Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

"No one in particular, but you are looking?" Wanda leaned a little back, then forward, trying to find an angle where she could see the Seer's eyes before giving up. "I am the Scarlet Witch. Could you tell me your name, stranger?" She kept her voice light and though she attempted to hide her suspicion, she had a feeling he could sense it anyway.

If he did, he showed no outward signs of it--the Seer seemed to be a master of keeping both his thoughts and motives hidden.

Everyone is looking for something, my dear.

If you must call me something, you may call me the Seer.

There was an odd tone of geniality to his words, despite the rather harsh sound of his voice, these clashing properties making him seem all the stranger.

Wanda had a feeling that his response would lead to more questions. "Then if you don't mind my asking, Seer, what is it you are looking for?"

Those who might be prepared to face the darkness that is to come.

She was hoping that was a warning rather than a threat. "What sort of darkness is coming and when?"

A dark god, bound to the city of this ship when our captors sought to wield powers beyond their control to face the Ohm.

It will awaken soon, and seek to free itself from its bonds, feeding upon the crew to gather its strength.

"There are no dark gods." Wanda quipped. "What's the name of this being? How has it been restrained in the first place and how exactly will it 'feed' on us?"

Hmn. A rather disappointingly limited viewpoint, for one who sees more than most. An ancient Terran adage goes, if I am not mistaken, "There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy".

The being itself holds many false names, all useless in any true sense, though it is commonly referred to as the King of Nightmares. I have not determined its True Name yet.

I and one other, who is currently trapped within the clutches of the daemon, are focusing all our efforts on keeping it within its slumber. It will only hold temporarily though, to allow the crew time to prepare.

Should it awaken, I believe it will attempt to drive the crew to insanity by preying upon their fears, and the chaos that ensues will grant the beast the power to free itself from its confines, perhaps even tearing into the physical realm.

Wanda sighed. She was not about to argue with the Seer, not when her own knowledge of the mystical was sadly limited.

"I will help you if I can but I will need to know more. I have not heard of the King of Nightmares, though I guess this being could be from a different universe than my own, unless one of those many names is Chthon."

That name is not among the ones I have encountered.

Two rituals are currently being prepared. The first shall reveal the creature's True Name, granting us an edge when performing the second ritual, an ancient exorcism rite. I shall perform the rite myself, but in order to confront the daemon, I require the energies of those with mystical or spiritual powers to be channeled through myself.

Neither rite is without danger, though I am hoping with enough preparation, we will be able to minimize casualties.

"Ah." Wanda nodded. "I once did something similar. It is not an easy task. I assume you've all ready spoken with those who have been awake longer about this?"

Only those who I believed to be of use in this endeavor. To spread knowledge of it any further would only serve to feed into the fears of the rest of the crew.

"I understand your reasoning." Not that she agreed with it. "Let me guess, your unique nature allows you to determine who does and who does not have experience with the mystical?"

Well, he is a seer. They do tend to see things.
