhere near the level of utter douchebaggery needed to get that kind of reaction from her.
