Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Inara insisted, trying not to stare at the man like he'd gone and lost his mind - which he most obviously had.

She did stop moving through. The thought of being shot was not a pleasant one. More so since she had no idea why the man was threatening to shoot her.

As far as he knew, there was never a time when she was an adult that she wouldn't know what he was talking about. Unless this was Ba'al. A very unwise Ba'al.

"The necklace with the nifty personal shield. But which is it? Is Stacy neutralizing your powers, or do you not want to blow your identity here yet?" He made a gesture that could have been a shrug, if there were any feeling in it. It fit well with his flat tone. "Not that that's going to happen. We're not spreading Origin anywhere."

"What?! I don't have any powers!" Inara asked, her expression one of complete confusion. She started to step back again, but then her gaze fell on the gun.

"Look, I have no problem with people knowing who I am. You obviously have me confused with some else. This is all just a simple case of mistaken identity" she insisted, her voice becoming oddly calm as she held her hands out in a pleading motion.

Chak-CHK!

Motoko was very good at what she did, and for that reason was rarely unarmed, even dressed in a very little fur-laced red and very little else, she had no compulsions about doing her job. The barrel of the handgun was still cold from the mission, a round chit of steely ice against the back of Cam's neck.

"That's enough," she told him calmly, watching him with great care as she continued in a quiet, conversational tone, "Give me the gun."

She did not get paid enough for this.

Erwin had noticed the altercation and tried to make his way over, sliding the rifle off of his back with a frown. Whoever he was, threatening an unarmed woman with a pistol... That didn't sit well with him (although he remembered a village in the Russia - no time to think about that now). Fritz helmet clamped firmly on his head and rifle held in one hand, he came up alongside Inara, bringing the bolt-action up and leveling it with a frown, accent German despite the translation, "I suggest you do do what the woman says."

Women with guns - that was a bit strange to him, but the Russians had used them, so it wasn't unheard of.

Well.

There was a moment, where he registered confusion--because this wasn't really Adria's style, she was too proud, and Ba'al too. The moment lasted pretty much just long enough for the other woman to get the drop on him.

After that, the other man was just plain overkill.

Obviously, with the pistol point-blank, and the rifle backing it up, he was out-maneuvered and out-gunned. Even if he was feeling crazy today, these people were most likely misguided innocents. After all, most people would probably see the scene as him pointing a weapon at and threatening a helpless woman. That she was attractive (except for the genocidal tendancies) probably didn't help.

He needed to talk them down, and he wasn't going to do that waving around a weapon. As much as he disliked the idea of losing his sidearm even temporarily, or letting Adria (It was Adria, it had to be, didn't it?) out of his sight, he was going to have to roll with this.

He released his grip on the beretta, letting it hang loosely from his fingers, and held his arm out to the side. "You should know, this is not what it looks like."

[identity profile] almostluver.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Inara looked between the two newcomers and felt a wash of complete relief wash over here. The crazy man had dropped his weapon, though to be honest she didn't want to see him hurt either.

"He's right. It's really not what it seems," she agreed and took a careful step so she was at least standing between the crazy man and the man with the rifle. She held her hand up and motioned for him to perhaps lower it.

"It was really just a case of mistaken identity. There's honestly no need for weapons."

With her free hand, the Major took the gun from Cam's loose fingers. Her intense red gaze slid across Erwin's face to Inara's and listened as she spok, "Regardless of the cause, both of you are going to have to come to security. Threats of deadly force aren't something we can afford to take lightly in a contained environment."

Her attention flicked back to Erwin, but the portion of it that was still holding the gun on Cam never wavered, "You've just been drafted to help get her down to security."

[identity profile] youngsoldat.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Erwin looked and listened for a moment, slowly lower the rifle as Cam was disarmed and Inara slipped in front of him. Situation defused, for now. He eyed the major for a moment. There was something in her voice and in her eyes - she was an officer. Military bearing. He nodded firmly, slapping his rifle to his side and doing his best to click his heels, "Jawhol. Understood."

He turned to Inara, "Please, come with me and... er..." He glanced apologetically at the Major, "I am afraid I do now know your name."

[identity profile] sgmitchell.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, today just wasn't his day.

He hated it when things like this happened. Disarmed and being led to a cell, without back up? Not good. Not good at all.

"The weapon's not necessary." He kept his hands firmly up and free from any possible weapons--not that the plantsuit could conceal many. "There's no need for a production about it. If you want, we can go down to security to discuss it, but threat of violence is unnecessary."

It was worth trying to explain, at least. If things went badly...well...he was working on that plan.

[identity profile] almostluver.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
Inara nodded slowly, and dropped her hand back to her side. "Oh course, I completely understand."

She looked over at the crazy man and decided if he got into any trouble for this, she'd at least suggest he get some mental help.

"Which way do we need to go?"

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Major Kusanagi," She supplied Erwin, then half-ordered, half-replied, setting her palm against Cam's shoulder. Her grip wasn't rough, but it was a warning as she tucked her gun away, "The brig, in the city. You know the way."

[identity profile] youngsoldat.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Erwin does his best to click his heels for the Major again, "Oberschütze Erwin Fischer."

That done, he gestures for Inara to follow Cam and the Major, "After you, please."

[identity profile] sgmitchell.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
So they were both soldiers. Grumpy as the woman was, there was minute reassurance in that. All he didn't need to deal with was a trigger-happy gunslinger. The fact that she holstered her--whatever--helped, too.

Of course, things were still up in the air about whether he'd manage to explain the situation properly once down in the City, or if he'd end up with a stay in the brig yet.

He really preferred not to have that stay in the brig.

[identity profile] almostluver.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded her head again and supressed the urge to sigh about the whole thing. She hadn't done anything but stand there and watch people. But well the only way to clear the whole thing up it seemed was to go along with them to the brig.

"Thank you," she murmured politely and turned to follow the others toward the City the woman had spoke of.

Should I get Leon in on this....or would it be mroe prudent to ahve a separate log?

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, Cam, but you just don't get a vote about the police escort through the city, nor the destination. Neither Leon nor anyone else seems to be in attendance in the precinct right now, which is unsurprising given the hubub on the obs deck and the current number of inmates: none.

Without ceremony, the Major opens a cell, and invites Cam inside before locking him in, then doing the same for Inara. It's all very calm and civilized, right down to the detail in which there are two empty cells separating the two of them. Perhaps that much is paranoia, but nobody gets to Motoko's position in life without being professionally paranoid. She doesn't speak.

I vote seperate log, myself. Although I could go either way

[identity profile] youngsoldat.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Erwin fell in behind the small group, rifle slung and marching at an easy pace. The city gave him pause - it looked to be as big as Frankfurt, if not larger - and by the time they finally reached the holding cells, he was thoroughly impressed (again) by the sheer size of this place.

He decided not to ask the Major questions unless he was spoken to. That seemed a safe bet, for now.

Either Works For Me. I'm Not Picky.

[identity profile] almostluver.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
The part of the City Inara had been able to see was absolutely breath taking - sadly she didn't get to see much as she was ushered inside the precinct and placed in a cell.

Like a common criminal.

She sat down on the bunk that was in the cell and snuck a look over at the man who had caused the whole mess. He didn't look crazy, though she supposed truly crazy people rarely did.

After a few minutes, she pushed gracefully to her feet and moved closer to the bars of her cell. "How long am I to be kept here?"

Either indeed.

[identity profile] sgmitchell.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. It could have been worse. The other woman, who might or might not have actually been Adria, could have been sitting free. That she also sat in a cell meant that they didn't believe he'd gone completely crazy.

He hadn't, by the way.

Which was why he simply crossed his arms, sat down, and waited. Compliance usually made ones captor more willing to negotiate. When force wasn't an option, obviously.

Ok, then, we'll do it here.

Leon got a message from the Major, where she basically told him a brief version of what was going on. Effectively that Cam may have lost his mind since he pulled a gun on unarmed woman. Though he may also have had good reason to.

Either way, she left them both in brig.

Several minutes later, Leon finally arrived. He walked down the hallway where the holding cells were and paused briefly in front of Inara's. "I'll get to you in a minute," was all he told her, before moving over to stand in front of Cam's cell.

"So... Cam. Care to tell me what's going on?"

[identity profile] standaloneshell.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
It was a flashback to the early days of her association with Aramaki. The Major simply stood against the wall, watching intently and listening closely while staring off into the air directly in front of her face with the plastic, unfocused gaze of a department store dummy. The joys of technology.
