Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

<3 Thanks

Mal couldn't help grinning at Kaylee's comment. He'd expected her to react like that, and yet he couldn't keep from laughing, even though her questions were legitimate, to a certain extent. "Ain't nothin' to be inquirin' about, Kaylee. It's strictly an arrangement between friends. She wanted somewhere with real beds, so I figured why not offer Serenity."

The smile was quickly replaced by a more serious expression, as he addressed Kaylee's other question. "Don't think so, but a person can always learn. I mean to teach her. I'm not as good as Wash, but I still can teach a person to fly if I need to," he said, a hint of defensiveness in his voice.

"Serenity's bein' kept in the vehicle bays. Ain't nowhere else big enough, I guess. You're more than welcome to go down there anytime." The half-smile returned to Mal's face. "Serenity'll be wantin' to see you."

Even though Mal denied anything happening, and she believed him, Kaylee still had to cast a slightly suspicious eye over him. Just in case. He probably needed a good, strong teasing right about now anyways. "Where'd you put her?" There was the empty crew quarters, or one of the extra passenger quarters...Kaylee really couldn't see him letting her sleep in one of their quarters, even if they were all still podded up.

Even so, if she was a smart enough lady--and from what Mal was saying Kaylee had no doubt about that--and enough of a good person that he was gonna try and teach her to fly, Kaylee had no qualms. It wasn't every day Mal picked up somebody he liked and decided to let them stay on his baby. "If you need help, I can at least get the idea of the workin's into her," she offered.

Here only a few hours, and Kaylee really didn't want to do anything except get back to her ship. Part of her wondered if, maybe, this was all a bit of a dream or some stupid practical joke they'd decided to pull. Most of her knew that wasn't so, but Serenity would offer some comfort. "I'll get back to her soon as I possibly can."
