The thing you should know is that everyone is in really big trouble. Yeah. Even you.

Ax had escaped the Controllers on board. Brainy had not been so lucky. Neither had Sam and Tim. And who knew how many others on board had Yeerks wrapped around their brains, controlling their every movement, pretending that everything was normal until the time came to strike.

Who do you trust, podlings?

"You're not Tim," he says, admirably jumping to the conclusions that are closest to the truth out of sheer loyalty. "Or if you are...not his fault. Something--something done to him. Brainwashed. Something controlling him."

He ignores the fighting over near the statue of a big ship between Speedy, Kate, and Danny, and sucks in a deep breath.

"Tim, you can fight this," he says in a wavery voice, staring in Tim's eyes with his own clear blue ones. "If it's you, and something's been done to you, you can--you're strong enough. Stronger than me. I couldn't--couldn't. So hard. When Luthor...but you can."

No one in the world has as strong a will as Tim's is, except for maybe Bats.

"You can beat this."

He believes in you, Tim. More than he's ever believed in himself with this kinda stuff.

"H-humans s-suck!" Kara muttered under her breath. "Another reason n-not to trust th-them."

It wasn't a lie, either. Out of the people there, three of the ones attacked had powers.

The other two didn't.

The hand holding the Kryptonite wavers slightly, and a pained look comes over Tim's face. He doesn't really have control--he knows that. Just enough to make this feel even worse.

He can't even move his body enough to close the lid to the lead box and save his best friend.

His eyes are pleading with Kon from behind his mask. "I--can't," he says finally. "Go."

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] the-cute-speedy.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
And Mia's off like a shot as soon as the box is closed, closing the distance between her and Robin. At least with him wearing the ship-issued suit, she wouldn't have to work around body armor to get at his pressure points.

She lunges in, angling her knuckles to tag under one of his arms.

"H-he's trying to k-kill us and he's whu-whining about using th-the bathroom?"

It's not time for jokes, but she needs to do something to hang on and calm herself down.

Re: The Statuary

"Uh-uh, not so fast!" Kate set the weapon aside to focus on Mia. Can't let the main objective be foiled after all. And she had business for this one.

"She has so many secrets, including her skills. Want to see?" She crowed before she lunged forward to tackle and wrest Mia to the floor before she could come in contact with Tim.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] the-cute-speedy.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that was unexpected.

Not that she interfered, but her foot-speed.

Mia shifted her focus, pulling back the arm ready to strike Robin and bending back at the waist, dodging most of Kate's advance. She grabbed one arm and shifted behind it, swinging her other elbow at Kate's shoulder.

She'd worry about apologizing for any injuries later. Ollie had taught her plain and simple. When your allies start acting not themselves, you take them down hard and fast. You don't waste time trying to get through to them or asking why it's happening.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
She was good at tackling. Ask Tommy and he's a speedster. Kate struggled, trying to hook her foot over Mia's ankle to trip her. She took the blow, but tried to elbow Mia from the back.

She wanted to take her down as well. She knew from the host the other young woman's skills. But clearly not all.

It didn't help the host had a satisfied grin, and was hoping Mia kicked both of their asses.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] the-cute-speedy.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
She grunts in mild pain. Mia couldn't dodge the oncoming elbow, but managed a more important counterstrike as they both fell towards the deck.

She swung her fist up under Kate's arm, the same hand position as she'd prepared for Robin. If she hit the nerve cluster correctly, Kate would lose the use of one arm for a few hours, and be hurting a lot.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
She did, and Kate gave an involuntary expletive that was anything but English. She briefly clutched at her arm in pain, and then howled. She tried to punch and claw with the remaining arm and hand, dragging her fingernails toward face and neck. But the pain clearly had her distracted.

Yep, he's still got it in the clutch.

Robin's trying though. Even if he can't close the case, he spoke, and that tremulous voice was his own. It's something. If he can just...stay still.

Green K hurts him, but being half human provides a little protection. He tries to help drag her along with his own sluggish limbs. If Tim can fight the control and just...stay in place long enough...

"Crawl. Right. Another un-undignified thing to do."

Still, she was following Kon as best she could.

Which wasn't very well at all.

She stays close to her cousin, though.

"S-Sorry," Tim says through his teeth, clenching them as he fights not to follow. His stupid, traitorous body takes a halting step toward Kon and Kara, and he's using just about everything he has just to try to slow his own progress.

Kara and Kon are almost to the door when Tim's control finally snaps. The pained expression smooths from his face, only to be replaced after a moment by a look of fury. He stalks toward the Kryptonians again, and bends down to shove the Kryptonite into Kon's face, not caring that the radioactive stone might be touching Kon's skin.

"Sorry, Conner," he says coldly. "You didn't really think you'd be able to get away, did you?"

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 10:08 am (UTC)(link)

Where it touches his skin, the veins bulge and go green over his cheek, and start to spread out, and his skin starts to turn mottled green. He cringes, but he's too weak to move, too weak to fight back. It's hard just finding the strength to still breathe.

He meets Tim's gaze, but sees only that cold, furious stare back.

So, as his eyes roll back into his head, he tells him what he'd been told when it happened to him, what he wished so hard he could believe.

He's starting to lose consciousness now.

No, scratch that. He's dying.

Ugh. Guess every Titan needs to turn traitor at least once.

Why yes, her thought process was faster than her speech at the moment. She's also done her research, thanks to Bruce letting her use the Batcave.

Hold my cape! Hold my belt! I'm going to kick some Boy Wonder ass!

Heat vision flickered to life in Kara's eyes, and she shot out a small spurt of it.

It was all she could manage.

Tim cries out in pain as the burst of heat vision cuts through the plant suit and burns him painfully. He lifts his head to glare at Kara. "Nice try," he spits out, shoving the Kryptonite against Kon again. "Not going to stop me."

Danny had been knocked aside by the ecto-guns blast, but intangibility aside, he was still human, and thus not as hurt as he might've been. Which was why he was able to fly through Tim's hand and grab the Kryptonite.

"Huh. Glowing green rock." Danny said, hovering away from the group. "Looks kinda radioactive....five bucks says I can find a statue made of lead to shove this thing into. Any takers?"

"Maybe she wont', but I will." Mia says coldly, managing to flit out of Kate's crippled reach. She brings a hard two-fingered strike down on each side of Robin's neck, hoping to render him unconscious.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Kate tried to go after her again, however the pain had the Yeerk distracted. Enough for her to murmur to Mia, her blue eyes looking stricken.

"...Don't hold back."

Her mannerisms stiffened again, and the Yeerk took full control as she reached for her bow to shoot her. Making sure the host knew exactly what the intentions were.

Tim is already moving, though. He ducks away from Mia's hand even as he's reaching for his belt and the staff he keeps folded up there. Kate can handle Mia. He extends his staff and plants it, launching himself into the air toward Danny.

He wants his Krptonite back--and he wants it now.

He's furious.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] halfa-hero.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Too late. Danny's already on the move, deeper into the statuary, and is invisible to boot.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
They have an opening.

They need to find somewhere to rest, especially since they can't recharge--no yellow sunlight around anywhere.

Kon knows this, but unfortunately, he's having trouble staying conscious. Having K-rock shoved up in your face like that? Against the skin? So not good for you. He's still got that green skin thing going on, even if it's fading a little.

"Nnrgh."

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] the-cute-speedy.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Mia gritted her teeth and caught the bow as the half-disabled Kate swung it at her, unable to shoot with it's dead arm.

"Okay, possessing the girl aside, I don't care if you don't respect me, but you will damn well respect the bow!" She wrestled it from her grasp and lashed out with a kick, toes pointed, to the back of Kate's thigh.

Once she had the bow, she nocked an arrow and sighted Robin. This was going to be a flesh wound, but a nasty one. She let the shot fly.

Re: The Statuary

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2009-02-21 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The Yeerk knew how much the bow meant to the host, another way to make her see to prove its point. Meanwhile Kate yelled in more pain, and crumpled to the floor. She was trying to stand up again, but hard with only workable arm.

The arrow goes straight through the flesh of Tim's upper arm, and he curses--loudly. He stumbles his landing, and whirls to face Mia, recovering himself.

Damn, he wishes he was wearing Robin's armor right about now.

Gritting his teeth, he yanks the arrow out of his skin, not caring that it hurts. And Danny is gone. Perfect.
