Time for the 'meat' and greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. The mission is still going on, so if your character is offship, they won't be around for this.]

"Okay." Obvious questions, huh? "Why is it that hardly anybody seems to be noticing you?"

So, either he wanted Sam to see him or Sam was one of the lucky ones who could see through stuff. Neither sounded particularly good on his part. "And why are you watching them?"

Because I wish to ascertain whether those among the newly released will be able to be prepared for the darkness that is to come.

The bottom of Sam's stomach felt like it fell out, just because...well, it didn't matter. This was pretty much what he and Dean did, after all. "What's the finding so far?"

There is some hope, so long as this crew can find some way of staying unified.

Which, knowing this crew, is actually quite unlikely.

He didn't even know the crew and Sam still snorted. "A crew this size? I think you may have better luck herding cats."

His head tilted in agreement and Sam considered for a few moments. "And the rest of it? Not many people who've come up against this sort of thing before?"

Among them is the fact that the Ohm is not the only threat. And it is not the most immediate.

"So what's the immediate threat? Is there anything I can do?" This...is what he does. And yeah, Sam may get tired of being the one who has to, but when push comes to shove, he will if he can do what's needed.

In an effort to combat the Ohm, our captors sought to harness forces beyond their control.

Within the confines of the City in this ship, there lies bound a dark god.

It is soon to awaken, ready to tear itself free of its confines, and devour this crew.

Sam blinked for a moment, then rubbed his forehead. "Why do people insist on trying to deal with powers beyond them?" Because you would have no idea what that was like, would you, Sam? "Right. Okay. How do you take it down?"

Your brother has been made aware of the plan, but in short, an ancient exorcism right shall be performed.

Your brother has offered his support in this endeavor. Do I have yours as well?

Sam didn't even wait for the question before he was nodding. "Yeah," he said after a moment. "Yeah, you've got mine, too." Exorcisms he could do, even without the kicked up powers. Especially with Dean's help. "Does he have the information on how to perform it?"

I shall be performing the majority of the ritual, though I require those with psychic or spiritual abilities to focus their powers through me, providing me with the power with which to face the beast.

Another of your crewmates, Roxie Schreiber, will be enacting a secondary ritual to search for the daemon's True Name, or at least a small portion of it, with which we can weaken it, hopefully ensuring our success with the exorcism.

Honestly, Rhiow hadn't meant to overhear, but her hearing was rather good. She put her whiskers forward in amusement and paused in her wash to say, "It's not always as difficult as you ehhif might suppose, but the sentiment is understood."

Sam did a double take, blinking down at the...well, yes. Cat. His world had a hell of a lot of weirdness in it, but talking cats was a new one on him. "Probably not, but I'm sure it's harder the more cats you have. Same as with humans."

"The People tend toward rather... independent personalities. It makes working with each other for extended periods of time challenging. I suppose that's where you humans get the saying from." Rhiow's whiskers twitched. "I'm Rhiow. Are you new to all this as well?"

"Probably." Well, it made sense to Sam. Cats have always been independent. "I am, yeah. Well, new to the ship. Not so new to weirdness in general. I'm Sam."

"Ssam." the way she pronounced it, the 'm' at the end of his name was almost a mrring noise instead of a proper one, but she came closer to pronouncing his name properly than she had to anyone else that day.

She chuckled softly. "Well, if I wasn't used to weirdness in general I would make a rather poor wizard, so I suppose that makes two of us. I have a feeling it will help us here."

It probably helped that it's only three letters, two of which are very close to sounds cats often make.

"And I'd probably make a pretty bad Hunter." Actually, he HAD been a pretty bad Hunter there for a while. He's trying to change that. "And yeah. I suppose it certainly can't hurt here."

"A hunter, hm?" Rhiow asked, curious. "A hunter of what?"

She settled herself on the oddly pulsing floor of the ship. These people would be her crewmates and her only companions for the duration of her errantry - it was good for her to get to know them.

Sam crouched down, simply because it was more polite. Though he was far too tall to comfortably get down on Rhiow's level. "In my world, there are a lot of creatures who prey on humans. Demons and spirits and...well, a lot of really bad creatures, usually drawing people to their deaths. Hunteres find these things and put a stop to them."
