Time for the 'meat' and greet

[NOTE: This takes place DURING the holiday plot. If your character is involved in that, then they're still on the surface and not on the ship at this time.]

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

"Never heard of a dragonlance," Hisk says "But 's kinda hard to work with any dragon. Yellows can be opportunistic suckers but a black or green can break one in half and that's not much good." She sort of makes a motion with both hands and one leg as if snapping something in half over it while she talks, to illustrate.

"I quit once," she adds a little wistfully. "Lasted 'bout three days before I got bored."

Kang could get to like this woman. "Your dragons are different from what I'm used to, it sounds like. Krynn has no yellows. Greens and blacks, though... I've worked with them. Reds and blues, too." He shook his head. "Whites are dumb as hell, though. Useless in war."

Hisk snorts. "A green or black might just bite you in half because it can. They're entitled if y' ever manage to talk with one. Just cause they're bigger 'n you means they can do whatever they damn well like."

Not bitter at all. Nooooo.

"I've saw a red dragon. Once. Arkr un'Galvthang Cedruk Render-of-a-thousand-something-or-others and so the title goes on. Saw it writ once, took half a damn page 'cause the bastard's been camping up by Kentworth for half a century or sommat. I got lost." She offers a well-what-can-ya-do sort of shrug and makes a little bit of a face. "And I'm damn lucky I'm still breathing after that, made it back over the territory line."

"They're just sneaky bastards that make others do their dirty work for them. They don't like putting themselves in danger. Blues actually have honor. I didn't mind working with them too much," Kang crossed his arms over his chest.

That was perfectly fine, Hannah. He felt quite bitter towards the metallic dragons himself.

"Never did like how brash reds were. Idiots would rather burn a village to the ground than utilize its resources," he snorted.

"Doesn't sound like the dragons I know. Very direct. They'll avoid humans if they can, or clear 'em out if they gotta. But it causes 'em a lot of work what with all the folk that'll be after their hides if they do. 'Cept reds. Nobody's ever killed a red an' if they say they have they're lyin' through their teeth. Burning sounds 'bout right, 'swhat they do. Gods only know why, you 'casionally get some over-educated madman thinkin' they can go reason with one." She makes a 'pff' noise.

"Either way, I guess they're all outta my hair now."

"Different worlds, different dragons," Kang shrugged. "Are those the only types you have, or are there others?"

[identity profile] f-u-im-a-human.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Only ones I know about," Hisk replies, "An' I know more dragon lore than most dragons." She shakes her head a little bit. It's true, and it's one of the things that strikes her as odd when she thinks about it, how short a memory her kind has of itself despite how long they live.

"How d'you deal with having all these differnt kinds of dragons that are smart and in wars 'n all, less'n they're all only as big as you...?"
governorkang: (Well shit / Disgusting)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-01-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Kang snorted, "Oh, they're much bigger than me. Smallest I've seen was about thirty feet long." Smiling wryly, he continued, "For the most part, they keep to themselves. War's over so the metallics"--a hint of a growl--"and chromatics try not to get into fights with each other. And, for the past few years, they've been in hiding from these huge dragons that showed up out of nowhere and started killing them off; they don't want their skulls added to the 'Overlord's' totems."

"Oi, sounds like a headache," says Hisk. "We haven't had wars in Deruna in a long time. Thelfax keeps to itself mostly 'n besides Thelfax there's not much else around t' worry about."

"And if you got dragons big enough to make decorations outta ones that big?" She just whistles and gives her head a little shake.

"It can be," Kang smiled wryly. Last war was... five years ago. There was one before that, one I fought in."

[identity profile] f-u-im-a-human.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"And here's another one. Only bug men now," Hisk concludes.

She looks out at the planet again. "Well, it'll be a good story at any rate."

Sighing, Kang looked around at the other people. He knew he wasn't the only one frustrated by the situation, which was somewhat comforting, in its own strange way.

"If we win, it'll be something for the bards to sing about. Or whatever everyone else's equivalent is around here."

[identity profile] f-u-im-a-human.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
She smirks to herself a little, trying to come up with what sort of bards some of these people would have if they're just as strange.

"Well. Looks like I'll be layin' my head down here for a while yet," she says, pulling her attention once more back to Stacy's interior. "I better go get everything mapped out in my head. No sense gettin' lost in this thing's gut."
