KARAOKE DANCE PARTY!!! [OPEN, COME GRAB FREE CR!]

Everyone had been so nice to Ryo since he had awoken a day prior. He wanted to show his appreciation to his friends and the crew, and get a chance to meet others. So, he walked back into the sensoriums and imagined a place. As he opened his eyes, there was the Milk Dipper. Wood finish, stars decorating the place, rough hewn wooden tables and the telescope in it's pedestal at the center. Everything was as it should be, except for one thing. Behind the counter, looking very confused, was a green-skinned demon who bore no resemblance to Airi. Ryo registered his shock as the demon spoke.

"This... is NOT my bar..." The green one said, his own shock evident. He looked at Ryo. "And you're not Peter..." Ryo, not knowing what to do, bowed quickly.

"I'm sorry, Oni-san, I just wanted to throw a party for everyone, with karaoke and dancing, and I didn't mean to summon you!" The demon shook his head, waving Ryo off.

"It's Lorne, and you had me at karaoke. Now, this place.... I like it. Kind of a kitsch-meets-class thing going on... It does need to be bigger, though..." Lorne snapped his fingers and the cafe expanded, now as large as an auditorium. The telescope pedestal sat firmly in the center of a well-polished dance floor, underneath a disco ball and lighting set up. To the left of the counter was a stage with a karoake set-up, and behind the counter was now a lot more than just coffee. Otherwise, the decor remained the same.

"Alright, Ryo-kun." Lorne said with a smile. "Give everyone the heads up and get this party started." Ryo nodded, amazed by the demon's abilities, and gave a call on the omnicomms.

[[ OOC: It's karaoke dance party time! Start a sub-thread with your character singing a song, socializing, or just being a wallflower, and let the CR flow! Especially great for newbies to meet folk and influence people!]]

Will's face suddenly became grim and serious, like the flick of a switch. "There are many perfect things in the universe, Lass. Ye'll see in time." There was a tightness in his voice as he remembered a better time in his life, better people, a better him.

He sighed deeply and forced himself back into the happy bar demeanor he'd practiced for so many years. "Of course, relaxing isn't supposed to be easy. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth it, would it? Shrugging off responsibilities because there's something ye'd rather be doing isn't for everyone. Ye best be prepared for quite a bit of training. Long hours, working into the night... I can't begin to predict how much time it's going to take for me to train ye to truly relax." He ruffled her hair as he said it, hoping it'd distract her from his serious moment.

"I'm ready for anything," she said softly. "Anything at all. I don't mind hard work, after all, I'm used to it. It's what got me into the TSAB and made me a B rank mage, right?" She tried to see past the seriousness, but it was tough when all she wanted was to...make it better. Which was stupid, because you couldn't really make anything better.

The hair ruffle was unexpected and she half leaned into it.

He shrugged. "I dunno. How do ye define a 'B rank mage', and what's a 'TSAB'?"

"Time-Space Administration Bureau is the TSAB," Kala began quietly. "There are eleven lettered ranks for mages; F, E, D, C, B, A, AA, AAA, S, SS, SSS. TSAB armed forces are ranked D to C, while B is the hardest to surpass and most Air and Ground mages can't get past it at all, but I'm determined to! F is the lowest rank in power with increasing levels of power up to SSS. Officers in the Air and Ground forces are ranked A to S and I swore I'd get that far. I was a B rank when I came in a year ago and Rein says she'll do my test for A and AA when I'm ready. I won't stop training, ever, but especially not when I haven't achieved the rank I know I'm capable of reaching. If I can, I will become S ranked."

Kala was determined in this and convinced she'd get that far, too. She was going to push and push and push to become the best!

You could almost see the gears whirring in Will's head trying to keep up with the influx of mage-based information. He stuck his hand out and started to count something off on his fingers.

"So, essentially, ye have six more ranks to overcome before ye can be considered unrankable in yer military thing. I'm actually surprised they have a ranking system so high... if most people can't get beyond B, is Triple-S really necessary? Seems like it'd make more problems than it'd solve." It was kind of a hypocritical question, but he'd had similar experiences with the Powers rankings when he worked for Helix. How he could be considered Chi was beyond him.

"I did not make these rules," Kala said with a sigh. "I think I have the potentiality to make higher ranks, but do not know if it possible. I know of a few S ranked mages. I believe both Nanoha and Fate are both S+ while Hayate, their commanding officer is ranked SS. They have limiters places on their devices most of the time, at least they did in my time, and are mostly limited to A level or AA level power. Such allows them to be held at a certain limit, though they may have the power level to sustain vast amounts of magical activity. There are balances to the system that keep problems from arising, I guess. It's complicated...like most ranking systems are."

"Apparently." he shook his head.

"Where I come from, powers are ranked not on control or talent, but by how much devastation they'd cause if they wanted. They hammer the point home by using an alphabet from some long dead 'n gone civilization. Ranks aren't a good thing.. the higher yer rank, the more ye get feared."
