Training Day

As per the Chief's message, it was training time. Everyone who signed up for training (or was signed up by someone else) was ordered to an open square in the City.

Yes, the City, instead of the sensoriums. That meant that any weapons used would be real. And every bit of damage that they dealt would be real. As would the injuries. Though there didn't seem to be any weapons around, and there were no targets set up.

Interesting, that.

Anyway, in the square was the Chief of Security, who was busy marking off names of people who arrived early or on time. Anyone who figured that they could skip out, though, there is now an unhappy seven foot fully armed and armored Spartan hunting you down.

Roxie is here not for any particular desire for train, but simply as something to distract herself. She's been overworking to the point of exhaustion—there are dark circles under her eyes, and her eyes herself are rather bloodshot. She's gained a strange set of marks across the left side of her face, red nautiloid-spiral patterns that trace out and around in almost-scars. There's black gunk under her fingernails and caked along the sharp edges of her teeth. All-in-all, the signs are fairly subtle, but likely troubling upon closer inspection.

She sits off to the side, her eyes closed, waiting.

Yuri, of course, was not fooled for a moment. She was extraordinarily sensitive to the moods of others and approached her friend with a concerned look in those big wobbly eyes.

Lafiel arrived twenty minutes before they were arranged to start, and if not bright eyed and bushy tailed, was at least full to bursting with Sirs and cheerful salutes.

She spent this time stretching long limbs, moving gracefully from heel to heel as she felt the burn in her hamstrings.

Luly is taking the time to move through strange and uncomfortable-looking kata-exercises. If not specifically made to take advantage of a Nazzadi's flexibility, they were certainly adapted that way, as she's moving through poses that would make most humans wince in sympathy. She isn't in a plantsuit, but for once she's wearing something other than that dress of hers - a black sports bra under a loose white t-shirt, and denim shorts just loose enough to keep up with her flexibility. She's brought a little pile of other clothing in case the session ends up needing something else, though, and it's all tucked to the side of the observer's area on top of black boots (in case being barefoot won't work).

"Zdravstvuye," she says brightly in Lafiel's direction. It's a much better mood than the depressed wreck she was immediately after the last set of nightmares.

Mal arrived earlier than most, not for any particular reason except to see who would show up and where the training would be taking place.

He noticed a few others had already arrived, as he walked around a short while before picking a place to stand and prepare for whatever training was coming.

Tobias was on time, fluttering around as he looked for a decent perch. He wasn't the type to be late, although even the seven foot tall Spartan didn't scare him *that* much. Not when he could fly away, or if worse came to worse,morph to a seven foot tall creature heavily armed with its own built-in blades.

Booth had arrived on time. His presence was partly a given, considering his nature and background, but also in part due to his talk with Brennan. He would definitely get a lot of practice with his shooting here. He wasn't, however, entirely thrilled about the idea of real injuries being inflicted on him.

He started stretching and warming up, employing some of his old army routines.

Erwin was, of course, punctual. He'd managed to rig up his field gear and he arrived with helmet on and rifle in tow. Nothing to do now but wait for the Chief.

He didn't know why he wanted to train. Most of this stuff he could do blindfolded while racing Sonic. Then again, he didn't know what this "Master Chief" had in store, so it was more of curiosity than anything. Joining the others, he came to a stop and began stretching himself out.

"Training, huh? That doesn't sound TOO bad...!" Vivio said, approaching the group. Wearing a simple t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes, she was eager to get into the thick of things.

As she started warming up, Sacred Heart looked at her, worriedly.

"It's okay, Kris! I'll be okay! Promise!" Vivio said, smiling. Inside, though, she WAS worrying. She wasn't sure what she was dealing with.

Plays showed up, shaking his limbs out. No weapons for him. He's got everything he needs right here. Hell, in warform he can take a whole magazine of assault rifle ammo to the chest and not even feel it. Time to get this shit done.

Tess has decided to show up—not in her suit, but in simple coveralls and black shoes. The considerable change in appearance might even make it hard to recognize her at a first glance.

Kate was here, looking forward to the good practice. She had her bow and quiver with her, also her sword. Though she was ready to switch to hand to hand as well. She immediately found a place to start stretching. She figured to keep to the plantsuit since easier to work with when working up a sweat.

Wyn has a question, Leon! "Is there going to be a... níl fhios agam, a remedial group, I think it'd be called?" she asks, seeming a bit irritated by her brief inability to think of the right word.

Arha showed up in her white leather, quietly studying the turnout, her milk-white lightsaber (sans the crysknife part, which was holstered, nestled in its spot on her other hip) hanging from her belt. Her hair was pulled back and twisted away in a series of small braids that she brushed back as she scanned the area with bright blue-within-blue eyes.

She was looking forward to see what all of this was about.

Tim is there just a little early. He's... kind of curious as to what this is going to be about, though he has his doubts that it will be any better than Batman's training.

He's Robin. It's practically in the job description to think Batman is the best.

There was a loud wolf whistle from Leon, which hopefully got their attention.

"C'mon people, it's time to start. I need everyone to take a seat on the ground over here," he ordered, indicating an open area, "but leave some room between yourself and the people around you."

Wouldn't want any friendly fire accidents, after all.

There's an area with some benches off to the side of the Square, which is where any observers have been asked to sit. They've also been asked to not interfere with the exercise, but are otherwise free to chat amongst themselves.

Nanoha wasn't here for the training - she had too much work to do - but she couldn't resist watching the techniques that would be used... chalk it up to the instructor in her.

Or at least, watching them cursorily, anyway. She had a little datapad in front of her, working busily on her latest report on the Nightmare King, only stopping to look up when she saw something interesting happening out of her peripheral vision.

Quite a few people had shown up. Kang couldn't help taking a look at the trainees, already trying to analyze what their strengths and weaknesses might be, and he almost did a double-take when he saw a deer walking on two legs and what looked like a giant hedgehog. Weird, but then again, the ship was full of weird, and he looked weird enough to most of the others himself.

While she wasn't one for fighting of any kind herself, Kaylee did feel it was important to give whoever was training a nice little boost in morale. She settled herself onto one of the benches and took immediately to tossing encouraging smiles to anyone who looked any king of nervous.

Support. Everyone on Stacy was a team, after all, and team members needed to support one another.
