Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing
The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.
The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.
[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

She nodded her head completely seriously. "Of course it makes sense! You should so say it to him sometime." Nope, not trying to get him into trouble at all.

He considers her suggestion about actually saying the line to Picard, then comments, "I'm not sure that's a good idea. I wouldna want to get it wrong and offend the Captain."

Her lips purse together for a moment. "How exactly would saying 'Live long and prosper' offend the Captain? It's not like you'd be saying 'Ohmagawd! You suck!' Seriously, dude, it's a cool thing to say."

He shrugs. "I still don't know, Claudia. Would I have to do that 'v' thing with my hand?" If this keeps up, walking into a wall is going to be the least of Jamie's worries.

"Can you even do the v thingie with your hand?" Claudia asked, completely skirting around his question for the moment. His answer would obviously affect how she'd respond to him.

He'll let that subject drop then, as honestly, he's wondering more if he can make the v sign with his hand. It seems simple, though. "I don't see why not," he muses, and holds up his hand, palm towards his face. His fingers don't want to cooperate to start. While he can splay out his index and pinky fingers easily, it's a lot harder to get them to split in the middle. He frowns slightly and tries again.

She giggles and reaches out and takes the hands he's trying to make the v sign with and pulls his pinky and ring finger away from the tothers. "It's a talent, which you obviously need to work on!"

Inwardly, he doesn't mind quite as much as it seems. He's just trying very hard not to let that show on his face.
"Oh, ye think I need to work on this particular talent, do ye?" This time he is remarkably quick at making that 'v'. A little too quick, actually.
"There," he says, smugly. "What do ye think of that?"

She was about to say something but then Jaime was suddenly doing the v symbol....thingie with his fingers. Her eyes narrowed slightly and she was suddenly tempted to punch him right in the arm. "I think you could do that the whole time!" She eyed him. "Could you?!"

One of them is now, as he waggles his fingers and then easily makes the symbol again. "Aye, of course I could. What kind of a piper would I be if I didna have flexible fingers?"
He's rather blissfully unaware that he's about to be punched.

And he can't very well admit that the reason he fudged it in the first place was to see if Claudia would be amused by his original attempt so he could get her to laugh again. She's got a nice laugh.
He winds up ducking his head, instead. "I...don't know."

See? She's not even mad anymore.

He's glad, though, that she's not mad, and he grins at her. "But I'll keep it in mind. Maybe ye can give me sneaky lessons or something."

He shrugs as if to say it's no big deal.
"Ye can always show me stuff with lasers instead." Really, he'll take any excuse he can get to spend a little more time with her.

"Hmmm maybe. But are you sure you don't know anything about lasers? I might have to zap you in the butt if I ended up going on and on and then come to find out you already knew everything I was talking about."

"I know ye can shoot things with them, if ye make the right type of gun." That worked pretty well against the Quarks. Of course, so did bunging a rock at them, but the gun was much more satisfying. He smiles a bit at the memory.
"And I know they're useful for other things, but when the Doctor talks about it he tends to go on and on and on." Wait, didn't Claudia just say she might do that too? Hurriedly, he adds, "But you're much cuter than he is." He'd certainly be more willing to listen, he thinks - and completely fails to realize he just told Claudia he thought she was cute.

Her eyebrows shot up and she'd have said something, but then he'd gone and said she was cuter than the doctor person. Her grin grew and she fluttered her eyelashes at him. "Well of course I'm cuter! I'm cuter and know lots about lasers. OK not lots lots, but enough to build them and blow something up."

It appears it's only one of those two options, as he comments dryly on the third. "Ye and Wyn should form a blowing-things-up group." He'd watch - well, from a safe distance, anyway. Having an escape route handy might not also be such a bad plan.
"So," he asks after a moment, "Are ye willing to show me things about lasers sometime then?"
